this is abc7news. >> a big bay area freeze tightening its grip tonight during frosty warnings are winning us this week, and that is not all that is in the forecast. good evening. thank you for joining us. i am dan ashley. the cold temperatures are already moving in. here's a live look across the bay tonight. we are getting ready to dip to near freezing temperatures or below in some spots actually. let's get right to abc7news meteorologists with what is happening now. sandy? >> we are noticing the chill in the air. it is almost december and tomorrow it will feel like it. look at the temperatures, low 40's for the coldest spots like fairfield at this hour, 41 degrees in los altos. as we go hour-by-hour tomorrow morning, 4:00 near freezing and some cities inland. freezing at seven in santa rosa. this is not with the temperatures bottom out. the winds are playing a role, but not nearly as gusty as earlier today.

the speakers took time to remember those affected by rising lgbtq hate. that included state senator scott wiener. >> we have people who are openly threatening lgbtq people, the club q massacre. reporter: as this increases, events like the tree lighting become more important. so that the community remains undeterred and unafraid. >> in san francisco we pulled together and express our values of inclusion and love and just accepting people. reporter: in san francisco, tim johns, abc7news. dan: across the bay in oakland, police chief is extending his departments current crime strategy through -- two years and. they report that homicides and shootings have declined since the new plan was put into place in september. our officers are being reassigned to investigations involving gun violence and the

pickup. while we await a response from cvs, the director of san jose's office of economic development and cultural affairs says in part, we understand that the closure is part of a cds company wide initiative and it was nearing the end of its lease. >> the city is saying that it was the lease. >> there's a lot of homeless people here, just insanely a lot. reporter: nearby business owner points to the neighboring hotel which the city purchased earlier this year to address homeless crisis. >> i spent a lot of time across the street watching on my front window and seeing activity that was over here. reporter: scott with red dog fitness had a front row seat to cvs and frequented the location. he said his cameras have captured varies from no activities that lead to multiple calls to the police. he says those incidents aren't his only cause for concern. >> to take a story like this out
