notice a cold front -- mild and sunny afternoon. notice a cold front working into the bay area. we will be chilly with upper 30's santa clara. 38 santa teresa. upper 30's santa rosa. we are two to four degrees milder to start, but by the afternoon, temperatures more in line with what we should see this time of year. we will see mid-60's for some of you. those numbers will drop quickly as that sunsets right before 5:00. actually, it is after 5:00. we are looking at cool days and chilly afternoons. we will talk details coming up. liz: new this morning, police have arrested a man who investigators say stole that muni bus and attacked the driver. this is from a witness.

police say the suspect boarded the bus with no passengers just before 8:00 last night around cortland and mission streets. after allegedly assaulting the driver, the suspect drove the bus to 19th and guerrero, hitting at least 10 vehicles along the way. officers were able to take the suspect into custody. the bus driver and second driver suffered injuries. today is small business saturday. in the east bay, there is a new initiative to encourage people to shop locally. a new gift card in martinez. >> here is the shadowless mewt ew going for 200. >> games at martinez open three months ago in order to double its size they specialized in boardgames, trading card games. >> if it is a perfect 10, that

means it was perfect out of the factory. >> the store manager says business has been solid. they offer special black friday sales. on friday nights they host a card exchange. they say the card market and collectibles have taken a hit since the pandemic. economic uncertainties are ahead. >> the card market is in a low right now. it is uncertain where it is going to go from here. hopefully the holidays will boost sales. >> the next couple of weeks are pretty critical for you. black friday is followed by small business saturday, designed to promote shopping at small businesses. some area businesses have come up with programs to promote shopping locally, such as the digital gift card. >> i am not a huge shopper. i am learning from my friend. she is the one that gets me out and convinces me to go to all the fun local spots. >> julie jones says she supports

the city's effort to support local businesses. martinez points to studies that local retailers pump 47% of revenue back into the economy compared to 14% by national chains. for mom-and-pop restaurants, it is 73% compared to 30%. >> we love to pump money into local businesses. we shop down here for dinners. it is important to shop where you live so it builds the community. >> carlino martinez ads shoppers can build relationships with local businesses. >> a lot of these stores, they are not everywhere. the ones that are, you know they will have authentic stuff. it is good to support. >> support local. >> exactly. liz: plenty of people shopped in person yesterday. this is what the parking lots at

chicken if you are willing. the retailer may lower the price throughout the holiday shopping season. this is unusual. it tends to happen when the economy is rough. it happened during the recession over a decade ago. >> while more consumers still prefer to spend in-store on black friday, online deals are growing. >> retailers have made it that way. they want you to be on their websites at all times because you might get a great deal in the middle of the night. it is exhausting. >> in-store or online, this is the best time to snag a bargain on items. >> black friday and cyber monday, the best deals are on stuff like tv's. used to be the best time to buy a tv was in march. retailers have figured out that is what gets you in the door. you are going to want to buy the buy one get one free dvd and then something else.

liz: here is a live look from pier 15. thanks for waking up with us. developing news on the walmart shooting in virginia. the chesapeake city council is inspected to issue an emergency declaration. this comes as investigators revealed new information. christine sloan reports from new york. reporter: the tech to us are searching for a motive in the deadly shooting at a walmart in chesapeake, virginia. police say andrew being -- and raping open fire -- andre bing opened fire on his coworkers. survivors reliving the horrifying moments. >> i can still place bits and pieces. i cannot run away from it. i had to sit on the floor and

watch my coworker have her last moments. reporter: six employees died, lorenzo gamble, tyneka johnson, and a 16-year-old identified as fernando chavez, he had recently received his first paycheck, buying his mother a set of airpods. >> fernando is my friend. he was intelligent, handsome, took all the girls. took honors. reporter: investigators say they found a death note on bing's phone, where he accused collins of making fun of him. bing wrote he was led by satan and asked for forgiveness. the 31-year-old died at the scene of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

liz: two men have then charge for a homicide on thanksgiving day at bay point. investigators found a man shot on more drive. 18-year-old emmanuel morales of antioch has been booked on charges of murder and possession of an assault weapon. victor morales is charged as an accessory. sunday march the 44th anniversary of the assassination of harvey milk and george moscone. the community is gathering at harvey milk plaza for a candlelit vigil in remembrance. in the wake of the colorado springs shooting, this year's commemoration is taking on new meaning. >> this was the scene last sunday in the castro. the community and its allies gathering in the wake of the deadly shooting at a lgbtq+

nightclub in colorado springs. this sunday they will gather on the 44th anniversary of the assassinations of harvey milk and george moscone, both shot by supervisor dan white. >> it was political violence that took away mayor must goni and supervisor milk. it was political violence. what we are seeing is the same thing is happening. reporter: jeffrey quan is the vice president of the harvey milk lgbtq democratic club. the organization condemning marjorie taylor greene's attack on state senator scott wiener this week, falsely calling him a groomer. >> you have these malicious attacks intensifying. it is horrifying. >> it is the rise of homophobia

tourism is picking up in san francisco. security presence is also being increased. the san francisco police department responded to multiple robberies in union square last year. this season, the city increased security and dou to down on -- doubled down on christmas advertisements. >> after a couple years of sluggishness, it is nice to see union square back. reporter: the christmas tree and the winter wanderland are attractions drawing people back to the area. winter wanderland is open daily from noon until 7:00 through december 24. multiple streets were blocked off for the lighting of the old oak tree in danville. the ceremony kicked off with musical selections followed by a tree lighting ceremony from father christmas. the 350-year-old tree sits in

the center of diablo road. this weekend is a popular time for people to create meals with thanksgiving leftovers. yesterday, the downtown streets team in palo alto used extras to serve meals to the homeless at saint's church. volunteers provided sandwiches, salads, pies, and more. >> it is about community. in terms of solving homelessness, it is going to take a community responswe auii. liz: teams 17thinmills. they are located in 16 communities throughout northern and central california. we are waking up fold this morning. lisa: certainly. the weather cooperated. it was mild in the afternoon with sunny skies. temperatures remained above average last week. a couple of cold fronts bring

temperatures down to seasonal levels. we are still looking at a pattern change. things have been not cooperating in that department. look at the green and some of the white. the moisture remaining with this system. nonetheless, the high clouds, mixing in terms of light south wind, have allowed for temperatures to be a little bit milder this morning. as we get into tuesday and wednesday, widespread frost likely in the bay area. some aisfrom the al weather service likely. morning temperatures, 42 napa, 41 fremont, 43 san jose. palo alto checking in at 39. that brings us a couple degrees warmer than 24 hours ago. k from our exploratorium camera. patchy fog and high clouds this morning. looking at the cooling trend

over the weekend and through next week, so that second system comes in to start the work week on monday. that is going to bring us the cold nights and mornings with frost likely. we could see temperatures drop off into the 20's. here is a look at your monday morning. you can see the 30's in our valleys. as we get into tuesday, we are getting below freezing. we are still warmer by the bay. here is a look at wednesday morning where you see the 30's, but you can really count on the protective valleys to be into the 20's. cold mornings, dry mornings. here is a look at the next several days. we are dry. stopping this next thursday, wednesday night into thursday. cold front wants to push into northern california. next thursday and friday, it looks like it could tap into some more moisture, bringing rain and snow. we have to wait and see as this changes.

this is a look at friday where we are still looking at that pattern change. this is where it gets pushed out further and further. as the system gets closer, things don't happen. another mild afternoon with upper 60's in the warmest locations. you should only be about 62 in the south bay. today, sunny skies and 66 in san jose and santa rosa. by the delta in the upper 60's. as we look at the peninsula low 60's. the accuweather 7 day forecast will have near average temperatures tomorrow as we trail off another couple degrees. getting into monday, cooler, highs barely 60 degrees. temperatures drop off overnight with the lighter winds, clear sky, hopefully getting into a level 1 system thursday, friday.

overall not as cold as we have been. two to four degrees milder in the north bay. by 9:00, we are in the low 50's. sunny skies with a few 60's by 11:00. overall temperatures will be a couple degrees cooler. 1:00 mid and upper 60's. by the afternoon it is mild. we will be talking about colder weather. frosty mornings ahead and looking at changes this week or next week. liz: amnesty for suspended accounts. that is what twitter's new owner is promising. it could happen as soon next week. some critics are winning this could lead to more harassment and hate speech. suzanne has the story. report another day, anotceo elod users come back. the billionaire posted a poll on twitter asking users if band accounts should be reinstated.
