county board of supervisors is set to vote on formally supporting proposition 30. yeah, that's the bill aimed at raising taxes on the wealthy in order to fund wildfire management and electric vehicle infrastructure. but while most democrats support it governor newsom is against it abc 7 news reporter. ryan curry has the details and explains. contra costa county is now weighing in on this proposition that aims to raise. is as we said on the wealthy in order to fund wildfire management. election day is less than one month away and proposition 30 has received mixed reviews now the contra costa county board of supervisors will vote on whether they want to formally support it. i think it's important for elected to take positions on certain items that are of a great importance. this is about our future and our children's future supervisor. karen. mitchell says prop 30 will lead to a healthier environment therefore she wants the county to take a stand in support it.
5:14 pm
this also is an opportunity for us to take a position and show that contra costa county is a leader in going to a green and clean environment if passed prop 30 would raise taxes on people making over two million a year that money would go to fund electric vehicles charging stations and wildfire prevention rideshare company lift would also receive part of that funding proposition 30 is being backed by the state democratic party, but governor newsom is against it because he doesn't like that lift is receiving tax dollars. this is something where i don't think we really need to take a stand on it be of all the all the things on the ballot out there. this isn't one that i think we should be supporting supervisor, kansas anderson says, california spends billions already on electric charging and wildfire mitigation. she thinks raising taxes. to spend money on something the state already funds does not deserve an endorsement from the county. i'm not a big fan.
5:15 pm
of supervisor mitchov says she understands the disagreements on funding, but she thinks it will help many californians including residents in contra costa county when all is said and done this is going to provide millions of dollars to help those who can't afford electric vehicles get electric vehicles because we have got to move away from a fossil fuel economy in the east bay ryan curry abc 7 news. after the break we're introducing you to the nation's first, exclusively mexican wine bar. you're going to hear from a man behind the san francisco restaurant on a mission to elevate the perception of mexican food. stay with us.
