republicans were on the ground in critical states like georgia and arizona over the weekend. in pennsylvania, three presidents were on the campaign trail. president obama and president biden both worked together. >> truth and facts and logic and reason, and basic decency are on the ballot. democracy itself is on the ballot. kumasi: it is a close race for an open senate seat in pennsylvania. former president donald trump rallied with oz, teasing his own entry into the 2024 race. democrats and republicans are on the ground in the final hours of the election. many people have already voted early here. 40 million people have cast their ballots, surpassing early voting members from 2018 for the midterm in that election. reggie: three candidates in the

oakland mayoral race will host a rally to get residents to complete and turn in their ballots. they are just three of 10 candidates racing to replace the outgoing mayor. that really starts at noon. kumasi: dozens of voting centers are cross -- are open across the bay area. this is a scene at city hall, with voter guides, volunteers, election workers there to help you cast your ballot. polls will be open tomorrow 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. if you get in the line by then, stay in line, because you have the right to vote. california law allows you to take up to two hours off of work without losing any pay. reggie: tomorrow, we will be livestreaming all results after the polls close. that is for three hours straight from 8:00 to 11 p.m. you can watch that with our abc 7 bay area news app on your smartphone or tv, and on channel seven on the air on satellite or cable. at 5:00, we go live to national

elections. abc 7 news 11:00 p.m., we will have a full recap of local results. kumasi: new questions this morning about elon musk's commitment to free speech after he threatened to suspend accounts that mimic his own. several celebrities changed their accounts to impersonate him over the weekend, criticizing his plan to charge eight dollars per month for verification. that plan has since been delayed. previously, he argued no user should pace -- should face permanent suspension. jack dorsey apologized to those who will be laid off. twitter is asking some workers to return. according to bloomberg, summer are laid off by mistake. reggie: facebook's parent company is preparing for its own large-scale layoffs.

coming down, sometimes even raining sideways, also bringing in pretty intense wind. this filled streets with standing water, while most of us were sleeping, before quickly moving east. marin county and f.a.r. battalion chiefs is cautiously optimistic this will close the book on a dry fire season. >> we're looking at rain coming sunday night, monday night come into tuesday. any additional rainfall we get is going to help really put an end to fire season, hopefully, for us and will in california. lena: we were also up in mill valley yesterday, or we saw people getting ready with everything from foods and parts, to stuff that stops leaks. a hardware store told us they are expecting to sell out as soon as the first raindrops fall. a good reminder for anybody out hitting the roads today, even if it is not raining where you are at, it might be a little bit

it's how it brings us together. kumasi: today, oakland police will give more information about the discovery of the remains of the missing woman. police say it and commodore county resident found part of the woman's remains late last week. the 24-year-old has been missing since january, when police believe her ex-boyfriend killed her. her family is organizing a candlelight vigil to celebrate her life. they are requesting privacy during this time. reggie: this morning, we are hearing from bay area center feinstein. she says she is "deeply disappointed in quote by the disinformation by prominent people on the other cited the aisle regarding the brutal attack against paul pelosi. the senator also added leaders

more moisture, and we found many people across the bay area celebrating this added moisture. take a lookthi he' lk at what things look like over in contra costa county just after midnight. we saw the rain really coming down, sometimes even raining sideways. we also saw heavy rain rolling across martinez and throughout the bay area. people at mill valley were getting storm ready, too, with everything from boots to tarps, to the stuff that stops leaks. a building supply hardware store says they are expecting to sell out as soon as the first raindrops fall. >> all the flashing, all the tarps, shop fax will go because it will be an oops moment. you have a leak and have to clean it up, get the water off the floor. >> i do hope it comes and i don't even mind if it floods, because it is rain. their decisions isn't right. jobina is at the live desk with what you can do to avoid misinformation and disinformation. jobina: this is extremely high stakes for both parties, with controlled the house and senate hanging in the balance. that has prompted an onslaught of mints information campaigns. cybersecurity experts at san jose state university says that what we are facing today is a phenomenon called "the truth decay." too much scrolling and not enough fact checking is threatening our country's democracy. >> any news about any election may be emotional. usually, that is the main purpose for the misinformation and disinformation, to talk to your emotions. jobina: he says will have a responsibility to verify sources. he is also calling into question elon musk's attempt to monetize the blue check that signifies a

person is verified on twitter. if everyone is verified, nobody is verified. musk says his mission is to make twitter an excellent source of information. reggie: there are some lesser-known measures on the ballot. in oakley, residents can vote on whether to change the language in the city charter to use gender inclusive and gender-neutral language. abc7news reporter gloria rodrigues in the newsroom with more on that. gloria: measure our would remove gender specific language. the measure would change words like "fireman" to "fireitcharte. thissromoman, not bark -- non-binary, firefighter department.

meredith is a firefighter in oakland and says that hearing the word "fireman" automatically negates a lot of people with that word. more inclusivity, more people want to be part of the organization and career. >> i think lane which is very important, especially in terms of inclusivity and by varsity. part of what we have been doing in oakland, and with the town firefighter group, it is exposing people to female identified folks and non-binary folks to the job of firefighter. changing the language from "fireman" to "firefighter" owners who we want to come in and also that people who are doing the job now. it is been quite a while that hasn't been just men doing the job. >> words matter. they really do. they can hurt or heal. our goal is definitely an open

fire department to be all-inclusive. i am really excited to hear about this. this is great. gloria: this was adopted in 2020, requiring gender inclusive language. it does not assume a specific gender. that would include when it comes to city laws, policies, and communications. if approve the amendments, the city charter with change accordingly. there does not seem to be much opposition to this measure. kumasi: you are invited. the former san francisco mayor wants to see you at his free election day lunch. this is a long-standing tradition. it happens every election day. it is open everybody. several candidates say they will be attending the lunch tomorrow. >> they come from all walks of life. republicans, immigrants, trunk,

kumasi: this morning, we are learning more about the death of singer aaron carter. he was found dead in his los angeles home of the weekend. last night, his brother, backstreet boys nick carter, pay tribute during the performance in london. reporter: an emotional tribute last night at this backstreet boys concert in london for the younger brother of singer nick carter, seen on stage holding back tears and receiving hugs. >> we have heavy hearts, because
