>> we are waking up to wet roads and downed trees after rain poured down on the bay area. >> this storm is unusual and of been here 45 years. this is not something that is frequent. >> what to expect today as we take a closer look at the damage left behind. good morning, everybody. we are continuing our storm coverage this morning. let's get a check outside where it is raining in some parts of of these downpours are quite heavy. if you look at live doppler 7, you can see the yellow and some of the white.

we have snow down around mount hamilton and even mount diablo. looking at the shower activity, and some of it is heavy as we go down towards pleasanton, 580, some moderate rain of towards the north bay, american canyon, heavy. as we go back westward through marin county, some spotty, let showers. on the peninsula, river city to woodside, 280, scattered showers. snow levels below 4000 feet. 3700 feet up in the north bay. this is a level 1 system. light rain showers, occasional downpours, and some localized flooding. temperatures are in the 40's. it will stay cool today. the wind certainly not as breezy. we do not have any advisories for you. we are anywhere from a couple degrees to nine degrees colder. through the next several hours, you'll notice on and off rain showers and some downpours at times. we will talk details of what to

expect and rainfall amounts coming up. liz: thank you. breaking news this morning. a person walking on the san mateo hayward bridge has died after a two-car crash that happened just after 11:30 last night along eastbound highway 92. chp says one person got out of their car after the crash, then was hit by another vehicle. it is unclear if the driver of that car stayed at the same. all lands on eastbound highway 92 are now open. the cause of the crash is unknown. the storm we are talking about with lisa has caused damage in the bay area. while we definitely need the rain, it has created quite a mess. in the mountains, they are seeing white out conditions. we find out what else we can expect today. >> even with the boat show must go on.

a technical difficulty with that story. we will try to get it to you, but meantime, we are looking at some of the road conditions up in the sierra. caltrans does not recommend going to the sierra today through the rest of the weekend. a winter storm warning will stay in place until tomorrow. people still planning to drive if you need to can expect chain controls, road closures, and delays. highway 80 has closed both ways. chp urges travelers extra supplies. this storm dumped so much rain in the north, the national weather service issued two flood advisories, but it was not just the rain and wind that caused problems. cornell: the storm was intense, bringing fierce, heavy rains. driving was treacherous on highway 101 in san rafael. there was street flooding in mill valley.

and then there was the wind. >> they are the ones that put of the yellow barrier. >> never took gilly and showed us this oaktree which toppled onto wickham drive and mill valley saturday morning, and electricity was not knocked out to several homes. luckily, nobody was hurt. >> this storm was unusual, and i've been here 45 years, so this is not something that is frequent. cornell: in mana rio, four homes were damaged when several trees fell during the storm. a limb tearing a hole through the roof of the house where cynthia cook was staying. >> we are grateful for being inside and knot outside and trying to stay safe, enjoying the weather, but this was a little bit much. more than we anticipated. >> this is our first big storm

event. when we first got here, the trees were dry. now they are filled with water and toppling over. cornell: this fallen tree was blocking the smart train tracks before firefighters removed it. at the food bank from keeping their food drive going. >> you can just arrive. you don't need to get out of your car. we have our elves on site to take the food to you. liz: taking a live look at san francisco international airport, the bay area's biggest airports had a few hiccups caused by the weather. more than 300 flight delays were reported, but just eight canceled flights yesterday. the average flight delay at oakland airport was 27 minutes.

your would national monuments as it opens -- it hopes to open today. the park was closed saturday because of the storm which came in with high wind. the golden national recreation area says reservations for yesterday will be automatically refunded. there have no reports of damage at this time. here's a current look at pg&e's power outage map. there are lots of green dots, which indicate people have lost electricity or power. we have not seen any huge, widespread outages which would be marked with either orange or red indicators. the south bay and santa cruz county appeared to be the most impacted right now. at one point, the sacramento municipal utility district and pg&e set about 76,000 customers were without power. we see one red triangle there just coming up. you can check the forecast any time and get live doppler 7 on demand on our abc numeral seven bay area streaming tv app. download that app now.

>> welcome back. here's a live look from our roof camera. the bay area and doppler seven has been very busy and active. we are tracking rain as it pushes through. lisa will have our forecast for us. right now tracking this rain, how much more can we expect for the rest of the weekend? lisa: we probably could see a quarter of an inch to an inch. some of these downpours certainly bringing down a lot of rain in a short period of time, and there is lightning out there . area of low pressure dropping down along the coastline, and that is bringing the unstable air with us. as we look at live doppler 7 right now, you see all sorts of colors from green to white and yellow. the white is the snow. snow level is below 4000 feet. looking out towards clayton, you can see a heavier sell their. highway four and showers back

towards walnut creek. here we are, american canyon, highway 29 and up towards cornelia, moderate rain into san quentin. light to moderate showers through lucas valley. have a 101. further to the north, it is cold . temperatures will be barely in the 50's later on today, and that cold air allowing for some rain to move in to highway 51. on and off rain showers from 82 and down through san jose into snowy mount hamilton, anywhere from two to four inches. that could be conservative because there's still a lot of moisture around with that cold air in place, this is going to fall as snow, so be careful out there. looking at the big picture, you can see the sierra nevada very snow way. we're looking at the possibility of some thunderstorms today and this winter storm warning taking us through early tomorrow with

and down trees after rain poured down on the bay area. what to expect as we take a closer look at the damage left behind. good morning, everyone. thanks for joining us. we are going to start with another check of our storm watch. it is no longer level two. it has been downgraded to a level one. >> the downpours coming down pretty good and we will see that throughout the day. looking at the peninsula there, pescadero, montero, where we can see some downpours through the next few minutes, but i want to loop this for you so you will see there are some lightning strikes. you can see them in the central valley and the snow coming down in the higher elevations. cordelia, american canyon, vallejo, scattered light showers, but ran from kensington and over into berkeley there, so there's the lighter rain in the north bay. we are getting into san francisco, the sunset, the bayview, some moderate rain and that rain pushing into the center of the 280 area, the corridor, and the snow from the

of it enough to stop stefan and his family from making the trip from fremont. >> we kind of plan on coming out here today. it is my so' 2h birth so we came out here and had a little mexican food down here and had a great day. >> people were still piling into parking lots determined to get this christmas lists done. the turnout making many business owners happy, a relief for those still working to make a comeback from the pandemic. the storm impact is being felt around california. five cars were trapped powerlines in sacramento due to the storm. powerlines fell between the intersection of sunrise boulevard and florin road. metro highway patrol responded to an emergency and over 30,000 people lost power. one person had pieces of glass stuck inside her mouth from the powerline falling and breaking her windshield. the driver was stuck in a ditch for over an hour after trying to avoid the crash.

and as we go into san francisco daly city, the bay view, some on and off like to moderate showers . down along the peninsula, pescadero there, this is where we get some heavier rain. light rain on and off for your cross the san mateo bridge. a little bit of a break there over into the bayshore, but it will pick up and as we look at mount hamilton, looking at some snow. we will be accumulating snow throughout the day. maybe a couple of inches here and into the mountains. we still have our winter storm warning through 4:00 tomorrow morning. snowfall amounts from a couple of inches around incline to about 10 inches southlake. tahoe city, maybe seven inches, still very gusty wind out there, but at home, the wind breezy. certainly not as bad as yesterday with the cold front. it is 45 in san leandro castro valley. as we look at our 24-hour temperature change, it deals a lot colder, doesn't it?
