liz: today is black friday which means shoppers will be out for good deals. one store that is already opened is bass pro shop in san jose. that is where we find gloria rodriguez this morning. gloria, you are out bright and early. were still dark out there. gloria: yes. the store -- they just opened the store. people are coming in right now and many people were waiting for sometime. i talked to one man who was first in line, he said he was out there since 8:00 last night. he was hoping to get a gift card that they were giving some shoppers waiting outside. they had coffee and donuts for those out there before they came in the shop. retaer a offering discounts and hoping to correct overstock

inventory from supply delays. holiday shopping sales are protected -- are projected to grow over 8% since last year. families are tightening their belts. profession as santa clara university says inflation will reduce that number and it will still be inactive shopping season but people will be buying cheaper items for holiday gifts. >> anything discretionary, big-ticket items that are not necessary, they're not going to buy. these are items people will be cautious about buying. gloria: he says those items include furniture or other large in-home items bought during the pandemic. some of the salespeople are looking for our $10 of flannels, $10 hoodies, and of course everybody is coming in for

certain things. outside they were giving out these cards and that allows shoppers to get a gift card. not that people have been coming for those gift cards. we will see what people are looking for in terms of shopping and we will be here all morning long. liz: we are surprised to see how many people are up and out. it is crowded in there. gloria: person who was first in line said he was in his car most of the life -- stuff the night. he said he wanted to get away from his family so he just hung out. you can see quite a few deals, those hoodies are $15 each. a lot of people have been going there. hoodies, flannels, sporting goods. people are just excited to be out shopping after the big thanksgiving meal yesterday. terrell: if you want to get away from your family, you can go to therapy or you can go to the store. one is cheaper than the other.

something wasn't right even before they drove by this accident. they only saw firetrucks whizzing by them and feared there was a fire. >> i thought if there is a fire, there is no way out. that was it. that is why i was afraid. i was spring-like crazy to get out of there. reporter: seven cars were involved in the accident and there were 16 occupants within those cars, eight adults and eight kids. two of the 16 were transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. when the family did get to the tunnel, they were amazed at the site. >> we could see a car sitting on top of a car. >> we saw probably seven cars. three or four that were piled at the end and that the other cars that had front and back damage that got pushed. >> it was a lot. reporter: as to what led to the accident, chp says it is under
