the response to the booster is about the same as the original shot. pfizer and biontech are conducting clinical trials of the boosters and testing them against other variants. doctors say this is an important way to renew your protection from covid, especially as we head into the winter months. people as young as five are eligible for those shots. reggie? reggie: this morning, the outbreak of rsv infections in children is now being blamed for the death of a child in michigan. hospital pediatric beds are above capacity in several states and cases of rsv are more severe this year compared to years past. overnight, there is some hope. the european commission approved a monoclonal antibody injection that protects newborns. >> we have been looking for ways to protect from rsv for close to 50 years. we don't think this is going to

stop all infection from rsv, but it is designed to stop rsv from being a serious disease and causing severe lung infections. reggie: a new vaccine should be available next year in the united states. kumasi: new battle lines are being drawn around california in the fight against homelessness. governor newsom says he is not happy with the way cities and counties are working to fix the problem, so he has rejected plans from every local government in the state and is withholding $1 billion of funding. local leaders say they are not surprised. >> we spent over $1 million in san francisco, so it is not a money problem. it is coordination, creativity, and a larger vision problem. >> i don't know why the governor thinks that local communities have more money to use than what they are doing.
