we are learning. lena: right before our show this morning, only about an hour ago, a spokesperson told us that an adult with three kids in the car was heading the wrong way on highway four when they hit an suv with a single driver. all five people dead on scene. here is a look at what things look like earlier today, the crash has since been cleaned up. this is what it looked like a couple hours ago. both cars involved appear to be completely mangled. the wrong way driver was in a white he hyundai, this was originally called and just after midnight as a report of a wrong way driver heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of state route 4, just east of loveridge road. >> arguments arrived on scene and determined a head on collision. right now, we have five victims.

>> their condition? >> they suffered fatal injuries. lena: the names of the victims have not been released yet. circumstances leading up to this horrific crash are still under investigation. all lanes of highway 4 have since been reopened, so this crash should not impact your morning commute. reggie: house speaker nancy pelosi is expected to address her future in politics today. her spokesperson says she is going to give an update, at least to her colleagues. this comes after last month's attack on her husband at her san francisco home. the speaker said the incident is having an impact on her decision. some anticipation may step aside for a new generation of leadership. her office previously stated she intends to still serve in congress, even if it is not in a leadership role. we will have more, coming up.

kumasi: the bay area's biggest city has a new mayor elect. santa clara county supervisor conceded the race with more than 6000 votes separating them. >> she was very gracious, i think her for her years of service. while it was a hard-fought race, the reality is we have to work together. >> voters make choices based on what is best for them and their families. i am going to honor that. kumasi: he will take the place of the current mayor. he became a middle school's in san jose. he is set to serve a two-year term. reggie: the oakland mayor race is razor thin.

san jose 32 in santa clara, so that is cold with 37 on the coast right now. it is 40 in santa cruz yesterday. well into the upper 60s, we had low 70. all thanks to that mixed atmosphere and an offshore flow now we're getting back into an onshore flow late in the day. it is 36 santa rosa 34 in novato as well as the delta. so right here, we are looking at those cool numbers and today the recovery not as robust. we'll be looking at some higher clouds and is temperatures are colder on the coast at 13 degrees colder not as cold in the north bay. so as we look from santa cruz here pretty day with mid 60s on the way chilly to start patchy frost gusty winds return tomorrow afternoon. those are offshore winds and then rain chances still looking like tuesday and as we look at the cloud cover you can see it's thin we'll be getting some sunshine today and then more sun and a warmer day on tap for tomorrow. here's why the winds are going to be on shore today. look what happens early friday.

already see the brake tapping for people traveling in the westbound direction towards the peninsula so it is going to get a little crowded there and it is already crowded at the bay bridge toll plaza metering lights came on at 6:03. traffic is backed up to the 880 over crossing right now once you make it through those metering lights your space will be roughly at the limit as you make your way into san francisco. this is such a different commute when we look at our drive times here because yesterday concord commute was over an hour. it was almost at an and a half due to a crash that is not the case today. you're looking at a smooth 31 minute ride. so just minor slow downs in that area and even for our super commuters tracy the dublin we're resting at around 57 minutes, san rafael to san francisco is 16 our second round here of drive times antioch to hercules 44 minutes for your ride highway 4 to the maze will be 27 minutes and highway 85 too the san jose airport is still on time, but the nine minute ride kumasi they shabina a new pilot program launching in san francisco will guarantee income for dozens of

transgender people for a year and a half abc 7 news reporter. tim. johns explores the first of its kind initiative for community that is often times left behind. for some of the most forgotten people in our community a lifeline could soon be coming from the city of san francisco on wednesday. the mayor's office announced a new effort to combat poverty among transgender residents. this is the first guaranteed income program. for trans people in the country. the initiative is called gifts and will give 55 people 1200 hours a month for 18 months. the program has been years in the making and as a partnership between local government lion martin community health services. and the transgender district but activists. hope the gift program is only the first step in helping a community in need statistics show that trans people suffer disproportionately from things like poverty discrimination and abuse the us transgender survey, which is the only large-scale study of trans people in the united states and 2015 found

that to be percent of trans people in california were living in poverty in order to qualify individuals can be making no more than $600 a month applications for those potentially eligible are open through december 15th with priority given to trans people of color a focus. that's welcomes by a trans activists in san francisco native, honey. mahogany. i think that when we left those people up the people who are you know at the bottom of the totem pole than everyone benefits. mahogany says the city has long been a place of refuge for transgender people. she fears that as a wave of anti-trans legislation sweeps parts of the country programs, like these will become even more critical for people who simply have nowhere else to go. it's really really important that we figure out ways to welcome those folks who are coming here who have nowhere else to go and be able to help stabilize them and make sure that they don't end up on the streets in san francisco tim johns abc 7 news. this is transgender awareness week. so if you or someone you know is
