want to give anything away but we have been watching that closely, and we'll get to that later on. before you settle down to watch the game you may be crossing some of those holiday items off your list this year. there is a live look right there. that's inside a target where it's already jumping this morning. we'll hear from the ceo of best buy joining us live on the hottest electronics this year and what they're doing to help keep prices down. a lot to get to, but first, the holiday weekend travel picture now complicated by storms moving east. abc transportation correspondent gio benitez is here with more. gio, good friday morning. >> reporter: hey, janai, good morning. air travel has been incredibly smooth this week but that may be about to change as severe weather moves across the country. millions will be hitting the roads and skies this weekend heading back home. every airline, though, tells us sunday will be the busiest day of the year so far and that's because so many people who traveled over the past few days will all be going home on the same day. can you imagine that? so here's what to watch out for. snow today across texas, with winter storm warnings into new mexico and a flood watch for the

houston area as heavy rain is expected through tonight. tomorrow, that storm moves through the south, passing through the midwest in the evening and overnight hours, and then that big day, sunday, that rain will reach the mid-atlantic and northeast just in time for that major travel day. so, if you are traveling on sunday, have that airline app already downloaded on your phone. use that first to make any changes. it really is the fastest way, janai. >> a little travel, a little bit of weather, gio, you do it all. thank you. whit, over to you. to black friday now, holiday shoppers hoping for a chance at the biggest sales of the year. abc's elwyn lopez is live inside a target store right there in atlanta. elwyn, good morning to you. >> reporter: hey, whit, good morning. it's once again that time of year, holiday shopping kicking off and that mad dash for deals is back on and people are lining up in lower numbers this year. according to adobe, americans have already spent more than $64.5 billion online this month

with discounts rolling out for weeks now, that's because stores are dealing with a surplus of inventory following the supply chain issues. even with early deals, black friday is not one to miss. take a look at this. target offering steep discounts on toys, up to 40% off lego and for major toy brands like barbie, you can buy one and get one half off. now, if you're in the market for household items like me, macy's is slashing the price of this black & decker air fryer toaster oven from 167 to 83 bucks and samsung has this top of the line smart tv for $700 off and, guys, if you still want to score the best deals but you want to avoid the crowds, big box retailers like target offering curbside pickup and even same day delivery. whit. >> important tip there. elwyn, what deals should shoppers be on the lookout for as they fill their carts today? >> reporter: you might want to be holiday shopping but experts say that right now is a good time to stock up on everyday items. they say now you're seeing steeper discounts than usual,

today on what is one of the busiest shopping days of the year, black friday. you can expect to see protests here in the u.s. to india, japan and france. this is the third year that make amazon pay has organized a global day of action on black friday. just last year workers walked off the job and rallied in the u.s. from coast to coast, even demonstrating outside of jeff bezos' manhattan penthouse. we reached out to amazon but haven't heard back, but a company spokesperson told "fortune" it is working to address some of those issues. meanwhile, it's unclear how this will affect your holiday orders. black friday, big shopping day. >> thank you. we're learning new details about that mass shooting at a walmart in virginia. one survivor who had only been working there for five days is telling her harrowing story and abc's jay o'brien has the latest for us. jay, good morning. >> reporter: whit, good morning. that survivor's account taking us inside the walmart break room as shots rang out two days before thanksgiving. she tells me she believes this

attack was targeted. this morning, chilling new details emerging from inside the break room at a virginia walmart where a gunman, a store manager, opened fire killing six people and injuring seven others. >> he had the gun pointed at me. when he went like this, he put the gun up and then he just looked at me and said, jessie, go home. >> reporter: survivor jessie wilczewski said the shooter fired into the room and then returned shooting again. she says she believes she was spared because she was new. >> why do you think he told you to leave? >> i don't know. i don't know. i had only been there five days. >> reporter: the city of chesapeake identifying the six killed as lorenzo gamble, brian pendleton, kellie pyle, randall blevins, tyneka johnson and a 16-year-old male whose identity

is being withheld because he's a minor. briana tyler thought it was a drill. >> he didn't point. he literally just put the gun up and just started shooting aimlessly at anything and everything that was moving in the room. >> reporter: this new video, filmed years ago by a co-worker, showing the suspect andre bing working in the store. fellow walmart employees described him as a loner who sometimes clashed with colleagues but say they never expected him to be violent. the 31-year-old died at the scene of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. the gunman's motive still remains a mystery, right now th sem s home and collected at that walmart trying to determine what led to this. whit. >> still so much to learn. thank you. now to president biden's remarks on gun control following the mass shootings of the past seven days. abc's maryalice parks is in nantucket where the president is spending the holiday. maryalice, good morning to you. >> reporter: whit, good morning.

the president over the holiday spoke briefly to reporters about these two devastating mass shootings in colorado and virginia. he said he wants to see red flag laws used more and better enforced. if a judge agrees a family member or law enforcement can move to remove any weapons from a person who might be seen as a danger. and the president again called for a ban on assault weapons. he said, quote, the idea we still allow semiautomatic weapons to be purchased is sick, just sick. it has no social redeeming values. zero, none. president biden is passionate about this. he said he's going to continue to try to get votes for this in congress but, of course, passing any ban like this would be an incredible uphill battle. the reality is he couldn't get this done when democrats had control of both chambers and, of course, next year republicans will control the house and the white house also yesterday told us that the president took time to call the owners of club q,

the site of that shooting in colorado springs to offer his support and condolences. whit. >> all right, maryalice, thank you. well, now, to the new twist in the case of the south carolina attorney accused of killing his wife and son. lawyers for alex murdaugh building their case focusing on a key piece of evidence at the center of the state's case. this morning, the legal team for once prominent south carolina lawyer alex murdaugh accusing investigators of manipulating and destroying evidence. >> all rise. >> reporter: authorities say murdaugh killed his wife maggie and son paul at the family's home in june of last year. at the center of it a blood spattered t-shirt that authorities say puts murdaugh at the scene of the crime when it happened but murdaugh's team questioning that evidence in a filing this week. >> a big part of the prosecution's case is that he fired a weapon killing his wife and his son and that with the firing of that weapon that the blood from the two deceased actually splattered on his shirt.

>> reporter: murdaugh's team showcasing photos showing what they say is a chemal dag cut up and stained shirt writing state investigators elected to conduct its tests in a manner that would prevent anyone else from conducting subsequent tests going on to claim the state's own expert didn't initially find spatter but instead changed his findings after pressure from investigators writing, the state needs blood spatter evidence because it is exceedingly difficult to explain how mr. murdaugh could have murdered paul with multiple 12-gauge shotgun blasts at point blank range in a small closet without getting at least some blood spattered on his shirt. murdaugh's team now asking for the communications between the state and that expert. >> i think the judge will want solid and logical answers from the prosecutors before they allow their expert to give testimony. >> both sides are expected back in court in december on the docket to go to trial in late

[ crowd chanting ] now the u.s. and england have played twice in the world cup before and we ave never lost. drew 1-1 in 2010. the americans beating england back in 1950 so this year why not us? >> why not us, tensions not quite as high as the 1770s. we like that.

but okay, so, two other teams in the u.s.' group playing today, iran and wales. we know from whit here that iran scored twice in stoppage time. i'm learning all these terms. what does that mean for team usa? >> reporter: the 2-0 win for iran is a big deal because that means wales can't really advance ahead of the americans. england controls their destiny. all we need to do is get a result, a win or draw against england and beat iran and we're through. it gets complicated but, look, all we need to do is bring the national pride here. i think we're doing a good job. our thanks to the american outlaws coming out here in doha. they'll be out in full force tonight. we're following right now and millions of americans getting ready to head home after thanksgiving, they're bracing for weather delays. two storm systems are following each other across the country bringing heavy rain from the midwest to the northeast just in time for that busy travel home. the black friday rush is also under way. prices have been dropping for weeks now. to help retailers clear out excess inventory and ring up sales but there are still huge deals including record discounts for toys according to adobe analytics. we'll have much more on some of the best deals out there coming up. take a look at this dramatic rescue. two police officers in aurora, illinois, racing to save a 9-year-old boy who fell through the ice on a pond trying to get his football. two officers swam to save the boy and a woman also went in safely bringing everyone back to land. fortunately there were only minor injuries and the boy apparently now has a new football at the end of all this. also, a man aboard a carnival cruise ship was rescued

now to a man who barely survived a motorcycle accident only to wake up thinking it was 1993. it's a story we first saw in "people's" real-life digital series and the love of his life helped him recover and it only made their bond stronger. kristy and andrew are living a love story married 37 years and they cherished time with the family and traveling on the open road. >> on that motorcycle, it just -- it feels so free and i'm holding on to the love of my life. >> reporter: for 58-year-old andrew all those memories came to a screeching halt after a near-fatal motorcycle accident last june. after t-boning a car that ran a red light witnesses say kristy and andrew were hurled 50 feet across the pavement. >> all i truly wanted to now was he okay and where my husband was. >> reporter: andrew, unconscious, is airlifted to the hospital for emergency surgery. their injuries are extensive. broken bones, internal bleeding, punctured lungs and concussions and when andrew wakes up three days later the nightmare isn't

over, 29 years of his life have disappeared into thin air. >> he thought it was 1993. >> he doesn't even recognize his own daughters. >> you just immediately, where's my wife? where's my wife? and i think he thought i was working at the hospital >> we could tell him over and over a few things and then an hour later it was like repeating everything. >> reporter: doctors couldn't tell the family whether andrew's memory would return but just 24 hours after kristy convinced the staff to put them in the same room -- >> one of my first things i remember is kristy in the wheelchair trying to worry about me taking care of myself. >> he started coming around asking me things and i was like amazed. there was happy tears and within 24 hours he was a new person. >> reporter: after 11 days in the hospital and extensive rehab the couple could walk again and in august took a family beach
