investigators have identified the suspected gunman as anderson aldrich. the first 911 will call came in at 1157 last night. officers arrived on scene and detained the suspect. authorities said they found two firearms and rifle at the scene. >> these two firearms were found at the scene. we are working to identify firearms and who they belong to but i can't confirm that the suspect used along rifle during the shooting. >> this is the only other pdq ia plus place in the entire city of colorado springs. where are we supposed to go? how are we supposed to feel safe in our environment when it just got shot up? >> some are being held as heroes for confronting the suspect and helping save lives. >> we know one or more patrons aerobically intervened to subdue the suspect.

since native americans would take over and occupy alcatraz island in the san francisco bay. it all started in 1969 when a fire destroyed the american indian center. native american activists set their sights on the rock to reclaim it as tribal land. shortly after the prison charted its doors. they took over the land for 19 months in hopes of developing a cultural center and school. that occupation gained national attention. in 1970, the u.s. government passed several supporting tribal rule and returned millions of acres of land to native american tribes. if you would like to look more into the story, you can watch her award-winning documentary, escaped alcatraz on our abc 7 streaming up or at our website. some community advocacy groups are celebrating the new -- newly elected district attorney pamela price as example of change.
