announcer: this is abc7news. >> the suspect now in custody was identified a short time ago. we are learning more details about the chilling moments that he walked into the club. thank you for joining us. i am liz kreutz. we are learning more out of colorado. a 22-year-old man is in custody in connection to the shooting. law enforcement says he was previously arrested in 2021 for a bomb threat incident. the shooting a gay nightclub

that was hosting a drag show last night. they were getting ready to host a drag brunch event today in celebration. please describe what happened when officers arrived to the club. >> the suspect entered the club and immediately began shooting at people inside. while the suspect was inside the club, at least two heroic people inside the club confronted and fought with the suspect. they were able to stop him from continuing to kill and harm others. liz: they say he used a long gun rifle and was detained within minutes of the shooting. a motive has not yet been determined, but the club described the shooting as a hate attack and says they were devastated by this senseless attack on our community.
