several rounds of rain with more to come. think you for joining us, i am j.r. stone. we begin on storm coverage tonight. live doppler 7 tracking more rain to come. more live team coverage with some of the problems all over the bay area, all across the area. first, the accuweather forecast, francis is timing out more wet weather moving through the bay area. francis: you can see it here. we will see several waves passing through. right now, we do see some rain falling on the peninsula and moving over the bay and into the east bay. on the storm impact scale, it is a one out of five. on and off showers through tuesday morning. rain totals range from a 10th of an inch, up to an inch. canfield had .83 inches.

it is just a scattered shower activity. here is a look at the forecast animation. we will start to see heavier rain moving into tomorrow morning for the commute. then we get spotty showers in the afternoon before another wave arrives monday night. and then starts to dissipate by tuesday afternoon. more coming up. j.r.: rain and chilly temperatures dampen some activities across the bay area. cornell barnard is live in mill valley tonight and tells us, the weather even led to some postponements. cornell: we have seen showers off and on today. the rain is such a welcome sight. but it can be challenging if you are planning an event or a parade. a wet sunday morning in the north bay. downpours made driving challenging in san rafael. in the east bay, this large tree

came down saturday, crushing on to at least two cars and damaging others near roberta avenue in henderson road. luckily, nobody was hurt. >> we thought it was a thunderstorm. but it was a tree that fell into our street, into our cars. cornell: as the day progressed, dark storm clouds came across the horizon in rockmore rain. not far from the winterfest community celebration in mill valley. ♪ these chan family from san jose made the trip to grab some holiday vibes. >> the drive here was nice, but we are concerned about these clouds coming in and hopefully the weather stays good. >> i love winter, i love rain. i love it all. if it rains, it's fine. sunny, it's great. cornell: organizers were considering canceling the event, but the weather held out. >> i gave everybody who was a

estimated time on when the road will reopen. highway one is still open between carmel and big sur. our storms have dumped more than 10 inches of snow at the donner pass in the sierra, creating conditions that meteorologist call, sierra cement. it is dense, heavy, moisture filled snow. all of this happened in the last 24 hours. uc berkeley's no laboratory posted this video. they said it more snow would have been recorded if not for the rain. more snow is expected throughout today and tomorrow. all that snow is making for some treacherous driving conditions. these chp bucky tweeted this video today, urging people to slow down when driving through the sierra. chains are required on both i-80 and highway 50 in the tahoe area. we want to give you a better perspective now on those snowy driving conditions. take a look, several caltrans camera's.

pop up. right now we are showing you live doppler 7 let radar. some rain falling over parts of the peninsula. temperatures are starting to cool down into the 40's, san francisco, 53. san jose, 56 right now. there is a pretty view looking at the wet roads -- along the embarcadero. here is what you need to know. we will have off and on showers all the way through tuesday morning. then, we get a break tuesday afternoon. it will be chilly but dry on wednesday. another system heads our way. it will be similar to this one. arrive thursday night and may linger all the way into next weekend. i will show you the forecast animation. for tonight, we can expect spotty showers and then a wave of rain moves through during the monday morning commute. it could be pretty messy along the bay and adm 680.

then we have those spotty showers where we can find those rainbows in the afternoon. an aim of rain moves latmorrow s the bay arearain totals range qt from .04 inches in livermore to .91 inches in san francisco. this gives you an idea of the spotty and scattered nature of the showers over the next couple days. animist situation. the winter storm warning has been extended until 2:00 p.m. tomorrow. it will be difficult driving to and from tahoe. if you can hold off until tuesday or monday, that would be a better bet. tonight slows will drop into the upper 40's with rain moving in. cooler temperatures in the low 40's through parts of the north bay. tomorrow will be another cool day, but those temperatures are in a very narrow range, upper 50's almost everybody. a little bit cooler in lakeport.
