north carolina are preparing to be without electricity for days after gunfire damage to electrical substations seen in the case that the show that the firearm had been used. to disable the equipment. an estimated 45,000 customers lost power saturday night when authorities say someone opened fire on the substations in moore county, damaging multiple pieces of equipment. authorities say some areas may have no power until thursday, unlike perhaps a storm where you can you can go in and reroute power somewhere else. that was not an option. in this case, entire towns have no working traffic lights and with cold temperatures in the forecast. a shelter has been opened in a local sports complex . the sheriff says the attack appears to be targeted. they're looking into whether the sabotage is connected to a drag show in the area. earlier saturday, a crowd gathered outside the theater to protest a drag show that night. our 40

mom stepped in, and this wasn't the only animal attack over the weekend. this morning. two moments of parental heroism caught on camera after young children were attacked by wild animals in broad daylight. in connecticut, logan mcnamara's five year old daughter, riley was waiting for the bus friday when a raccoon latched onto her leg. logan rushes outside is riley screams in terror, she manages to yank the animal off her daughter and struggles with it as riley runs inside record down. eventually she is able to toss the raccoon into the front yard and get inside. both mom and daughter were bitten and scratched and went to the hospital for rabies shots. both are okay. but logan says she'll be setting traps on her property after animal control officials were unable to track down the raccoon. meanwhile in california
