name of almighty cries and all the people said together amen. >> amen. >> they came together at the jones united methodist church on post street where reverend brown is the pastor. developing news, a strike is looming statewide tonight as nearly 50,000 university of california academic workers are set to walk off the job tomorrow. cornell bernard live for us at u.c. berkeley to explain how a strike could shut down some classes and labs only weeks ahead of final exams. >> yeah, this strike just hours away and many students here in the plaza showing solidarity with academic workers today. the university said it does not expect a big disruption but some students tell us some of their classes have already been canceled. >> post dock translate scholar margo says banners are being painted and pickett signs are

ready for a strike on monday. 48,000 university of california academic workers are planning to strike at u.c.'s 10 campuses after contract talks failed to reach an agreement over the past year. union me, represented by the united audience workers say wages are a key part of the dispute. some university employees make less than -- 24,000 a year. >> if people are struggling to make ends meet and struggling to finds housing this implies they won't be able to forecasts on delivering good education for our students. >> on itself website, it says u.c. continues to work in good faith with the union to find issues. u.c. berkeley says they're preparing far strike but expects few disruptionings, saying the cap pus expects that classes will go on as scheduled. but students say many classes have already been canceled or

rescheduled. >> i don't know what to expect. half of them said we don't know if we're going to have classes tomorrow. >> pretty much all of my classes led by the graduate student instructors are canceled because they're going on strike. >> if it lasts for a while it could be very disruptive. >> i do expect that us going on strike is going to disrupt university activities. that is part of the goal of the strike. >> it's unclear how long this strike will last. union officials say a bargaining session has been happening this weekend at u.c. irvinyl but so far no degree. has been -- agreement has been reached. >> appreciate that report. hundreds of workers at gary delly's chocolate and ice cream outlet plan to strike to get an increase to keep up with inflation and the cost of

living. workers say the chocolate company and baker's union expect employees to accept the latest offer but workers are prepared to turn it down immediately. it's unclear if the looming strike will impact production. in the east bay a man says he was shot while driving on i-580 in richmond. '9" happened just before 1:00 this morning near central avenue. that driver went to a nearby home and asked for hipp. he was taken by c.h.p. helicopter to a local trauma center. there is currently no motive for the shooting. to the south bey where police moved in on a large side show and issued hundreds of citations. >> tires screeching] >> the opportunities drew spectators to several areas, including the intersection of south 7th and east virginia

street. witnesses same san jose police officers were able to box in hundreds of drivers. someone else even reported that they were carjacked at gun point. police issued 700 citations and detained 500 people and also recovered a ghost gun. police were at the scene of a jewelry store in san pablo after it was robbed in broad daylight saturday afternoon. armed suspects wearing masks entered the h.b. jewelry taking hundreds of thousands worth of items. a description of the suspect hasn't been released, no one was injured. a train derailment this morning happened at the amtrak station on morton street. the onlooker that we spoke with says the train was blocking the crossing at 65th street for hours. it is still unclear how the derailment happened or if there are any injuries. happening today, you may see the

long-awaited san francisco central subway running. testing of the system began today and will run through thursday. they say you'll see out of service trainings rung near fourth and brannon, all part of a plan to make sure everything is working correctly. the $1.6 billion project steps 1.7 miles and will connect san francisco's downtown areas to chinatown through four stations. weekend only service starts next saturday with full services starting on japan. reports tonight that thousands of additional employees who worked for twitter are now off the job. what we are learning about a new wave of layoffs coming just more than a week after the social media scythe slashed it work force by half. also, did the film live up to the fain fare? a look at how the sequel to one of the middle east popular films of all time did this weekend. >> some november warmth is

what it says is the email contract twitter employees were sent yesterday telling them they'd lost their jobs. reporter casey newton from the platformer, a site about social network news said today that twitter eliminated 4,400 out of 5,500 contract employees. earlier this month twitter laid off half its staff in an effort to become profitable. black panther waconda forever, dominated the weekend box office. the marvel movie took in $180 million, the best november opening ever. that superhero film had the major challenge of following black panther without the star chadwick bozeman who passed away in 202020. blacked aman came in second followed by ticket to pair dies.

looking across the chilly bay waters towards the bay ridge. 55 degrees at santa roast rosa. fairfield, and 52 at concord and livermore. looking at the bright embarcadero from our rooftop camera. mostly clear skies overnight. chilly in the valleys, especially in the north bay. we can expect a period of brief warming around middle week. so overnight, this is what we expect, a wave of high clouds will swing through and clear skies. a few more patchy areas of clouds but basically clear skies in the morning and mainly sunny skies throughout the day tomorrow. we still have a beach hazard statement in effect until 10:00 tomorrow morning. under these conditions there's that higher risk of rich current

and sneaker waves. also dangerous swimming and surfing conditions. overnight lows, down to about 33 at santa rosa. lakeport, napa, 36. inland, east bay, down to about 37 at liver moore but most other locationings closer to 40 degrees and around the bay shoreline, lows in the low 40's. there's a frost advisory or will be from 2:00 a.m. too 9:00 a.m. for the northern and interior valleys. there's no will form and could kill sensitive vegetation. 56 tomorrow, half-moon bay. 60 to 2 degrees in most locations around the bay shoreline. as you go farther north, you might see low 60's in places like santa rosa and san rafael. the seven-day forecast. i talked about a midweek warm-up and tuesday through friday, we
