politically motivated. lena: four days after the attack on paul poulos he his own home, the suspect will face a judge for the first time today here at the hall of justice. keep in mind he is facing state and federal charges. this comes after district attorney burke jenkins filed a laundry list of charges yesterday including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, a residential burglary, elder abuse, false imprisonment of an elder on top of threats to a public official and their family. on top of these charges he's also facing federal charges including assault of an immediate family member of the u.s. official with the intent to retaliate against the official and attempted kidnapping of the u.s. official. stephen clark says the fact there are already federal charges along with the state

jobina: 13 people were injured in the shooting. the youngest victim was three years old. chicago police say it happened at a park where a vigil was being held. someone drove up and started shooting. officials say was over in a matter of seconds. >> we know it's a drive by, we know it in a few seconds. it began and it's over and three seconds as cars pull out after driving by shooting randomly into the crowd. >> a 14th victim was hit by a car but police say it's not clear if that was related to the shooting. so far no arrests have been made in a motive is not clear. reggie: the only surviving suspect in the murder of an oakland dentist is set to be arraigned today. the 33-year-old was hired to kill the doctor by his boyfriend. police arrested both suspect.

he died by suicide friday while in custody in jail. court document reveal that he had up to $14 million worth of property and assets paid he told investigators he was the trustee and set to receive about $1 million. kumasi: police in south san francisco are investigating a deadly crash between a bus and a pedestrian. this crash happened just before 8:00 last night at the south san francisco park station. sam trans is one of its buses hit and killed a pedestrian believed to be a man. no word if anyone on the bus was hurt. reggie: new developments in the deadly shooting in the north bay. the family killed by sheriff deputies in july is reportedly shooing the -- suing the sheriff's department. he found him in the woods near geiser hill before the shooting. going to the press, the lawsuit claims his rights were violated and that shooting but also

accuses the county of encouraging excessive force and added -- inadequate training, hiring people with problematic history, having poor procedures to report and investigate. sheriff's department has not responded to the accusations. kumasi: oakland police apartment became the latest bay area agency offering a hiring bonus. they are reporting the city council approved a $10,000 bonus. candidates get paid half when they passed a field training program and get the other half after a year-long probation period. cities have all offered incentives to new hires or to transfer officers. reggie: one of the last pandemic masking rules is just ended and the east bay. masks are now encouraged at large indoor events in oakland. the ordinance that applied to events with wi-fi people are more just expired. physicist can still set their own mask rules. >> some in san francisco could be getting a new look today is

mass layoffs could make things tough for tech workers looking for jobs who have been laid off from other tech companies recently. there is talk about people with verified twitter accounts having to pay to keep that status. that could cost $20 a month. there is a five dollars a month subscription service called twitter bluetooth that lets people do things like edit tweets, and charging people more than i could turn a lot of people and advertisers away. there are also reports that musk has instructed engineers to work on a buying reboot. twitter shut down the app in 2016, but musk conducted a recent twitter poll and votes were two to one to revive that. kumasi: this morning a warning from president biden to oil companies -- bring down gas prices or else. he is threatening new taxes on oil companies, but they are pushing back. jobina: president biden is threatening a windfall tax on oil and gas companies as they report record profits.

he is accusing them of more profiteering, but these companies like exxon mobil and chevron say a new tax would do the opposite of what the president wants. they claim the high prices are due to supply and demand. pres. biden: div me a break. enough is enough. if they don't, they're going to pay a higher tax and face of the restrictions. my team will work with congress to look at these options. jobina: we should note that congress is not in session until after the election. if republicans retake either chamber they have already said that regulations should be loosened to increase production, and we should also mention gas prices continue to drop. current average in california is $5.54. reggie? reggie: thank you. election day is one week from today and more than 21 million americans have already cast ballots.
