bittersweet goodbye from customers. denmark bakery has been in business for 93 years, and tara campbell captured what makes them so special. reporter: heavy hearted customers waiting for hours on sunday for one last taste of a taste of denmark. >> a wonderful bakery. reporter: 493 years, this bakery has been serving up everything from butter cookies to cakes. >> my parents had their wedding cake here, i re-created it for their anniversary, and i have gotten every one of my kids' cakes here. >> it is a staple in oakland and it is sad to see them go. tara: she has been coming here for her entire life. >> it started here in a stroller

dion: a remarkable story coming out of west oakland. a cane wielding grandmother saved another senior. take a look. tonight, i spoke to that woman who ran up to help. she is known a 76-year-old ms. fay. she witnessed that man coming out to snatch her elderly neighbor's purse last month. ms. fay, using her cane, jumped in to break up the robbery attempt, even throwing her cane at the car. were you scared to jump in? most of the time people were worried there might be a gun. >> fear never crossed my mind because i am crazy, i guess.

[laughter] i don't know. it is just something that is in my nature. i do things and it does not bother me until a couple of hours later. dion: she is something. because of miss fay, the suspect did not get away with her neighbor's purse. law enforcement never encourages people to interfere with the crime in progress, so she is grateful because the situation could have been worse. she has this advice. >> just try to be neighborly, watch out for your neighbors and their surroundings, even for your personal self because so many things have been happening lately. not just in oakland but all over the world. just be aware of your surroundings. that is all i have to say about that. dion: good advice. oakland police tell me this is an active investigation and asks

anyone with information to come forward. i met activists set storm -- climate activists set storm again, this time at a set in germany. activists through to -- threw mashed potatoes at a painting of monday, and then lose themselves to the wall. the activists are drawing attention to the climate crisis. the works were not damaged because it was protected by glass. people got a one-of-a-kind experience today in san francisco. ♪ they had a chance to explore the war memorial opera house's and crannies. they offered the opportunity to get on stage. people also offered crafting workshops and conducting lessons. >> this building is one of the great opera houses of the world and it is a city building.

it is a cultural crown of san francisco and the bay area. dion: this month marks the opera hoe's 90th anniversary. the current season runs through july of next year and san francisco opera will celebrate its 100th season next year. quite a career, 100 years. getting to the weather, i think there were blankets out, get the heaters out. mike: close the windows. dion: i accidentally leave them open. mike: and i run the fan a lot. it will be a cold one out there, the first time we will be talking about frost. you can see how calm and clean and clear the night sky is as we head into tonight through tomorrow morning. as you look from the tower, we use this as the backdrop.

clear and calm conditions tonight where you may need the heater. that is something to think about also. breezy again on tuesday and wednesday, lesser than what we had over the weekend. remember saturday and howe coula week from today. you see the low and high pressure are drifting to parts of that gradient that are relaxing, which is why the winds will drop. this remains farther into the south where it has been, so the storm will come down. they will be mainly inside sliders and the gesture will move them towards us. most of it will fall in british columbia and the sierra like we had over the weekend. this is going to slide down the coast, leaving most of its moisture around seattle and portland and vancouver, and possibly dust the sierras with some rain.

that is going to bring us a few more breezes and also keep our temperatures average to below average for most of the week. your is a big difference. look at the temperature in the oceans. it keeps dropping thanks to the northerly winds. that is why temperatures are cooler in places like half moon bay. our destination tomorrow morning, a lot of mid-30's in our deepest valleys and low to mid 40's around most of the bay. 49 in san francisco. that would tie a record cold temperature, and that 46 in oakland will set one. if you are in those specific areas, watch out from 3:00 to 9:00 tomorrow, and you see we have the north bay, the peninsula coast, the east bay valleys, and other side of the santa clara valley. that is a change from 5:00 and 6:00. to tomorrow, we start to hit the

40's and 50's. 70's on the coast at 4:00. we are looking at 73 to 75 in the south bay, 78 to 73 on the peninsula, mid 70's on the coast. it is going to be a really nice night tomorrow. 74 to 76 in the north bay and clean air also in our inland east bay neighborhoods with temperatures in the mid-70's. here is a look at friday and saturday is dry, but sunday we are starting to look at the possibility of some drizzle. even showers are possible and temperatures will be cooler than, so a lot of 60's and 70's, and then 60's and 70's on sunday. dion: it takes the quiet because it will get crazy, knowing how the weather works. mike, thanks. still ahead on abc 7 news, the

>> building a better bay area, moving forward, finding solutions, this is abc 7 news. dion: the final stretch. there are just 16 days left until election day with the key races that will swing control of congress. the midterm races now have the attention of the nation and a new abc news poll shows that republicans are slightly ahead. 36% of those surveyed says they trust republican lawmakers to get inflation under control. compare that to 21% that favor the democrats. rachel scott is in nevada tonight with one crucial race that could shake up capitol hill. >> tonight with early voting underway in nevada, all eyes are on the race that could decide which party controls the senate. >> let's just get out that vote. [applause] >> let's take back nevada.

to net one seat to gain majority in the senate and five to win the house. democrats are hoping to hold the vote, believing that they are gaining ground. >> we are 20 states since congress adjourned, and i see very clearly that the ownership of the ground is with us. dion: that was rachel scott reporting. happening tomorrow, the family of former construction workers are set to learn their punishment for a major fraud case in the aftermath of the disastrous tubs fire. the accused the construction company of taking their money for sub par rebuilding work or work that was not done at all. the family ran a legitimate business but got over their heads after the fire wiped out more than 56 structures and killed 22 people. the accused husband, wife, and

daughter all pleaded no contest to fraud. [tires squealing] at least two sideshows this weekend in the east bay. this one in valeo lasted 20 minutes before police broke up the crowd. last year, valeo made it unlawful to be a spectator or promoter of sideshows within the city. four people were arrested under that ordinance and one vehicle was towed. take a look at this sideshow broken up in oakland. police say they received several calls about the sideshows at 2:00 this morning. there were also reports of gunfire and people setting off fireworks. officers say once they arrived, that crowd dispersed. now to an abc news exclusive. you are hearing from the uvalde, texas school employee who was blamed for leaving the door open

at robb elementary. authorities say that allowed the heavily armed gunmen onto the campus. amy marin says her life has been upended by the tragedy. the texas department of safety director later walked back in an initial statement, saying that marin did close the door behind her when seeing the gunman approaching, but the door did not latch -- lock. >> your job was to sit there and watch that video and see what happened from beginning to end, and you chose not to watch the whole video. you chose to blame me. >> is there any way they can make up for that? >> no, sir. dion: since the shooting, marin suffered a tremor and has difficulty speaking. the case against the trump organization is set to go on
