good evening and thank you for joining us. investigators have identified the suspected gunman as anderson aldrich. police say the first 911 call came at 11:50 six last night. officers arrived on the scene for minutes later and detained the suspect. authorities say they found two firearms and arrival at the scene. quick these two firearms were found at the scene. we are working to identify the firearms and who they belong to but i can confirm the suspect used a long rifle during the shooting. >> this is the only lgbtqia plus place in colorado springs. where are we supposed to go? how are we supposed to feel safe when it just got shot up? quick some are being held as heroes for help and save lives. >> we know that one or more patient -- patrons have broglie

intervened to subdue the suspect. you those individuals who do so because their actions clearly saved lives. quick the shooting is being investigated as a hate crime. the shooting in colorado springs has shaken san francisco's castro district. they are mourning the loss of lives and they are sending an outpouring of support tonight. the blood gathering at harvey milk plaza and that is where we find cornell barnard joining us live tonight. >> this vigil getting underway at 6:00 p.m. tonight. i have to tell you, many heavy heart tear in solidarity with the colorado springs of the b to q community. many advocates here in san francisco believe the shooting have been fueled by anti-gay rhetoric nationwide. >> alize, my heart goes out to the victims that died, who were injured, their friends, families, the entire colorado springs community, just a horrific tragedy.

at the intersection of harrison and pearl street. both of the women eventually got into the gray older model honda sedan. investigators believed it was a case of the mystic violence. police are asking the public for help in locating that car and those who were seen driving off in it. today marks 53 years since native americans would take over and occupy alcatraz island in the san francisco bay. it all started in 1969 when a fire destroyed the american indian center. native american activists set their site on the rock to reclaim it as tribal land. shortly after the prison charted its doors. the tribe of nations took over the land for 19 months in the hopes of developing a cultural center and school. that occupation gained national attention. in 1970, the u.s. government passed several laws supporting tribal rule and returned millions of acres of land to make -- to native american tribes. if you like to look more into

seeking answers tonight after a 14-year-old was hit and killed during a christmas parade in raleigh. they were carrying members of a dance group. witnesses say the driver was yelling out his window that he lost control and could not stop the vehicle. >> you can tell it was not gas, it was rolling down the street. they were freaking out and yelling at people to get out of the way. you could tell they were panicking. quick the 20-year-old driver was arrested. the charges include misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, careless and reckless driving and carrying a firearm at the parade. the remainder of that parade was canceled. starting this week, changes are coming to the presidio in san francisco, encouraging more people to get outside. new pavement markings and signage will be added through the slow streets program which was implement during the pandemic. the changes came to those walking around on bikes and
