the armed suspect brandished his weapon. cornell barnard joins us live from sonoma with details. talk about a scary situation. >> very scary. a very rare night of violence here in sonoma. i should have between sheriff's deputies and an armed man taking place right here on napa street. the deputies were not injured. it was a night of chaos and lots of broken glass. >> weird bunch -- a bunch of gunfire. it did not even seem real. >> martin was working a private party when he and his dad witnessed a shootout between sonoma county sheriff's deputies and an armed man. >> we told everyone just inside, we locked our front door. i went up and make sure that everyone in the bar knew they

had to exit out the front door and now the back door. >> the santa rosa police department is the agency investigating. they say the suspect had been terrorizing some tourists on sonoma plaza. >> the suspect was trying to break the window of a passing limousine. >> the deputy immediately noticed the suspect might have a gun or was told to drop several times. he refused to comply with that. the deputy responded with firing back at the suspect. crespo lycée the suspect was struck but authorities say the man ran toward japanese when the second officer fired. quick saw him roll over into the street. a lot of blood. it was like out of a movie. >> the man was taken to the hospital. i need to call my insurance.

police said the suspect broke windows at nearby businesses including lisa chan's abby garden restaurant, leaving a sea of broken glass. >> why would they do that to me? >> usually, sonoma is a very peaceful tourist destination. >> he says he is praying for the suspect possible family and praising the brave work of deputies. >> i am very grateful of the diligence of law enforcement for the response and investigation for this tragic case. >> the mayor now offering deceptive businesses impacted by the vandalism. his name has not been released. they say he has a criminal record but they did not offer any details. a motive here is still unclear. a very scary night in sonoma.

>> a story we will stay on top of. moving on, stockton residents are resting easy following the arrest of a man suspected of killing six men. there was one lone survivor. the brush with death still haunts her. she says she was standing next to train tracks and stockton when she suddenly saw a gun pointed at her. >> it was on the side and then a man came around the corner or whoever came around the corner and they already had the gun out. they just started shooting. there were no words exchanged, they did not say anything. they didn't come any closer, they just started to shoot. i just saw flashes. i ran toward him knowing i would have to get closer to the street if i wanted to survive. >> natasha said she was lucky and seem to shortly after successful escape. we will hear more of her survival story and get the very latest in the investigation.

happening tomorrow, the commemoration of a 1989 earthquake. tomorrow marks 33 years since the 6.9 magnitude earthquake rocked the bay area and other parts of northern california. the marina earthquake monument committee and the san francisco fire department are hosting a ceremony tomorrow afternoon at fire station 35. the ceremony will also mark the first ever recognition here. the quake lasted 20 seconds and caused severe damage in many parts of the city. especially in the marina district. also happening, it will be in the south bay to announce $2.7 million of funding for three local projects. the funding appropriated by congress will go toward improving the environment. san jose state is among the three organizations excepting a check presented by lofgren. holmes was granted a limited motion hearing on efforts to get

a new trial. the hearing will determine if the government engaged in misconduct. a jury convicted her back in january on four counts of defrauding investors of more than $144 million. the sentencing date is set for november 18. moving to the east bay with new details where investigators are calling a shooting in pittsburgh on friday night a case of domestic violence. investigators say the victims were traveling on civic avenue when another car collided with them. the driver fired multiple rounds into the vehicle and fled the scene. the trial has -- the child has a single non-life-threatening wound to the shoulder. both are in the hospital in stable condition. police said the suspect and the victim knew each other and the suspect specifically targeted that mother.

a community in morning this weekend after five lives were lost in a shooting rampage in north carolina. the suspect a 15-year-old boy is currently hospitalized after sustaining serious injuries. officials tell abc news one of the victims of the shooting was related to the suspect. this abc news reporter has more. quick this community in raleigh, north carolina coming together to honor the victims of thursday's deadly shooting rampage. >> this community is reeling. there is a senselessness to things like this. >> residence still shocks this happens in their neighborhood. >> n.l. you hear that everywhere, just how comfortable we are here and then having to be on guard in your home is challenging. >> five lives brutally taken away. the o'connors was killed along with her dog, sammy.

also killed was this mother of three. mary marsh was a navy veteran. she was just weeks away from her wedding. her fiancé writing this woman was my everything. she meant so much to me and her parents and sister. this 29-year-old off-duty police officer, gabriel torres, a marine that was gunned down on his way to work. james thompson was a high school junior. dramatic 911 calls describe some of the chaos. a 15 euros suspect now in custody. he is still in the hospital. a law enforcement official telling abc news that among the dead is one of the shooters relatives. the da saying she intends to try the suspect as an adult and as

>> for a third straight election, california voters are being asked to decide on a measure to regulate dialysis

clinics across the state. california would amend the state health code to require dialysis clinics to have a licensed medical professional on-site during treatment or in some cases, available virtually during treatments. it would also establish other state requirements of clinics. those include requiring them to disclose when physicians have 5% or more clinic ownership and report infection data to the state. it is almost identical to the 2020 measure that failed. you will be voting on seven statewide propositions and publish an expedition for each one. it is for your connected tv devices. you can find on your roku, apple tv, android tv or amazon fire. just check out the app and check at the california elections 2022 section. just ahead, picking up the pieces.

>> fema has opened a disaster recovery center in florida in the wake of hurricane ian. damage from the tropical storm took a heavy toe on the community. officials say over 600 homes were damaged, totaling about $38 million.thatoenot inclu mlions more that may be needed to repair the county infrastructure. fema says it is available to help those who lost everything. they have been through so much in this part of the country. because the recovery is so tough. some people take a long time to recover.

it is just very sad. we are very fortunate that we don't get that kind of extreme weather here. here is a look at what is happening in the bay area right now. breezy conditions. onshore flow. we call it a cooling onshore flow. it has kept -- it has helped keep temperatures down. many locations near the coast and bay are two or even four degrees warmer than yesterday. here we are near partly clear skies. it is 65 degrees. oakland is 64. san jose, 67. 60 five in santa clara. how cool is this view from emeryville on the setting sun? a beautiful colorful view here as the clouds add some texture to the setting sun. reflecting some sunlight here.

63 degrees right now in santa rosa. fairfield, 67. another view of the setting sun from a higher elevation from the east bay hills. forecast had the headlines -- here are forecast headlines. maybe some spotty drizzle near the coastline. gray skies will be with us tomorrow morning. cooler than average. one more day. for the overnight hours, look for clouds to eventually redevelop. some high clouds. maybe a patch or two of drizzle. all of this as the commute gets underway. we don't expect visibility to be reduced very much at all. we will have that mix of sun and clouds. on we go. look for low temperatures mainly in the mid-50's. a little cooler up in the north bay were some locations will have low temperatures dropping into the upper 40's.
