that is all aiming to the bay area in the next several days as we look at live doppler 7 right now the fog not an issue this morning. we're talking cooler temperatures 48 half moon bay. there's a little bit of patchy fog but not the dense fog that we saw yesterday cooler santa rosa at 43 53 hayward 54 in san jose and our 24-hour. change keeps us anywhere from two to 90 degrees colder primarily in the north bay this morning. so we're dry today a level one system kicks in late tonight, cloudy skies upper 50s to near 60 and then by nine o'clock the rain is pushing into sonoma county into marin county, and we have a pretty strong system that will arrive overnight and the core of this system coming in 24 hours later. so we'll talk about what that means rain totals and the cold week ahead coming up. all right, lisa. thanks again. new this morning. nobody won the powerball jackpot, which means tomorrow night's drawing will be a whopping one point nine billion dollars and even though nobody hit the large pot at least one ticket worth more than one

about missing local woman alexis gabe. i mean, i feel like a lot of us. thought it was a possibility, but there was a little bit of hope that maybe she was somewhere police confirming the 24 year olds partial remains were located thursday in plymouth, california in amador county. she disappeared on january 26th where she was last seen leaving the antioch home a former boyfriend marshall jones, her car was found in oakley, but there was no sign of her investigators determine jones drove to the spot where alexis's remains were found just hours after her disappearance police shared grim details with the gabe family about the trash bags. jones was seen carrying to his mother's house the gabe spoke to us in august seeing more than one egg. we question the policing. so what does that supposed to mean this does that mean? she's in pieces marshall curtis jones a 27 year old male and a resident of antioch.

killed alexis at his home on or about january 26th. 2022 jones was killed near seattle in june when police moved into arrest him. there were large-scale communities searches for alexis the class kids foundation assisted in the efforts founder mark classes own daughter polly was murdered in the 1990s. it's an also we can find a way to move forward into honor alexis life the gabe family requesting privacy, but posted information on facebook on their plans to honor alexis with a celebration of life memorial next january and a candlelight vigil on december 9th the family saying i hope you can come pray with us alexis what appreciate your presence that night oakley police plan to give further details at a news conference on monday morning in oakley cornell bernard abc 7 news the contra costa county district attorney's office released a statement that reads in part quote. we are hopeful that the

discovery of alexis is partial remains will provide the gabe's a sense of closure to this tragedy. we're also hopeful that the discovery will provide law enforcement with additional evidence in the ongoing investigation of her death. alright another grab-and-go robbery at a bay area mall, palo alto police told abc 7 news that just before 7pm yesterday five suspects rushed into the burberry store at stanford shopping center. they threatened to hurt the employees as they grab several handbags and then dash out of the store all of the suspects were wearing gray wearing gray hooded sweatshirts and black mass. nobody was injured. an update on a fiery car crash that killed two people at el camino real in redwood city some people stop by yesterday to leave flowers at the site to mourn the victims the crash caused major damage to both cars and one vehicle caught on fire 17 year old driver and two passengers a 17 year old driver and two passengers were in that car. they have non-life threatening injuries.

tahoe ski season traditionally gets going around thanksgiving but this week's snowfall and a big storm moving in could pack the slopes earlier with skiers and snowboarders abc 7 news reporter on sir hassan. so some people are anxious to finally head up to the sierra. jeffrey click and his family are preparing for snow season trying on snow boots for their trip to tahoe at the sports basement in walnut creek. it's really exciting. i mean, i'm trying to you know teach these guys a little bit about the snow and culture and the mountains and getting outdoors a little bit more. so we're really excited to get started click grew up snowboarding in switzerland. but this will be the first time his two young kids. go skiing. what do you most excited about? time click returns to the snow since the pandemic just rebounding from the pandemic is likely to draw a huge crowds to tahoe this season since kevin cooper who monitors activity around the tahoe area. i have a feeling that what we'll do is we're gonna see

san francisco headquarters in the north bay the poly class community theater in petaluma holds a grand reopening celebration. it was originally dedicated and honor of 12 year old poly class in 1994 following her disappearance and murder class was known throughout the community as a passionate theater performer local performers took to the stage to mark thehebiedthter w ws as pt f its long awaited return the poly class foundation raised more than one million dollars to bring the theater back to life. i worked the class foundation has done since the tragedy has been absolutely incredible. and anything we can do to continue to support that. you know, i have a 12 year old daughter now myself and i think about poly a lot and i think about the class family a lot. so anything we can do to help. the 110 seat peter was originally built as a church in 1911. the houston astros and former giants manager dusty baker are waking up as world champions this morning. there goes the runner fly ball down the right field line tucker

several people jumped out of a vehicle near that bar and just started shooting. they got back in the vehicle and drove away. please believe the shooters may have recognized and targeted somebody in that crowd two of those hurt are in critical condition. aaron carter largely known for his breakout pop song i want candy has died at 34 the 90s teen idol was found dead in his bathtub at his southern california home aside from his music career carter acted on popular teen tv shows like lizzie mcguire and sabrina the teenage witch. he was also the younger brother to backstreet boys. nick carter officials did not provide information about a possible cause of death. and your health is one of the focal points of building a better bay area this morning bay area children's hospitals are packed with sick kids abc 7 news reporter tara campbell talked to emergency doctors who are sounding the alarm. this situation right now with rsv and other viruses respiratory viruses is basically our march 2020.

this is our pandemic dr. jackie. grubb. phelan is division chief of pediatric emergency medicine at ucsf benioff children's hospitals overseeing both facilities in oakland and san francisco. we've had our highest volume days at oakland and san francisco. in any time that we've been recording in the past five years, she says rsv and other respiratory illnesses are kids much harder than covid our icus are at capacity. we have boarding. children in the emergency department that haven't even been sent up to the floor because all of the hospital beds have been taken and these hospitals are relied on far beyond the borders of san francisco and oakland typically taking in countless transfers. we have not been able to take children who we normally take from outside into our intensive care units and into our acute care side of the hospital.

we are very severely affected right now. maritza solaris is the mother of three children all of them right in that risky age range for rsv and other respiratory illnesses. i don't want my kids to get it. it's scary. it's a it's another just thing that we have to keep our kids safe from i do worry that with the uptake across the country they could get affected possibly hospitalized. we just try to be safe where the masks whenever possible watch our hands all of that and the doctor says parents also need to be on the lookout for symptoms of rsv. what parents can look for is increased work of breathing inability to take liquids not being able to urinate at least two or three times a day looking more listless and not being as active. these are things that we would really want to check in with our primary care doc. and that was tara campbell reporting now the doctor says if your child does have symptoms, but they don't seem too severe your best bet is your family physician as the hospitals at the hospitals.

flights to tokyo as well sometime next year. good news is in for students who are in store for student loan borrowers in california. governor. gavin newsom is proposed a plan to ensure that any federal student debt relief will not be subject to state taxes newsom will work closely with the legislature on an early action plan over three million californians will receive up to 1.3 billion dollars in tax relief the proposal will be included in the governor's budget, which will be released in january. and lisa, alright 518 this morning. i know we've been tracking some rain and that shellier gray or weather. yes, 6:40 the official sunrise. how about that setting at 505 so we had that extra hour of sleep and we have a lot of rain that is going to come our way. and in fact, this is a kind of a couple days scenario. where one of these systems starts and the others just keep coming so hard to decipher between one and the next this will take us through election

day and wait to see the snow totals. they're projecting. here's a look at live doppler 7. where in the pacific northwest you can see all the action and we're going to see several disturbances from the northwest move and that direction to the southeast allowing for the rain to really accumulate and the possibility for thunderstorms low elevation snow. in fact, we're talking down to 3,000 feet here cold mornings, maybe some snowy peaks and really good amounts of rain 53 downtown right now. it is 43 santa rosa so cooler air in the north. we have a few pockets of a broken sky and we'll see the mid and high level clouds continue to filter and throughout the day 53 and hayward 54 in san jose and a look outside here where there is a breeze sitting where from about 25 to 30 miles an hour at sfo. so cloudy and cool today the rain returns tonight after nine o'clock in the north bay and looking at more rain possible thunderstorms is the colder air moves on in behind it on monday and on tuesday and with that we

get to see some embedded hell, this is a level one system tonight and we're looking at some heavy rain. is that cold front moves through a company by some very gusty winds and a soggy election day. so adding up all those days. it's going to be a pretty big deal for us take a look at today starting out with not a whole lot of clouds will continue to thicken out ahead of the system. it's a well to the north but by nine o'clock in the north bay will be getting rain in sonoma stopping this at one o'clock in the morning where the cold front. silver spread the entire bay area continues to march to the south and to the east and may as we get into two monday afternoon. we've got the cold unstable air. so they'll be pockets of heavier rain. you can see perhaps lake county getting a little bit of snow and then as we get into tuesday the actual low getting overhead of the bay area and that's where we're getting the very strong cells here into overnight monday and early tuesday for election day. check it out. very soggy right on through that commute seven o'clock in the

morning and then by tuesday afternoon, very chilly air and looking at those low snow levels, perhaps around mount hamilton looking at some of those snowy peaks. so check it out over an inch of rain for most of us. this is only going through tuesday night. so we still have a few more hundreds to pick up through early wednesday. so this is a decent rainmaker anywhere from three quarters of an inch, of course that rain shadow effect coming into play in the south bay. so perhaps not quite an inch there but still some really good totals our winter storm warning this mean right on through wednesday, and we are still talking upwards of four five in six feet of that heavy wet snow to start and then much colder air with those gusty winds breezy on the coast upper 50s 61 san mateo 60 in palo alto and the accuweather seven-day forecast that level one system the rain coming in nine o'clock tonight in the north bay more towards midnight in the south bay and then we get into the colder air the possibility of thunderstorms some hail monday tuesday the heavy rain for election day it is going to be

fact heavy rain coming in early morning. so this is only sunday and we are getting set for a soggy several days. it is 53 in sunnyvale 54 in san jose. so in the north bay much cooler with some pockets of clear sky 41 santa rosa the fog not an issue this morning, so we have that going for us, but 13 degrees colder in nevada this morning and that sunrise coming up at 6:40 and looking at a 505 sunset. so as we go through the day today high in mid-level clouds will continue to increase looking at upper 50s to near 60. we are dry, but it's a level one system as we get towards the evening check it out that rain line by 9 o'clock heading into healdsburg and this is the cold front that's going to bring in some breezy cold rain and the rainfall is just going to accumulate through the next several days. we'll talk totals in a few minutes liz. alright lisa. thank you with election day. just a few days away. both republicans and democrats are holding out. hope that they can control

congress and which party wins may be determined by a handful of races in california. will democrats or republicans win control of the house of representatives on tuesday? the answer could be determined by just a handful of key races in california. we have a situation in congress where a flip of five districts will determine who controls congress. so california does have the ability to impact the house in these competitive districts, pol. itical mitchell is tracking roughly seven tight races through the central valley down into southern, california. that includes district 47 in orange county. where a democratic congresswoman katie porter who has gone viral for her use of a whiteboard during congressional hearings is at risk of losing her seat. there are a number that are real nailbiters those range also from being some that are democratic held and some that are republican help in each of these districts at play all across the state is that there is a

significant latino electorate christian arana is the vice president of policy at the latino community foundation. he says latino voters could be critical and determining the outcome of these races and there's the future of the house my vehicles in california could ultimately decide who is in the majority come january 2023 both orana and mitchell say this is most true in two toss-up races district 22 in the central valley where republican and comment david valadeo is up against democrat assem. men rudy, salas and district 27 in northern la county where republican incumbent mike garcia is up against democrat. assemblywoman. christy smith. mitchell says their national modeling shows of democrats can flip these two seats, then they have a good chance of winning the house. that's how important that would be as a signal as to where the national mood is. and right now the national mood does seem to be swinging in republicans' favor as voters are concerned about issues like the economy and inflation to shore up some support though here in

the state governor newsom is campaigning for congresswoman katie porter in orange county today and mayor willie brown is hosting his annual free election day luncheon this tuesday. it happens every election day at john's grill in san francisco. it's attended by a who's who of bay area politics and it is open to everyone. this is a collection of people who are from the press people from the political world people holding political office people trying to hope politic office. people. wanted to be seen it happens right here at john's grill, and i am the host. i don't pay for a nickel of it, but i'm those the tradition for this luncheon began in the 1980s. this year's event is from 11:30 to 2:00 on tuesday at john's grill on ellis street. willie brown hopes to see you there and nationally former presidents are also hitting the campaign trail and these final days before the midterms. some key senate races are bringing high stakes for the future of the country.

i vividly remember a light bulb moment. i had early on when i was first to muse teaching artists. i was at oakland high school working with a group of cellists and i played some hide in for them and in the middle of it one of the kids yelled out energetically. is this a hoedown and i finished and i realized yeah, he was so right there was a part of the piece. that sounds like a hoedown and it was a great connection that i had with that kid. and it was there that i really recognized that our education were the music is actually the vehicle to connect with the students. death loves being part of the oakland symphony orchestra, but she also loves being part of
