jobina: what voters decide will have an impact on the nation for decades. that is one reason democrats and republicans were on the ground and nickel states like georgia and arizona. in pennsylvania three presidents were on the campaign trail. former president obama and joe biden together for a rare appearance to rally support for john fetterman. pres. obama: truth and facts and logic and reason and basic decency are on the ballot. democracy itself is on the ballot. jobina: john fetterman and tv personality dr. oz are in a close race for eight open senate seat in pennsylvania. president trump rallied for dr. oz, teasing his own entry into the presidential race. while democrats and republicans on the ground, many people have already voted early.

40 million people have already cast their ballots. reggie? reggie: today three candidates in the oakland mayoral race will host a rally to get residents to turn in their ballots. they are just three of 10 candidates in the race to replace the outgoing mayor. the rally starts at noon. kumasi: dozens of voting centers are open across the bay area. this was the scene with voter guides, volunteers, election workers. polls will be open tomorrow from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.. if you're in line by then, stay at line. california law allows you to take up to two hours off work without losing any pay. reggie: will be livestreaming all of the results as soon as the polls close from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m.. watch that with our bay area app on your smartphone or smart tv. over the air on cable or

partly to mostly cloudy skies. showers entering the north bay this morning. coastal drizzle as well. in tahoe we are tracking snow that will bring feet of fresh power. snow levels down to 4000 feet this morning. let's go hour-by-hour this morning. into the afternoon everybody has a chance of seeing scattered showers throughout your monday. as we head to the later portion of the date and into early tuesday morning, here comes the next front. this cold front will bring gusty winds and also another round of heavier rain. take the umbrella with you. look at the total rainfall. through wednesday morning we have a chance of a half an inch to an inch and a half of wet weather. roadways are a concern. here is jobina with a look at traffic. jobina: we have a couple of problems to point out. we will start in the south bay.

on the exclusive abc 7 storm impact scale it is a level one today and tomorrow, the heaviest later tonight. we will timeout the storm at about nine minutes. reggie: if you're heading -- kumasi: if you're heading to the beach, beware of the water. waves could break at 15 to 20 feet. water was dangerous before these advisories begin. two people had to be arrested in pacifica and one of them died. one man jumped into action when he saw the swimmer struggling in the water. >> i jumped in and swim out there. by the time i got one of the guys i news the other was floating upside down. kumasi: the other swimmer was taken to a local hospital. there condition is not known. reggie: pg&e says they are prepared for any outages over the next few days. heavy rain hit overnight. people taking no chances as they prepare for several days of

rain. abc7news reporter lena holland is live in san francisco. lena: we found quite a few people celebrating this added moisture as firefighters are cautiously optimistic this could signal an end to fire season in northern california. here is look at the weather overnight. just after midnight we saw the rain coming down, sometimes even raining sideways, bringing in intense wind. this filled streets with standing water while most of us were sleeping. the south bay also getting a good soaking. over in vallejo, the rain was coming down. also bringing in intense wind. people in mill valley were getting storm ready yesterday with everything from boots and tarps to the stuff that stops leaks.

the oakland city charter to remove gender specific language. the charter still refers to the mayor using male pronouns. the measure would change words like firemen to firefighters. this is footage from the women, non-binary, and female identified fire camp in oakland. kaufman supports the measure. so does brooke meredith, who uses the pronouns they/them. meredith is a firefighter and says hearing the word firemen negates a lot of people with that word. meredith says with more inclusivity where people want to be part of the organization and career. >> i think language is very important, especially in terms of inclusivity and diversity. part of what we have been doing in oakland and with the town firefighter group is exposing people like female identified

folks and not binary folks to the chop of firefighter and changing the language from firemen to firefighter honors who we want to come in and also the people doing the job now who have been doing the job because it is been quite a while that it has not just been been doing this job. >> words matter. they can hurt or heal. our goal is to be on clues of. i'm excited to get -- is to be all inclusive. i'm excited. gloria: oakland -- be conducted in a way that uses gender inclusive language, accounting for all gender identities, does not assume a specific gender. that would include when it comes to laws and communications. if the city approves the amendment the city charter would change accordingly. there does not seem to be too

the glenn county sheriff's office posted this photo saying crews are responding to a fire at the chemical plant on colonel island. one-mile evacuation zone has been ordered and a three mile radius has been enacted. no word on any possible injuries. the fire has been contained, it is still a huge fire. reggie: we are hearing from dianne feinstein on the attack on paul pelosi. she released a statement saying all lawmakers should condemn it. she said she is deeply disappointed from the disinformation from prominent people and the others of the aisle about the brutal attack. the senator also said leaders on the other cited the aisle have a responsibility to denounce the paul pelosi was released from the hospital thursday and his wife says he is under doctor's care. the suspected attacker has his next court hearing scheduled for december 14. kumasi: tributes are pouring in

for singer aaron carter found dead in his los angeles home over the weekend. last night the backstreet boys honored him during their show in london. he is a brother of backstreet boys member nick carter. >> we love you, nick. >> i want to thank you for all of the well wishes and all of your support. kumasi: aaron carter was a popular child singer in the late 1990's. as an adult he struggled with mental health and substance abuse. a medical examiner will determine the cause of death. he was 34 years old. famed duran duran guitarist says he has stage four prostate cancer. the band shared the news saturday when they were inducted into the rock 'n' roll hall of fame. taylor cannot be there because of his health but he wrote a letter thanking his bandmates and his family. the cancer is not immediately

the sharks hosted a star-studded scrimmage with special olympics of northern california. players and the head coach participated in a friendly game of hockey, even including san jose sharks podcasters, the mascot come in more. the foundation donated $10,000 for the special olympics program. reggie: santana row in san jose is celebrating its 20th in a bursary. it is hosting an event where you can taste local cocktails and eateries. it runs from 4:00 to 8:00 tonight. the proceeds will be donated to the harvest of silicon valley. if you want to see the last total lunar eclipse of the year, or the blood moon, you will have to get up really early. the eclipse will be at its peak just before 3:00. the science center in oakland is hosting a viewing party. astronomers will be on hand to answer questions and talk about the moon.
