>> building a better bay area, moving forward, finding solutions. this is abc7news. >> graphic new details and a celebrity hit list. new information about the attack on paul pelosi as a judge determines there is enough evidence to send the case to trial. >> thank you for joining us. the suspect is facing attempted murder charges stemming from his alleged violent attack on paul pelosi in october. today he was in court and abc7news reporter stephanie sierra joins us live with the new details. >> grew some new details revealed in court today about how this attack on paul pelosi unfolded and suspect david's alleged plans after to target others on his hit list. we learned today some of those

targets include governor gavin newsom, actor tom hanks and hunter biden. investigators say david was planning to go directly to their homes after this attack. throughout the nearly four hour hearing, the prosecution called two witnesses to testify, including one of the officers who responded to the scene and a lieutenant from sfpd's special investigations division. the evidence and interviews shared revealed a chilling new perspective of the attent of this attack. -- intent of this attack. let's start with the 911 call. paul pelosi's voice was calm during the conversation with the operator that he had in the bathroom where he suddenly hinted to her that a man that he did not know what was in his house, looking for his wife, nancy pelosi. shortly after, paul asked for capitol police which we later learned were not monitoring cameras at the time. body camera footage played in court revealed he was unconscious on the ground in a pool of blood and snoring within a 30 seconds of officers

knocking on the door. officer kyle demonstrated before the judge how he saw david strike below seem with a five pound steam hammer more than a foot long. prosecutors played a 17 minute clip of david's first interview with investigators where the defendant said he did not regret anything he did. adding he was tired of the lies from democrats. saying quote they are criminals, endless crime spree. it's a whole four years of crime. saying it is worse than watergate. we asked the district attorney about him pleading insanity. >> that is something that is normal in criminal cases. we will of course prepare accordingly it should that be what he does. >> meanwhile david's public defender had little to say. >> no further comments today about the case. mr. david will be fighting this in court. thank you. >> investigator poulos ee would take him out 10 different times. in the interview he admitted to threatening paul pelosi

saying i have other targets and if you stop me from getting to other people, you will take the punishment. >> david will be tried on all six charges filed against him including attempted murder. towards the end of the hearing, judge stephen murphy said a substantial amount of evidence against david saying quote it shows he intended to kill paul pelosi and did so with premeditation and intimidation. >> speaking of some of that evidence, what else was shown in court? >> well, we also watched security footage of u.s. capitol police that showed how david entered the paul pelosi property and used -- struck rather the window, the patio window that was broken into 16 times. and that still was not enough, so you can see david used his own body to then force the

store for a chilly one. this is a live look outside as we prepare for freeze warnings and watches overnight. for the details let's go to abc7news meteorologist sandhya patel. >> it is going to be bone chilling cold for tomorrow morning. one to 9 a.m. tomorrow, numbers down to about 30 degrees. that we -- that means there could be frost and freeze. bring in pets and do not forget about the pipes outdoors. frost advisory for the bay shoreline and the coast. same time, temperatures down to the mid 30's when the frost does form, it could damage those plants. as we go our by our, in the 40's and 50's at 6:00 but look what happens by 4 a.m., you're down to 32 degrees in santa rosa. fairfield, cold weather alert. you want to dress in layers, limit outdoor time. people, plants, cover them, bring them inside especially if they are tender.

do not forget to bring pets inside and pipes, cover any outdoor pipes to prevent them from bursting. i will be back to let you know how long the chill will last coming up. >> we will see you in a few moments. cold temperatures are adding an emergency to the search for a missing elderly woman in the north bay. her name is virginia and petaluma police say she has dementia. she was last seen it yesterday afternoon on mountain view avenue and was wearing a red shslt-ordveee blouse, black pants and orange shoes. virginia is described as aboutv0 pounds. if you have seen her, call the police immediately. >> two people were shot an apartment complex in castro valley this morning. police say the ambush happened at this apartment near grove way. two male victims received a serious gunshot wound. suspects took off before deputies arrived. detectives are looking for additional witnesses and video to identify suspects.

>> there is video tonight showing the random attack against a 79-year-old woman on a unique bus. it is a story we broke monday on abc7news. let me warn you the video is tough to watch. police released a new clip of the surveillance video. you can see a man taking the woman in the stomach there, knocking her to the ground. she was back on december 3, -- this was back on december 3, she was boarding a bus at laguna. she is ok, thank goodness, but police are asking anyone with information about the attacker to come forward. >> in san francisco city officials are challenging the mayor after the closure of the controversial tenderloin center. abc 7 news reporter luz pena spoke with reporter -- it could open several wellness hubs where people could use drugs under supervision. closed for over a week, the vast majority of san francisco supervisors are not giving up. on the controversial tenderloin

center. >> the only intervention that i know has proven in the 200 places that exist around the world to improve street conditions, to decrease heavily open air drug use and save lives. >> during tuesday's board of supervisors meeting, eight of 11 supervisors challenged the mayor's decision to close the site. supervisors proposals included allocating $5.5 million to open wellness hubs and a hearing to understand why the mayor backtracked from her initial plan to open the sites. supervisor is skeptical of these hubs. >> the fact that there was no discernible reduction in overdose deaths in the tenderloin during the time it was operating. >> through tuesday's meeting the mayor explained her decision from closing the site. >> the federal legal issues related to this kind of operation including the potential criminal liability for city employees, including possibility of people losing their medical licenses or legal

licenses and a number of other challenges. i believe in overdose prevention programs. >> the city attorney's office said in part the city attorney supports a nonprofit moving forward with new york's model of overdose prevention programs. which the u.s. department of justice has not taken action on. the new york model is not operated with city funding. city staff were on city property. uc hastings law professor george explains. >> of course the reason that the city might like to outsource these services is because if there is liability, they will not be the ones holding the bag. it will be on the other hand, the organization that has provided. >> supervisor preston says the decision is political. the legalities. nothing has changed since she came through the department of public health to the board of supervisors in september and promised wellness hubs. >> in san francisco, luz pena

>> and historic moment as santa rosa city council appointed natalie rogers as the newest mayor last night. rogers is the first lack mayor --black mayor. she previously made history when elected in 2020. rogers first act as mayor was appointing diana mcdonald as the new vice, her former position. city council appoints a new mayor like a lot of communities every two years.

reparations is meeting in oakland. they are trying to come up with guidelines on who is eligible and how much money they could potentially receive. abc7news reporter spoke with the chairperson of the task force about what is next. >> california's task force on reparations has been examining research and data. now it is time to focus on big decisions. >> september's meeting in l.a. and today's meeting in oakland characterized the development stage where now we are not looking for folks to provide expert testimony. >> camilla is the chairperson of the nonmember task force. over the next two days of this meeting in oakland they will be examining major takeaways from previously reported research on the key issues that will be part of the final report. this right because we are setting a precedent for other states and localities and also the federal government as well. >> five key issues discussed will focus on areas of harm which california should compensate. property taken by eminent domain, devaluation of black businesses, housing

discrimination and policing of black communities in harm to people's health. city councilmember says housing is a big issue for her. >> homelessness is charts in california. it is partly because there have been populations, particularly black americans who have been barred from access to housing. >> one issue that has been determined is around eligibility. eligibility will be based on lineage, not by race. that means those who are descendants of former slaves were descendants of free black people living in the u.s. prior to 1900. >> the community of eligibility is settled. that was settled in march. now we have to determine what are the residency requirements. what are the damage time frames. >> a team of economist suggested being upwards of $220,000 for personal compensation. but they insist that number was a higher end estimate and nothing more. >> we are in the developing stage and our final recommendations, including

coincidentally, the promotion launched the same day a lawsuit was filed accusing amazon of stealing tips to reduce labor cost. amazon is denying those claims. >> a picket line might greet last minute holiday shoppers in san francisco next week greet hundreds of workers at the macy's in union square have authorized a strike for next friday and saturday. union is upset with the company's current wage offer along with some of the concessions it is demanding. it says if macy's does not return to the bargaining table, workers could walk out. we reached out to macy's for comment but i'm not heard back. >> in the south bay despite being home to big bay area shopping centers, there is a big push to boost shopping at small businesses in san jose. abc7news reporter zach fuentes spoke with business owners and local leaders about the work being done to bring in more customers. >> this is one o unique neighborhoods filled with small businesses like restaurants, bakeries and clothing stores, all eddie to

take on as many customers this holiday season as they can get. >> she owns menswear and says she has high hopes this holiday season. she tells us in spanish that they hope to sell a lot this holiday season and they think and have faith that they will. of at the end of the day, how small businesses do depends on the support of the community, especially with the major competition they face from some of the biggest shopping centers in the bay area. >> many of us go to the big stores to buy those products but we need to remember that the character in our communities are here at the small businesses. >> a six-week cam holidays san jose has been working to shine a spotlight on that fact. neighborhoods in the city are highlighted in this map, showing spots ideal for holiday shopping. >> over 19,600 in san jose, businesses that their owners live in our community. their employees are also community members.

not so beautiful was the cold this morning. i mean, talk about subfreezing. 29 degrees in santa rosa, below freezing in fairfield, livermore, napa, all in the low 30's. plenty cold. right now, you are feeling the chill but it is not as cold as where it is going to be tomorrow morning. we have 40's and 50's. freeze warnings for inland areas. frost advisories for the coast and bay shoreline. temperatures will be falling into the low to mid 30's so take precaution to protect your little pets, covered those tender plants and definitely do not forget about the pipes and of course anybody obviously who is going to be out for a long time, layer of purity you will need heavy winter coats and jackets. look at the morning lows tomorrow, 30 degrees lakeport, santa rosa. 32 concord, upper 30's around oakland. san jose and 42 in san francisco. we have live clouds.

you can see the cloudiness continuing as we headed toward tomorrow morning. there is a view of some of those clouds from our camera. cold nights and mornings with frost and patchy fog will y tom afternoon and dry weather continues into next week. tomorrow afternoon, some of these temperatures will come up. 58 degrees in santa rosa. considering how cold you are in the morning. mid-50's in half moon bay, 50 eight fairfield, 55 livermore, 56 in fremont. it will be a mix of sun and high clouds. even though it is going to be warmer than early in the morning, i would hang onto that extra layer. we are going to take a look at the gfs model because this computer model keeps that system well to our north tuesday night into wednesday. you will notice it is the pacific northwest of that gets the moisture. the european model is still going with wet weather coming into the bay area tuesday night
