the company. musk demanded employees return to the office all time or they will be let go. we will have more on that meeting coming up in the next half-hour. the country is still waiting for final results from tuesday's election to find out what will happen with the balance of power in congress. some of these races are way too close to call. jobina: with the george it -- georgia senate race set for a runoff, all eyes are on arizona and nevada. arizona released new results slightly boosting democrats. they have hundreds of thousands of ballots to process. -- is hopeful to keep her seat. her opponent is upbeat. >> we are confident the numbers are there. we are going to win this race. >> we know this will take time. we will not have more election results for several days. jobina: on capitol hill, senate republican leader mitch mcconnell says he is waiting

final results. kevin mccarthy believes republicans are headed for a majority. out of the 218 seats needed for control of the house, 211 are already called for republicans president biden is not ruling out the possibility of democrats holding the house. reggie: it is going to be several days before a winner is declared in the race for oakland mayor. the next update will not come until monday night. after nine rounds of counting, loren taylor is still in the lead with more than 22,000 votes. zhang tao isn't second with over 19,000. one reason there is await is there are a lot of ballots that need to be counted. many of them came in at the last moment, the county plans on counting them over the weekend. >> those ones that were dropped off close to election day haven't been counted yet. those are what we are starting to process right now. reggie: lauren taylor released a statement last night saying he

is confident but not ready to declare victory. we have not heard from zhang tao. you can check the results as they come in, you can find every race and measure on abc7news.com/election. kumasi: part of our work in building a better bay area is making it easier to get around. bart is looking to expand its services by 2030. more about this plan. reporter: hi, good morning. bart has come up with two new ideas to help increase ridership. the first is going to benefit you if you ride through stations like this one in walnut creek by adding more direct, east bay connections running every day of the week until 9:00 at night. the second idea is going to expand evening service in the core of its system, creating more trance -- bay trips.

in order to do that, they would look at adding a portion of the red line from richmond to daly city that would continue past 9:00 at night and at a portion of the greenline from mayfair to daly city. this comes as bart is working to recover ridership following the pandemic. as of last month, ridership is up 40% to pre-covid expectations. they say whether those proposed changes will happen is going to depend largely on if the public shows enough interest. >> a key part of getting that funding is having a clear roadmap and knowing what our riders want us to do. this is an important step in this process. we talked to lawmakers. this is something they want to know, there riders are on board with this. reporter: that is why bart is now asking everyone to fill out their survey called bart metro 2030 and beyond. they ask if people would take bart more if they were to add a sixth line and a train passed

they cannot remain at the company. end of story. during a staff meeting, he tells employees to file for bankruptcy is a possibility. this, two weeks after he bought twitter for $44 billion. abc news -- abc 7 news obtained audio from a lawyer representing former twitter employees. >> i can tell you, philosophically what works based on tesla is people being in the office and being hard-core. people can get a tremendous amount of work done in that situation. reporter: one of the employees pressed musk on the issue. he made it clear if you do not come back when you cam, you will not have a job. >> the offices are separate offices. reporter: you can still maximize the activity. >> tesla is not one place,

either. you know, basically, if you can show up in the office and you do not show up at the office, resignation accepted. end of story. reporter: the lawsuit is accusing twitter of violating state and federal laws i not giving employees proper notice before firing them. twitter has not spawned it to the lawsuit. musk saying he is not asking employees to work a crazy amount of hours, saying he will work crazy hours in the office but says it his -- is his philosophy when people work in person because the communication is better. top twitter executives leaving the company include the chief information security officer and head of trust and safety. kumasi: santa clara county election officials are hoping to process the majority of ballots within the next week. this coming as the races for mayor of san jose and sheriff of santa clara county are still undecided for the santa clara county sheriffs race, bob johnson ahead 51%.

for the san jose mayoral race, matt may hand ahead with 51%. matt may hand and bob johnson took early leads in their races touted as many as outsider candidates. in an interview yesterday, may hand believes interviewers are looking for someone who has a new look at old problems in the southbay. >> i think they want to hear us acknowledge on homelessness, crime and affordable housing we are having in the wrong direction and while we do not have total control over everything that happens in society, we need public policy to make things better. kumasi: chavez was not able to speak with us yesterday, but told us last week there is no insider or outsider. they have both worked in leadership roles. she recognizes voters want change and said she wants it, as well. reggie: an effort to improve ridership on bart. big changes could be coming soon.

nicole made landfall in florida as a category one hurricane yesterday morning. it is the same area slammed by hurricane ian makes weeks ago. beaches have been washed away and authorities say 49 beachfront buildings are deemed unsafe. some have already been destroyed and others are at risk of collapsing. >> this was a tranquil place to watch the beach until hurricane nicole snatched the beach away. now, this entire house is sitting on exposed pilings. overhear, this is the back of a house's garage. the only thing left is the garage door. the floor and everything else washed away. jobina: the daytona beach area is one of the hardest hit. many people who left before the storm are learning they do not have homes to return to. reggie: a live look at sfo this morning, the first large airport in north america to earn a high level carbon accreditation award. sfo on track to its goal of zero
