atmosphere, we are warmer. anywhere from novato down to livermore and mountain view eight to five degrees warmer. santa rosa is cooler. the winds are gusting over 20 miles per hour in the north bay. that is a dry atmosphere. it is clear, 50's, 60's today. high clouds through the afternoon. liz: we begin with the election. it has been 11 days since election day. the race for the mayor of oakland is still too close to call. chantel has been closing the gap and has now taken the lead for the first time. it is now by the slimmest of margins, just over 700 rate choice votes. it is the right choice system -- ranked choice system that will

"we have been humbled to watch the results with each passing day. we have taken the lead with very few votes left to count. we are optimistic our lead will hold and change how will be the next mayor of oakland. " pamela price is declaring a win over prosecutor taylor wiley. wiley conceded the race last night. the race is making history with price becoming the first black alameda county d.a.. she released this statement, the key numbers are the confirmation of our victory. we knew this election would be an exclamation point in history for alameda county. new developments in the race in santa clara county. the race for sheriff, the lead for robert jensen getting bigger. johnson's lead is 6900 votes

over jensen. in a statement obtained by our partner, i am humbled and grateful for all of our supporters. we provided voters with strong choices. i am proud of the campaign as we stay focused on the most pressing issues. i am ready to step up and lead the department. jensen has not yet conceded. he has said i will still be fighting for the agency and community against mismanagement like i have been for the last 12 years. disgraced theranos founder elizabeth holmes has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for defrauding investors. it was despite personal letters sent to the judge in support of holmes. amanda has more on what is next for holmes.

it has been six weeks since the shooting. david zacharia was a carpenter. he had been hospitalized since the day of the shooting. he died thursday. students and staff remember david as a valued employee. the superintendent said david installed the schools pa system. >> he was a friendly, kind, respectful, gentle human being who lent a hand. liz: david told a coworker he was looking forward to retiring. the shooting is under investigation. police have not made any arrests. the contra costa county coroner's office has released the identity of five people involved in a wrong way crash on highway four in pittsburgh. this is the scene of that crash early thursday. the victims are tr tucker,

calliope johnson, mariah, and lis andriy good. all five died on impact. it is unclear why tucker was driving in the wrong direction. san francisco is taking part in a global rally for the liberation of iran. protesters have taken to the streets every day in iran since september. an estimated 344 protesters have been killed and more than 10,000 have been jailed without legal representation. today's demonstration starts at 1:00. the event will be held in new york, paris, berlin, and tokyo. let's get a look outside. lisa: we have a wide range of temperatures. freezing in santa rosa, 50 in

captured this footrace where sfpd officers arrested two men and a juvenile in connection to a string of auto burglaries. sfpd received at least six calls on november 11 alerting them to the same getaway vehicle. for september, auto burglaries are up 12% in san francisco. the crime and safety tracker shows overall burglaries are down 9% in the last 12 months compared to the annual average for the last three years. the tool allows users to track crimes such as assaults, homicides, and theft broken down by a neighborhood across oakland and san jose as well. it is up by 21 incidents in the past 12 months compared to the yearly average. in san jose that number is down. the tracker goes one step beyond

officials say they have finished the year with a balanced budget. part made less than anticipated by daily fares but balanced out by 49 million dollars from sales taxes. due to the unfilled staffing positions, the agency spent $61 million less than expected. today in san francisco, the central subway is finally opening for services. it has been four years since this project was supposed to be finished. the central subway cost nearly $2 billion. the first train roles at eight this morning with free rides this morning. there will be a parade through chinatown. today in the south bay, it is opening day for the low hot downtown skate roller rink
