procession at the corner of perry mount avenue and little orchard street wednesday night. abc 7 news reporter amanda del castillo as more on marcello's impact and how she's being honored. amanda: a black bow now hangs over the entrance of the healing grove center in san jose. another is affixed to the store of maria marcelo, center co-founder and beloved community leader. marcelo was hit and killed wednesday night while leading a rosary procession as part of the nine-day virgen de juquila tradition. >> there were children there, there were, you know, lots of families there, and it's just not something anyone ever wants to see happen. amanda: dr. angela bymaster is a family physician with healing grove and a close friend of marcelo. bymaster says marcelo spent months planning the days long oaxacan christmas time tradition and was killed on the eighth night of celebration. ♪ less than 24 hours later, marcelo's loved ones were

this afternoon. this comes as the national weather service issued a winter storm watch for the sierra this weekend. they are expecting up to 12 inches of snow above 3500 feet. but the snow is not the only concern over the weekend. the santa rosa fire department tweeting a strong storm is forecasted for this weekend. residents in and around the glass fire burn scar should be prepared. >> or not the rainfall rates get to the point where it creates or it could create land movements, such as debris flows, mudslides, rock slides. lena: california highway p says they typically see spinouts during wet weather and people still are driving the same speed, if not faster. they are asking everyone to be mindful of this and slowdown. if you do decide to make that trip up to the high country near lake tahoe today, make sure that you have chains in your car

their rights or freedoms away. americans say they support same-sex marriage that number keeps increasing. the bill was fast tracked by congress after supreme court justice clarence thomas suggested the court should reconsider protections for gay people and contraception after the court overturned roe v. wade earlier this year. reggie? reggie: the house also approved an offense -- a defense spending bill that looks a covid vaccination 90 for the military. the bill gives the military a budget worth more than $857 billion. that's 10% more than last year. and it includes a 5% raise for military members. $10 billion to finance sending military equipment to taiwan and $800 million to help ukraine. is expected to pass the senate before heading to the president's text. kumasi: schools may soon have a new tool to help save students overdosing on fentanyl. interstate monica wants to require schools to have narcan available.
