politically motivated. our reporter lena howland is live at the hall of justice, where the suspect is set to appear later today. lena: four days after the attack on paul poulos he his own home, the suspect, a 42-year-old david, will face a judge for the first time today at the hall of justice. keep in mind, he is facing both state and federal charges. this comes after district attorney brooke jenkins filed a laundry list of charges against him yesterday, including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, residential burglary, elder abuse, false imprisonment of an elder, on top of threats to a public official and their family. the man also faces federal assault and attempted kidnapping charges. local legal analyst stephen clark says the fact that there are already are all charges, along with the states charges, says something. >> this is very much in response

to the events of january 6, because the federal government is now saying we are going to protect our members of congress, and this kind of behavior is going to be prosecuted very vigorously. lena: another new detail we learned yesterday, the man told san francisco police investigators in an interview that he was going to hold nancy hostage and talk to her, adding he would let her go if she told the tooth. if she lied, he would break her kneecaps. he is expected to be in court here for his arraignment starting at 1:30 this afternoon. this is only for the state charges. federal court will happen on another day. live in san francisco, leta helen, abc 7 news. reggie: thank you. the attack has also highlighted deep conspiracies been shared online, even by well-known people like elon musk aired it is a reminder of how divided the country has become and how so much of it is fueled by social media.

or about 40 to 50 people were there. police held a press conference overnight. they did not confirm the identity of the person who died, but they did say that two members of the group were there. abc news cannot confirm if any of the rappers were among the victims. developing news, more than one dozen people have been injured in a halloween shooting in chicago. police say that some of these victims were children. jobina: 13 people were injured in the shooting. the youngest victim is just three years old. no one was killed, think fully. chicago police say this happened where a vigil was being held. someone drove up and started shooting. officials say it was over in a matter of seconds. >> we know it was a drive-by, we know what happens in just a few seconds. it begins and is over in about three seconds. the car is pulling out after driving by and shooting randomly into the crowd. jobina: a 14th victim was hit by

car, a police say it is not clear if it was related to the shooting. the motive is not clear this morning. reggie: the only surviving suspect in the murder of an oakland dentist is set to be arraigned today. authorities say a 33-year-old was hired to kill a doctor by her boyfriend. police arrested both suspects last thursday. one died by suicide on friday while in custody in santa rita jail. court documents reveal the doctor had up to $14 million worth of property and assets. the boyfriend told investigators he was the trustee and set to receive about $1 million medially after her death. kumasi: this morning, police and save -- in south san francisco are investigating a deadly crash between a bus and a pedestrian. it happened just before 8:00 last night at the south san francisco bart station. sam trans says one of its buses hit and killed a pedestrian

believed to be a man. there is no word if anyone on the bus with her. reggie: a development on the deadly shooting in a north bay. a man killed by sonoma county sheriff's deputies are reporting -- are reportedly suing the department. police approached the man in the woods of geyserville before the shooting. according to the press, they claim his rights were violated in the shooting. it also accuses the county of encouraging excessive force, and at a quick training, hiring people with pragmatic histories -- problematic histories, and not enough to getting debbie's. the department has not responded to the accusations. kumasi: oaklands police department has become the latest bay area agency offering a hiring bonus. the oakley city council just approved a $10,000 bonus for new hires. candidates get paid half when they passed the field training program and the other half after a year-long probation period. cities like alameda and palo alto have all offered incentives to new hires or to transfer

there's talk about people with verified twitter accounts and a blue checkmark having to pay to keep that status. it could cost $20 per month. there is a five dollar per month subscription service, called twitter blue, that lets people do things like edit tweets. charging people more than that could turn a lot of people and advertisers away. there are also reports that musk has instructed twitter engineers to work on buying reboots. they shut down a tiktok like video app in 2016. but after a recent twitter poll, boats were two to one to revive it. kumasi: a warning from president biden to oil companies. ring gas prices down or else. jobina, he is threatening new taxes on these company's, but they are already pushing back. jobina: president biden is threatening a windfall tax on oil and gas companies as they report record profits. he is accusing them of war profiteering. but these companies like at --
