all too familiar in our country, another mass shooting, this time north carolina. what we are learning about the victims. >> it's like a feeling of being like you first wake up in the morning and you can't quite think, it is like that all day long. kumasi: adderall shortage, the impact on doctors and patients. reggie: 60 days of a strike, thousands of mental health workers marking the day with the demonstration. their demands. good morning. kumasi: let's start with a check of the forecast withdrew. drew: good morning. thick fog, the north bay is a problem spot. zoom into street level live doppler 7 showing you about a mile and half from petaluma to santa rosa and we do expect these numbers to stay or get worse over the next hour or so as the fog thickens in the valleys of the north bay communities. we keep our eyes on this but currently that is the only problem spot when it comes to dense fog erie we are in the

have missed out on two full months without a paycheck. into month three of what they're calling the longest mental health strike in u.s. history. this strike first started in the middle of august as around 2000 workers pushed kaiser to increase staffing and improve access to care. but the union representing health care workers says this anniversary comes as negotiations this week have still failed to produce an agreement. claiming patients are routinely waiting six to eight weeks between therapy sessions that should be weekly. they are asking for more hours week to respond to patient emails and voicemails, compile those from appointments, follow-up with social service agencies, and develop treatment plans. that will -- that lack of that time has caused many therapists to leave kaiser, meaning patients have even longer wait for therapy appointments. some therapists have returned back to work in this two-month span out of financial necessity

and kaiser thanks the nearly two thirds of workers for putting their patients first. in a statement on the website, kaiser added the union bargaining's demands will dramatically reduce access to mental health care for our members. in the meeting, the union evening knowledged their proposals will reduce the number of mental health care appointments. that is why workers are bringing their concerns to the headquarters of kaiser for a demonstration in oakland starting at 11:00, bringing patients, elected officials, and other allies with them. we will be there and will let you know what happens. live in walnut creek. reggie: thank you. we are waking up to the reality of another mass shooting in america, this time in raleigh, north carolina. jobina is at the live best tracking the investigation and this is the second time this week we have been confronted by deadly violence. jobina: yes, five people were killed last night on a trail near a golf course in raleigh. one of the victims is an

off-duty police officer but authorities have not formally identified any victims. the suspect was found several hours later inside of a home and taken into custody. police have not released many details about the suspect but abc news learned the suspect is a 15-year-old white male. north carolina's governor spoke about this last night. >> terror has reached our doorstep. a nightmare of every community has come to raleigh. jobina: the shooting in north carolina came a day after state troopers in bristol, connecticut were ambushed. two troopers died and a third injured, reportedly lured to the home with a 911 call cleaning domestic violence. when officers arrived, the gunman was outside of the house with an ar-15 and started shooting. that gunman in bristol was killed in the shootout. police say the same man was approached earlier in the night at a bar or disorderly conduct. reggie: this morning, san jose police are investigating another deadly crash.

officers responded to a residential neighborhood on sajak and lundy before 7:30 last night. they say the pedestrian who appears to be an elderly woman was hit by a car and died. the driver is cooperating. this is the 15th traffic data san jose this year and 28th that involved a pedestrian. the east bay freeway entrance is back open this morning after a truck you see here lost its trailer. you can see it ended on its side, blocking the ramp. this happened around 945 time last night in haworth at the entrance of highwood 92 near industrial boulevard. no one was hurt. kumasi: dozens of crockett residents are demanding to know more about the feller present across the city. -- foul odor across the city. it was a public meeting to address the situation at the city's wastewater treatment plant. they recently detected elevated levels of hydrogen sulfide coming from the plane causing the air around the city to smell like sewage.

the sugar factory rose a treatment facility and there's no evidence elevated levels of hydrogen sulfide are making anyone sick. it cnh says repairs have been done to fix the smell but the odor could linger for at least another week. reggie: abc7news is committed to building a better bay area by keeping an eye on our health. we are learning about a nationwide shortage of a popular drug used to treat adhd. tim johns explains what is causing adderall to be in such a short supply. >> i've had to call multiple pharmacies and they will talk to me. >> for weeks, millions of americans have been finding difficulty filling their prescriptions for immediate release adderall >> it's like a feeling when you first wake up in the morning you can't quite think. it is like the all day long without it. >> the red squares mean it is not available. >> adderall exist to be let medication often prescribed to treat treatments like adhd and narcolepsy. the shortage recognized by the food drug and ministration wednesday. the problem, according to

officials, has multiple causes. those being issues with supply chains and labor shortages on top of a spike in demand following the pandemic. in a statement, the largest manufacturer of adderall in the u.s. said "the supply we are manufacturing and us are beating now is on pace to be consistent or greater than our supply at this time last year by the end of this year. the shortage is also noticeable -- year." the shortages also noticeable in the bay area where pediatricians impact -- save it impacts their patients lives. >> they could impact their day, there self in school, their ability to get organized and home. > if you cannot find a policy -- pharmacy to fill the prescription, it's possible to talk about other factors -- other options. >> it takes a long time to find the right medicine for the child. or adolescence.

to change it really is something we have to tread lightly on. >> in san francisco, tim johns, abc7news. kumasi: former secretary of state hillary clinton is calling for californians to and -- in trying abortion rights and our constitution. she was in san francisco to discuss reproductive rights and participated in a discussion about proposition one, on the voters ballot. >> california, you get delivered a ballot. then goodness you do but it does no good if people do not open it up and actually fill it out so there has to be more energy, more visibility, and excitement about the opportunity to vote. kumasi: abortions have been legal in california for many years, so the amendment would mostly be symbolic but it comes at a time when other states are limiting and in some cases eliminating abortion access. there are seven statewide propositions to vote on and we

reggie: we are learning more details about a cash robbery filling up an armored car. the suspect, who has been arrested, is a former coworker of the victim. here is j.r. stone. >> 60-year-old john mendez was a military veteran described as having an infectious personality

by his family on this gofundme page was shot and killed working as an armored truck security guard last month on kaiser hospital's in san leandro him. his truck was also robbed. >> the gross lack of respect for humidity and this guy died doing his job for probably a few thousand dollars. >> thursday, police confirmed the suspected gunman was behind bars and will face a murder charge. as for how the arrest was made, investigators received information from the security company that bay had previously worked for them. in fact he worked with the victim for five days and was familiar with the route. that's according to court documents that also say bay and another man were terminated for stealing money from the company. with the help of surveillance video, phone records, and the

fbi, police tracked bay to his home in oakland through an associate of his that he was believed to have been with during the killing and robbery. court documents show he was in possession of a gold 2004 porsche from the security guarded -- guard company stated to officials that it was suspicious bay had a security and cell phone after money was stolen during this robbery and homicide. a search warrant was served in oakland. a short time later, police say bay gave a full confession. during the search, detectives located evidence inside of his residence they say was used during the robbery. former san jose police investigator and security consultant michael ettinger. >> you are looking at potentially two or three people involved in this. they took a humans life for no valid reason whatsoever. >> this case has links to san

leandro, oakland, and vacaville. police are seeking additional suspects, accomplices, and witnesses, and the former officer said credit should be given to the san leandro police department forgetting that confession and getting it quickly. j.r. stone, abc7news. kumasi: starting today, the national park service will take action to protect all 11 of california's giant sequoia groves from wildfire. rangers will thin vegetation around the grove by hand and then use small prescribed burns to get rid of dead trees and other debris. this will take place in sequoia and national parks in the central larry -- central valley. up to 19% of the giant sequoia's were killed by wide fire in the past two years. just up the road, yosemite has been named the best national park in america. pace magazine put out the ranking this week saying the iconic glacier point at the park had the best view in all of america.

response by 5:00 a.m. jobina: we did knock it a statement but we did get a hint of what the former president things. he sows did -- posted up series of articles one titled trump is right. there is not an official update on this time regarding the genuine select committee proceedings. however, one of the other articles had a headline that said "trump loves the idea of testifying before january 6 committee." we will keep watching this development and know if we get an official response and if it is released. reggie: today, kaiser mental health employs across the bay area will converge in oakland outside of kaiser's corporate headquarters. workers are marking 60 days since the start of their strike. we now land is live in walnut creek with more. lena. >> mental health therapist here from kaiser in walnut creek and from across the state are now going into the third month of
