2002. kumasi: happening the man accused of attacking in east bay restaurant worker is expected to be arraigned. the 20-year-old is facing three felony charges. last month, he punched and assisted manager in the face several times after she stood up for a boy with special needs who was being bullied. the worker lost her right eye because of the attack. he could face 11 years in prison. it appears metta is trying to cut more cost. a 113,000 square-foot office is listed. meta is hanging square feet of offices. the company laid off 11,000 employees last month. meta has been reducing workspaces all over and could be moving out of its offices on fremont street in san francisco.

no decision has officially been announced. reggie: the first court hearing involving a lawsuit involving former twitter employees is set for today. the class-action lawsuit says twitter violated -- the act says large employers need to give 60 days' notice ahead of mass layoffs. people are expected to speak publicly ahead of the hearing this afternoon. kumasi: a suspended twitter using is awaiting -- an attorne says he was unfairly suspended from twitter in february 2021 for election misinformation. twitter suspended him after his fifth strike. >> we are the first to take it on. we are doing this for every american citizen to defend their constitutional right to criticize their government without their government censoring them or colluding with private companies to do their

river restoration project american history. california hit the green light last month for a project to remove four dams to restore river health and fish population. it runs through northern california and southern oregon. there will be a celebration on the river later this morning. kumasi: it has been 10 years since a san francisco anti-violence organization first started buying back guns. . there will be another event this weekend. . several university studies have shown gun buybacks are not effective in reducing gun crime. communities might feel encouraged by these programs do not reduce homicides or mass shootings because the demand for guns continues to grow. in most cases, the people giving up the guns are not the ones committing violence. >> easier access to guns, more people will die. >> they are forgotten about. there in the hands of grandkids,

nephews, nieces and oftentimes people do not know guns are missing. kumasi: police say even tragedy is prevented, the events are worth it. reggie: commercial crab fishing season has been delayed. the california department of fish and wildlife says a large population of humpback whales are off the coast were fishing boats catch dungeness crab. ryan curry joins us to talk about this financial burden for some fishers. >> many bay area families have dungeness crab as part of their holiday meals. this is a large source of income for fishers that they are not getting. i spoke with someone who has been fishing for dr. this crab for several years. he said he uses crab season to pay for things during the winter. he said he has to look for other ways to obtain an income.

the department of fish and wildlife said a recent flyover showed numerous humpback whales off the coast making it unsafe to start crab season. >> there are a lot of whales around, the risk is high and the risk of entanglement is high. >> we only get paid when we have a season. if that season gets delayed from one season to the next, it could be months. we do not have a paycheck. bills keep coming in the same but it does not go out. >> humpback whales are a federally protected species. crab fishers use gear that could harm them which is why they are waiting for them to migrate out. they also say they plan on reassessing the waters on december 22. if the whales are gone, the season could start as early as december 31. ryan curry, abc 7 news. reggie: now for your morning
