some are dry, some are not so dry. i will explain and talk about cold mornings and potential rainfall in midst. liz: new this morning, police have arrested a man who investigators say stole that muni bus and attacked the driver. this is from a witness. police say the suspect boarded the bus with no passengers just before 8:00 last night around cortland and mission streets. after allegedly assaulting the driver, the suspect drove the bus to 19th and guerrero, hitting at least 10 vehicles along the way. officers were able to take the suspect into custody. the bus driver and second driver suffered injuries. today is small business saturday. in the east bay, there is a new initiative to encourage people to shop locally. a new gift card in martinez. >> here is the shadowless mewtew going for 200.

>> games at martinez open three months ago in order to double its size they specialized in boardgames, trading card games. >> if it is a perfect 10, that means it was perfect out of the factory. >> the store manager says business has been solid. they offer special black friday sales. on friday nights they host a card exchange. they say the card market and collectibles have taken a hit since the pandemic. economic uncertainties are ahead. >> the card market is in a low right now. it is uncertain where it is going to go from here. hopefully the holidays will boost sales. >> the next couple of weeks are pretty critical for you. black friday is followed by small business saturday, designed to promote shopping at small businesses. some area businesses have come up with programs to promote

ho! ho! ho! camera. the time is 6:11 a.m.. developing news on the walmart shooting in virginia. the chesapeake city council is inspected to issue an emergency declaration. this comes as investigators revealed new information. christine sloan reports from new york. reporter: the tech to us are searching for a motive in the deadly shooting at a walmart in chesapeake, virginia. police say andrew being -- and raping open fire -- andre bing opened fire on his coworkers. survivors reliving the horrifying moments.

>> i can still place bits and pieces. i cannot run away from it. i had to sit on the floor and watch my coworker have her last moments. reporter: six employees died, lorenzo gamble, tyneka johnson, and a 16-year-old identified as fernando chavez, he had recently received his first paycheck, buying his mother a set of airpods. >> fernando is my friend. he was intelligent, handsome, took all the girls. took honors.

reporter: investigators say they found a death note on bing's phone, where he accused collins of making fun of him. bing wrote he was led by satan and asked for forgiveness. the 31-year-old died at the scene of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. liz: two men have then charge for a homicide on thanksgiving day at bay point. investigators found a man shot on more drive. 18-year-old emmanuel morales of antioch has been booked on charges of murder and possession of an assault weapon. victor morales is charged as an accessory. sunday march the 44th anniversary of the assassination of harvey milk and george moscone.

the community is gathering at harvey milk plaza for a candlelit vigil in remembrance. in the wake of the colorado springs shooting, this year's commemoration is taking on new meaning. >> this was the scene last sunday in the castro. the community and its allies gathering in the wake of the deadly shooting at a lgbtq+ nightclub in colorado springs. this sunday they will gather on the 44th anniversary of the assassinations of harvey milk and george moscone, both shot by supervisor dan white. >> it was political violence that took away mayor must goni and supervisor milk. it was political violence. what we are seeing is the same thing is happening. reporter: jeffrey quan is the vice president of the harvey milk lgbtq democratic club. the organization condemning marjorie taylor greene's attack on state senator scott wiener this week, falsely calling him a groomer.

>> you have these malicious attacks intensifying. it is horrifying. >> it is the rise of homophobia and transphobia and violence against our community, a reminder of what happened in 1978 is not over. reporter: in 2022, 36 states introduced anti-lgbtq+ bills, and those legislative actions are fueling violence against the community. >> a slew of legislation across state legislatures nationwide targeting kids, schools, trans kids. reporter: too many candles lit and lives lost, but this sunday the community will do it again.

winter wanderland is open daily from noon until 7:00 through december 24. multiple streets were blocked off for the lighting of the old oak tree in danville. the ceremony kicked off with musical selections followed by a tree lighting ceremony from father christmas. the 350-year-old tree sits in the center of diablo road. this weekend is a popular time for people to create meals with thanksgiving leftovers. yesterday, the downtown streets team in palo alto used extras to serve meals to the homeless at saint's church. volunteers provided sandwiches, salads, pies, and more. >> it is about community. in terms of solving homelessness, it is going to take a community response. we are building that bridge. liz: this was the downtown teams 17th year serving mills. they are located in 16 communities throughout northern and central california.

it is 40 walnut creek. temperatures are not quite as cold as they could be. we're doubling at 39. 40 in santa rosa. 41 in on view. that brings to 60 grebes milder right now. a gorgeous view from mount tan. sunrise on the way. the sun is setting at 4:52 a.m.. certainly, a shorter day. nine hours and 41 minutes. patchy fog right around the golden gate bridge. looking at those high clouds this morning, with cooling trends getting set for the second system coming in sunday into monday. that is a system bringing an inch of snow in the mountains. it will allow for the overnight lows to drop into the 20's, and come tuesday morning, wednesday morning, possibility of widespread frost advisories. a freeze warning for the protected valleys in the north bay at east bay.

here's a look at what you can expect. more widespread 30's and 40's. tuesday morning, freezing temperatures all throughout the north bay. for most of the east bay, this is where temperatures will be the coldest they could be in quite some time. as we look at the trend, we will find colder weather midweek. much of the state of the weekend with one forecast model painting it wet. we will hopefully see that verified, but for the high today, it is dry. the cold front will allow better mixing, do spare the air today. looking for 66 in san jose as well as in vallejo. average highs in the low 60's it only upper 50's with breezy onshore wind. the seven-day forecast features warmer than average weather today. the warmest day of the week, and high temperatures sliding on sunday. overnight lows will get frosty.

livermore. 24 temperature changes that are mild. we have clouds around, and a bit of a breeze. 9:00 it low 50's for most of us. 11:00 pierce 60. in an upper 60's for our final bay. by 3:00, it is mild. drop quickly with the temperatures, and a couple fronts to talk about. cold temperatures any chance of rain coming up. liz: amnesty for suspended accounts. that is what twitter's new owner is promising. it could happen as soon next week. some critics are winning this could lead to more harassment and hate speech. suzanne has the story. reporter: another day, another twitter headline. ceo elon musk is letting band users come back. the billionaire posted a poll on twitter asking users if band accounts should be reinstated. the yes vote was 72%. in a follow-up post, elon musk tweeted the people have spoken.

amnesty begins next week. musk has reinstated former president trump, kanye west, representative marjorie taylor greene, banned for violating covid policies on the site. michelson says reactivating suspended accounts invites trouble. >> you get things like vaccine deniers. you get the attack on a pizza parlor in d.c. folks thought was a pedophile ring. you get election deniers. you get violence. you get a violent uprising on january 6. reporter: media communication professor nolan says censorship is not the way. >> that was never going to be a possibility.

i have always believed this campaign to remove people from online platforms was never going to get to the root of the problem, which is why do we have hate speech. where does hate originate from? where does this misinformation originate from? how can we better prepare people? reporter: he says the answer is to train people to spot misinformation, not sensor people. >> it is how you can spot misinformation so you don't fall for it and how you can change the culture so hate speech is not so prevalent. that is something we do through constructive dialogue, not engaging in censorship. reporter: suzanne fong, abc 7 news. liz: last month, elon musk tweeted no suspended accounts would be reinstated until twitter formed a moderation counsel. professor higdon said that would be problematic in any panel can be full of biases.
