tweeted video wednesday of him carrying a kitchen sink into twitter headquarters in san francisco. hundreds have left twitter in recent months and musk reportedly told employees that he would not fire 75% of the workforce as some sources have speculated. there are still questions about that. >> if he's able to prove that he can do something with 25% of the current 7500 employees at twitter, what does that mean for pinterest? what does that mean for snapchat? that remains to be seen. i would be concerned about my job. reporter: a tech expert and san jose state university professor says less employees could be concerning when it comes to dealing with spam, hacking, and extreme content. >> what is free-speech? how would you define it?

something breaks. new details tonight in san jose where police are asking for help tracking down the driver responsible for a hit-and-run crash that injured a grandmother and her three-year-old grandson. it happened at sierra road. here's amanda del castillo. reporter: a daily walk almost turns deadly for this san jose grandmother and her three-year-old grandson. surveillance footage captured the moment a driver hit the 68-year-old woman, launching her from the marked crosswalk into the intersection of sierra road tuesday. the toddler strapped into a stroller, landing face down. the driver of the four door hatchback did not stop. >> it breaks my heart to see that video. it's traumatizing to see it. reporter: the boy's mom asked to speak anonymously. she says her mother-in-law walked back home where the family called police. >> she was ignoring all of this

horrible pain she was having. she kept asking whether the baby was ok. reporter: the family took the grandmother and baby to the hospital a short time later. grandma collapsed. according to the mother, grandma suffered broken ribs and shoulders and was admitted into the hospital. the neighbor arrived home and found the victims in the street. >> in the middle-of-the-road. she went down. the stroller looked upside down. the baby was inside the stroller. reporter: the boy is ok, suffering a bump and a scratch. residents say it could have been worse. this came at a time when traffic deaths across the city are on record pace. with that shocking surveillance footage, everyone is thinking about the surrounding schools, the speeding cars, and those who will be trick-or-treating for halloween. >> sometimes we tell people to think about how to make

25-year-old woman whose burned body was found last week in antioch. they were charged with arson and mutilating a corpse but not murder as of this moment. michaela's family showed up in numbers at the courthouse today. the deputy district attorney is determined to get justice for them. >> their families get justice as swiftly as possible. that's what we are fighting for. dan: firefighters found the body near a trail last monday. police were able to identify her through dental records and burned jewelry. another court hearing is set for next tuesday. a former worker at the federal women's prison pleaded guilty today to sexually abusing an inmate. the 50-year-old accepted a plea of one count of sexual abuse. chavez was a food worker at fci dublin when he groped an inmate in a locked pantry. he could face two years in prison and a fine when he is

sentenced in february. four other prison employees were recently accused of sexual abuse. two of them have pleaded guilty. new 11:00, federal agents weighing in on whether parents need to be worried about the possibility of drugs mixed in with trick-or-treat candies. agent spoke in southern california today and say common sense is all parents need. pay attention. authorities at the los angeles airport seized 12,000 fentanyl pills packed in candy boxes and wrappers. the dea says the drugs were not intended to be distributed on halloween but hidden from police. it never hurts obviously for parents to double check. >> just pay attention. in all aspects. making sure you see where they are going, who they are with, how they are navigating the streets. also, what candy they are bringing into the house. dan: one of the bigger risks on halloween night is safety on the streets. data shows pedestrians between

four and eight years old see an increase in fatalities on halloween night. a reminder for parents to watch their kids and for all of us drivers to be extra careful. gas stations may be going out of style in the north bay. the city council voted unanimously on tuesday to enact a new gas tasted -- station ban. it attempts to transition to electric vehicles. novato joins other cities in this initiative. current gas stations in the city will remain open but will not be allowed to add any new pumps. the council will likely vote on a final proposal at its next meeting in november. residents of san francisco's fastest-growing neighborhood will finally get the school they've been fighting for for such a long time. today was a ground breaking ceremony for an elementary school in mission bay that will be ready for enrollment by 2025. the school would be built near nelson rising lane.

it's made possible by a $750 million bond measure that sfusd announced back in 2016. >> our intention is to get these projects delivered and ready so voters can hopefully support us again in making more investments in our schools which are really needed. dan: from that bond measure, $110 million will go to build the school in mission bay. the rest of the money has been used to renovate and modernize existing schools. the district says 85% of those projects have now been completed. a lot more to get to. take a look at this. amount lyon goes on a stroll through a los angeles suburb and leads officials on a chase. and it's the swansong for peninsula congresswoman jackie spear. hear from her at one of her last town halls. a look at the race to replace her in washington. sandhya: bringing back the storm impact scale. when things return wet and windy around here.
