ama: good evening. dan: breaking news in pleasant hill where at least one person has been shot outside of a pizza restaurant. it happened at the pizza my way, look at the intersection of contra costa boulevard and ellenwood drive. there's a heavy police presence at the scene where tim johns is reporting live tonight. what have you found out so far? reporter: i have to be honest. details are still scarce. as you said, there's a pretty large police presence here this evening. they are trying to piece together exactly what happened. here is what we have confirmed at this hour. there was an incident that happened around 8:15 this evening inside pizza my way

between an employee and someone that the employee knows. that dispute ended with the suspect shooting the employee three times. his condition is not stable at this time. the suspect was also arrested here on scene and taken to a hospital for an unrelated medical issue. at this time, there is no word on what this dispute might've been over. police are still out here actively investigating the scene , trying to get more details for us this evening and we will be out here to bring you the very latest. tim johns, abc7news. ama: on the peninsula, for people hurt and one critically after a bus driver lost control and plowed through parking lot. it happened this afternoon in daly city. more than a dozen cars were damaged, some of them totaled. amanda del castillo you joins us live. it took a while to clear that scene. reporter: the crash happened

just before noon. officials finally clearing the area at around 8:15 tonight, first taking away those damaged vehicles and loading that bus onto a long flatbed. a sheriff's escort as the bus was being removed from the parking lot. >> there was just chaos. it was complete chaos. reporter: 16 vehicles hit by a bus driver in the middle of the day friday, sending for people to the hospital, one critically injured. this happened at a shopping center in daly city. sky 7 captured the path of destruction. the cause is still under investigation. >> it definitely raises a lot of concerns, especially this day and age. you never know with people hijacking public transportation, you hear about it in the community. reporter: she and her mother arrived minutes after the bus driver tore through bushes,

ripped through the lot, crushed a cart and came to a stop. one of the 16 damaged vehicles belong to a san francisco resident. >> i was shopping at target and came out and found my car totaled. maybe like four or five rows over from where i left it parked. reporter: there were multiple passengers on the bus. the agency telling abc7news, it's working with authorities and actively looking for the cause of this incident. >> there's video of the driver. there is video outside. you can't jump to any conclusion. reporter: at least two people remained hospitalized friday night, adding their injuries appear to be non-life-threatening. in the aftermath of the crash, the mayor -- >> we thought it was a regular accident. oh my god. reporter: with the holiday shopping season underway, the

county supervisor says the outcome could have been much worse. as the scene was cleared late friday night, many are left wondering what safety improvements should be made. >> i'm curious as a policymaker, representing this district, what went wrong and how you make sure that it never happens again. reporter: the driver told authorities that the brakes failed. however, the investigation into exactly what cause the driver to lose control is just getting started. abc7news. ama: thank you. dan: let's turn to the weather. today had a winter like feel to it. clear and cold. more rain on the way. ama: let's get to spencer christian. spencer: ok. major weather developments coming our way. let's start with the cold tonight. freeze warning in effect until 9:00 a.m. tomorrow for the interior mountains and valleys of the north bay and much of the

mount hamilton area. low temperatures in the upper 20's. protect plants, pipes, people, pets. rain coming. liberal one store coming in tomorrow. rain and showers. saturday will be wetter than sunday. you can see the forecast here. the first rain coming up from the south tomorrow and that moves to the east. the second wave drops into the break area -- bay area into monday. snow in the sierra. i will show you that in my accuweather 7 day forecast just a little bit later. ama: thank you. here's a look at the conditions in the sierra tonight. currently no chain controls on interstate 80 or highway 50. chains or snow tires are required on parts of highway 89. the national weather service says that heavy snow is expected tomorrow night into sunday

night. you can check the forecast any time access live doppler 7 on-demand through our abc bay area streaming tv app. download now. dan: in the north bay, the roman catholic diocese of santa rosa plans to declare bankruptcy. the diocese says it made this decision due to a growing number of lawsuits. california law from 2019 lifted the statute of limitations on clergy abuse for a three year window, from january 1 of 2020 until the end of this year. jury deliberations meantime have started in the trial of disgraced hollywood producer harvey weinstein. he faced seven charges of rape and sexual assault in california . the trial included weeks of emotional testimony from a number of women including jennifer siebel newsom, the wife of the governor. weinstein convicted on several charges in 2020. he served two years of his 23

year prison sentence. ama: contra costa county prosecutors explaining why the armed gunmen in a deadly robbery and homicide will not face murder charges. that robbery happened at a gas station in antioch last weekend. the store clerk was killed in the hold up. the das office says footage shows the clerk chased after the suspect and fired first. that turn of events takes murder charges off the table. >> when the imminent threat of harm to one's life has dissipated, the victim of a property crime, under the law, cannot then use deadly force to attempt to reclaim that property. ama: gun fire hit one of the suspects, a 19-year-old in the leg. jackson allegedly returned fire which ultimately killed williams. jackson could face up to 15 years behind bars. the second suspect hasn't been

caught. every vote counts and that's very apparent in richmond where the race for city council seat has been declared a tie after a hand recount. it was confirmed that the candidates received the same number of votes, 1921. the winner will be determined by the city clerk drawing a name out of the bag. >> we put our names into a green envelope. it will be sealed and it put into a bag. we will each have an opportunity to shake the band -- bag. >> i was saying, we should race. we should do a quick race. >> a dam soft or rochambeau or something like that. that would go down in the history books. ama: i like the dance off idea. there was a tiant 2018 in the race for director of the irrigation district. that was broken with a roll of the dice. dan: now to developing news in hawaii where lava from the

dan: i bay area ridding new crane -- a bay area nonprofit ridding ukraine of minds. the start of this really massive mission kicked off today with an inspiring event in wine country. reporter: as a battle in ukraine continues, efforts are underway in napa to help rid the embattled country of countless landmines. >> this is an anti-personnel landmine. reporter: heidi is the founder and ceo of roots of peace. over the past 25 years, the nonprofit has removed millions of landmines worldwide and

planted fruit trees, planning to add to that tally in ukraine. >> may we turn minds to vines, repays land lines -- minds with vineyards. reporter: they will be taking action, targeting wine country near the baltic sea. >> there is a region where we have a lot of wine production. reporter: consul general for ukraine and san francisco. he says landmines are threatening the country's agricultural production. including vineyards. >> if you want production to actually start and producers to not excess fear of wineries because it's covered in mines. reporter: when the snow -- >> when the snow thaws, we will begin the planting of the roots of peace on earth. reporter: birgit hills estate is committed to the call. the winery has been supporting roots of peace for decades, hosting friday's fundraising event is one of its ways.

aircraft? around $700 million. dan: a holiday were to -- tradition returns to the bay area this weekend. the holiday train is ready to spread pedroia families, decked out in 75,000 lights. it will start in san francisco and make stops at four stations along the peninsula. the salvation army band will be among the performers. you can also see santa and mrs. claus. if you are heading to the holiday train, you are asked to bring a new toy to donate. >> this is an opportunity to come out and support us and help kids wake up on christmas day or for hanukkah or whatever they are celebrating and be able to have a wonderful time. dan: the rain forecast for the weekend will not deter the holiday train. that's good fun for a good cause. san francisco will be glowing for the next week. ♪ tonight was the kickoff

celebration for the art installation let's glow sf. london breed was downtown for the festivities. officials say it's america's largest holiday projection and aims to bring foot traffic back to the financial district. you can see different shows at five different locations from 5:00 to 10:00 every night through next sunday. really creative. ama: we are going to get a little rain this weekend. dan: we want to know what the timing is like. spencer christian is here with the weather. spencer: ok. we could use a little glowing tonight. it will be so cold in some spots. it's cold already in some spots. here's a look at current temperatures. the warm spot is san francisco at 37. as we take a look at other temperatures, it's even chillier in some spots. 33 already in santa rosa. upper 30's in novato. these are our forecast headlines. freezing again tonight in the inland valleys.

in the north bay mountains inland mountains as well. chile tomorrow and more snow will fall in the sierra. let's take a look at our freeze warning in effect until 9:00 tomorrow morning for the interior valleys and mountains in the north bay and portions of the range through the mount hamilton area. low temperatures will drop down to upper 20's in the coldest spots. that means you should protect sensitive plants, pets, pipes, and people. here's a look at the lows. 26 in santa rosa overnight. 27 in lakeport. 33 in fairfield and napa. pretty cold. tomorrow will be a chilly day as well as the rain arrives and highs barely break the 50 degree mark. the storm coming our way ranks one on the storm impact scale. we expect rain, scattered showers. wetter tomorrow than sunday. rainfall totals for the two days , about 3/10 of an inch to about

two inches. here's the forecast. the first wave of rain comes up from the south tomorrow. that will continue through the morning and afternoon. and then another wave of rain drops down through the pacific northwest. that will bring us rain overnight tomorrow night into sunday. through the day on sunday, followed by another wave of worrying that will come in. three days of level 1 storms coming our way. in the sierra, there's going to be snow. winter storm warning from affect -- in effect. another one to three feet of snow. here's the accuweather 7 day forecast. we have three level 1 storms coming our way. the rainiest day will be tomorrow but it will be wet as well on sunday and part of the day on monday. we dry out midweek next week but it doesn't warm up much. it starts to cool down toward the end of next week with daytime highs in the inland areas only in the low to mid 50's. chile winter weather coming our
