monday we learned of the federal charges against him including assault and attempted kidnapping, then the states charges against him. >> attempted murder, residential burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, false imprisonment of an elder as well as threat to a public official and their family. >> district attorney brooke jenkins also detailed the allegations against depape. she says it is believed he forced his way into the home through the pelosi's back door by breaking the glass. depape made his way upstairs where jenkins says he woke up paul pelosi and confronted him about the whereabouts of nancy who was not home. paul pelosi was able to go to the bathroom and called 911 on his cell phone. jenkins detailed the moments officers arrived. >> when the door was open the defendant was holding his hammer which mr. pelosi appeared to be

attempting to control by holding a portion of that hammer. >> the defendant pulled the hammer away from mr. pelosi and violently struck him in the top of his head. >> the pack -- depape told sfpd that he was going to hold nancy hostage saying he would let her go if she told the truth and if he -- she liked he was going to break her kneecaps. if half of what you read online about this individual is true, someone that clearly has psychological issues that need to be addressed and considered by the defense team before they enter a plea in this case. >> clarks is the fact they're already federal charges along with state charges is somewhat unusual. >> this is very much in response to the events of january 6
