pat pleaded that david depape pleaded not guilty. we learned killing new details about what prosecutors alleged depape was planning, and a warning to you, this is graphic. a court filing indicated depape was on a suicide mission and politicians -- mission and plants target other state and federal politicians. paul pelosi woke up in a pool of his own blood after depape hit him with a hammer. cameras not allowed, but courtroom entered the courtroom with a sling on his arm. his public defender said several times he is vulnerable to misinformation, making it clear he would be thoroughly looking into his mental state. we ask district attorney brooke jenkins about that, but she was quick to point out there to be no assumptions of mental illness

order for both speaker pelosi and her husband that requires depape have no contact with them and stay away from her home. as the speaker mentioned last night, at age 82, paul is making steady progress and what will be a very long recovery. depape will remain detained at the san francisco county jail without bail. his preliminary hearing date will be set this friday at 9:00 a.m. he waived his right to have that hearing within a 10-day period, so it will happen sometime within the next 60 days, up until january 3. dan and ama, there will be time to prepare for that hearing, questions about body camera footage, that 911 call pelosi made, as well as witness testimony made. we are told the hearing is expected to be five hours long. we are live in san francisco tonight, stephanie sierra, abc 7 news. ama: thank you give you can dive

and he had obviously a love and a need for money, and that is what broke him to where he eventually ended. dion: court documents show his estimated net worth at around $12 million to $14 million. basin was arraigned tuesday and will not enter a plea until november 15. he remains in jail. in the east bay, dion lim, abc 7 news. dan: the family of a fremont police captain who died earlier this year is now suing the city wrongful death suit follow behalf of the widow of fred bobbitt junior called severe emotional distress that contribute to bobbitt's death. he had been a police officer for 30 years and was getting close to retirement. fremont city officials have not responded to our request for comment.

ama: the fight for local school or maybe some of the most contentious races on the ballot. it is something liz kreutz has been tracking. dan: very closely. she reports from contra costa county. liz: in contra costa county, concern over this year's school board races can be traced back to a single yard sign. >> back to education in lafayette. liz: chad, who runs a facebook group called chronically right wing extremism, said it seems reminiscent of make america great again. he made in question, who are these candidates running for school board, and what is their agenda? >> what are we getting back to, and where we going that they don't want to go? liz: the sun, it turns out, are part of three candidates part of a loosely coordinated group of parents who are frustrated by how schools handled the pandemic and decided to run for

school board, but chad said it is part of a larger effort we covered across the bay area in conservatives of school board positions. he is one of more than 500 parents who signed a petition in the area against these candidates. one piece of these, wife of supreme court justice clarence ch ginni thomas. chad: conservatives have explicitly said we, conservatives, need to take over schools. >> i believe the crowd said virginia thomas donated. liz: although the donation did not go directly to him, it did go to one of the two other candidates he is running with, and he also has ties to prominent conservatives, including two venture capitalists peter teal and david sachs, who helped with the

district attorney recalls. he also served on president trump of the transition team, but he does not say he is politically motivated. >> i am not a republican. i identify as conservative. liz: he says he never volunteered with donald trump. >> my main priority is improving the academic performance of the schools, into a large degree, the current board is focused on things other than academics. liz: chad believes he is hiding his real agenda, pointing to focusing on academic excellence over ideology. chad: what that says to me is they believe we are focusing too much on diversity education and too much on gender issues and that is costing our students in terms of their education. >> there's nothing coded in this. it is all i want to focus on. it is what i think is important. liz: they acknowledge the heightened interest in this race
