this strike is just hours away. some students have been showing solidarity with academic workers. the university says the strike will not impose any big disruptions on campus life starting tomorrow. but some students say their classes have already been canceled. >> i will be on the picket line first thing tomorrow. >> she says banners are being painted and tickets are being ready for a strike on monday. >> i have never felt solidarity like this in my life. >> 48,000 academic workers from researchers to teaching assistants are planning a strike at the 10 campuses after contract talks failed to reach an agreement of the past year. union members represented by uaw say wages are a key part of the strike. >> people are starting to make ends meet. this implies they will not be

able to focus on delivering good education for students. >> university officials say uc continues to negotiate in good faith with the union. uc berkeley says they are preparing for a strike but they expect few disruptions. they dissipate classes will remain as scheduled. offices will remain open and campus will have equivalent services. many students take classes have already been canceled or rescheduled. >> i do not know what to expect. >> pretty much all of my discussion sections led by graduate student instructors are getting canceled for the week because they are going on strike. >> with final exams just weeks away, there is concern. >> if it lasts for a while, to be very disruptive. >> i do expect it will disrupt university activities. that is part of the goal of the strike. >> a union rally is planned for tomorrow.

the union says it is unclear how long the strike will last. a bargaining session has been happening down at uc irvine. but so far, no agreement. >> we will continue following this toy tomorrow and in the coming days. thank you. hundreds of workers at an ice cream outlet in san leandro plan to strike monday over a recent contract offer. factory workers are demanding a wage increase to keep up with inflation and the cost of living. up to 500 employees have been working without a contract for several months. workers say the chocolate company and baker's union except employees to accept the latest offer, but workers are prepared to turn it down immediately. it is unclear if the strike will impact production. a man says he was shot while driving on an interstate in richmond. it happened just before 1:00 this morning. the driver went to a nearby home and asked for help.

he said the shooting happened on the freeway. the man was taken by chp helicopter to a local trauma center. investigators say there is no motive for the shooting. police in the south bay moved in on a huge sideshow and gave out hundreds of citations. the stunned stroop spectators to several areas. another sideshow was on monterey highway. witnesses say san jose police officers were able to boxing hundreds of drivers. someone reported that they were carjacked at gunpoint. police say they issued 700 citations and detained 500 people. they also recovered a ghost gun. police were at the scene of a jewelry store in san pablo after it was robbed in broad daylight saturday afternoon. multiple armed suspects wearing masks entered the jewelry.

they took hundreds of thousands worth of items. a description of the suspects has not been released. no one was injured during the robbery. we were on the scene of a train to in emeryville this morning. it all happened in the amtrak station. union pacific locomotives were at the scene of the incident, clearing cars. a train was blocking in intersection four hours. it is unclear how the durham it occurred or if there are any injuries. happening today, long-awaited san francisco central subway is up and running. testing on the system again today and will run through thursday. they say you will see out of service trains running. what they are doing is a run-through of a service plan infrastructure to make sure everything is working properly. the 1.6 billion dollar project stretches 1.7 miles and will
