solano county but most of us are dealing with clear skies. chillier this morning than this time yesterday there it a lot of 30's on the board now so you will feel the chill but we do not have freeze warnings or frost advisories out there. for your wednesday, a beautiful looking view, sutro tower showing a lot of sunshine, it is a nice-looking day. temperatures mild, mid-50's to low 60's. we welcome winter later today and we talk about that if you are traveling. we will have the nationwide forecast in six minutes. reggie: now to the state of emergency in humble county after yesterday's 6.4 magnitude earthquake. today the folks get water and supplies to the area. the shaking happened around 2:30 off of the coast of fortuna, a city of 12,000 people. this morning, the extent of the devastation is becoming more clear. we know two people died and at least it doesn't hurt, thousands still without power and gas. pg&e is working to restore that service as fast as possible. humble county issued a boil

water advisory in the entire town -- for the entire town of rio dell, they have no water at all. we have a look at what people are dealing with. >> across humble county, cleanup is underway after the deadly and destructive 6.4 earthquake struck off the coast. officials say to died and several others injured after the quake knocked homes like this off their foundation and through items off of shelves onto the floor. jessica described what it felt like when she was jolted away. >> felt like i was in a tornado. my house is on peers and it moved in circles. it was terrifying, loud. >> much of the damage in the small city of rio dell where 15 buildings have been red tagged too dangerous to enter and to others yellow tagged with parcel damage. darren gallagher's balcony collapsed off his home on wilder

one-on-one with the chief of rio dell police department who says he has never experienced an earthquake like this. >> i've been through several earthquakes and this one felt different. there was a hard hit and then a role and it was pretty scary. for anybody that went through this. >> the police chief delivered blankets donated by the red cross to help people without power warm. pg&e tells us 15,000 our wealth -- 50,000 people are without power. you can see the areas on this map. fortuna and rio dell are the most impacted. pg&e expects the power back on by this afternoon. kumasi: in the bay area, we have had our fair share of sizable earthquakes, we've seen for magnitude 4.00 or greater in the fast few decades. months ago and october, a five .1 earthquake in san jose. we had the nap earthquake in 2014 and that was a 6.0. a 5.6 quite -- quake hit 2007 and 5.0 in 2000.

the storm is on track to blow through several major cities with lizard conditions, dangerous winds, and freezing conditions possibly causing travel ripple effects across the country. because of this, the national weather service is telling people in chicago, parts of indiana, and ohio, to reconsider any travel tomorrow. the good news is airlines are offering waivers for free changes right now, giving folks the opportunity to switch flights ahead of the storm. >> most airlines, especially weather-related, will email or text you the day before and give you the option to change your flight. >> travel experts warned the combination of airlines reducing the number of flights and travel demand growing to pre-pandemic numbers mean flights are up 90 -- up to 95% full. that means if your flight does get canceled, you will have to be patient and try to act

kumasi: happening today, and historic meeting at the white house, ukraine's president said to me with president biden and this is the first time he left ukraine since the russian invasion started in february. jobina: president zelenskyy tweeted the meeting is to " strength and resilience and defense capabilities of ukraine." senior officials call this

meeting an in-depth strategic discussion. the white house sources tell abc news zelenskyy will sit down with key members of president biden's cabinet and the national security team. he will then had to capitol hill where he addresses congress. zelenskyy addresses a potential visit to the u.s. in a recent interview with david murr. >> i have a lot of things with the same what to do we have to discuss that are important things for our country's security and measures for ukraine. jobina: abc news sources say we could see nearly a 2 billion-dollar security assistance package out of the meeting including a patriot missile battery ukraine requested and the meeting is happening -- as this meaning is happening, ukraine one residents -- warns residents to prepare for more tax on crackle infrastructure by russia. kumasi: a new chick-fil-a might be coming to concord of our discussion at today's city planning meeting.

the rising covid cases. reggie: also in oakland, the last news conference today expected to talk about the cities's universal access to preschool and this comes as the mayor appeared on our show to talk about the unfinished business in oakland including building a new stadium and investing in the waterfront. >> we were able to bring million in state and federal competitive grants to make the connections between all the surrounding neighborhoods and oakland's waterfront cleaner, greener, safer, and more protective of the port of oakland operations. reggie: the mayor says she hopes the ballpark at the prude next year. the next mayor of oakland will be sworn in next month. kumasi: for a second time, oakland reportedly delayed a policy to punish sideshow organizers, participants, and people who watch. according to the chronicle, councilmember carol five is

developing news to share with you because we are getting a better look at the damage from yesterday's 6.4 magnitude earthquake in humble county. some homes, knocked from their foundations, items inside others tossed on the floor as you can see. this morning, we know two people have died and at least a dozen others are injured. there is widespread damage including an fortuna, rio dell, and eureka. the epicenter is off the coast in ferndale and this quake is the strongest california has seen in three years. >> i've never seen anything like it and honestly it was like kind of like what you would see as the world ending as things crumble apart. kumasi: the earthquake left behind a trail of damage. the historic bridge over the river in ferndale is closed, the main path into ferndale. structural engineers from sacramento will arrive today to work on repairs. reggie: there's a state of emergency this morning as officials assess the damage.

crews are working to restore power, water, and gas services. it is coming back but slowly. jobina: per share. the height of the outages 70,000 people were in the dark. we spoke with pg&e a little over an hour ago and there is still 15,000 people without electricity. rio dell's the worst damage. the entire town is without running water area many homes and businesses have been severely damaged. >> our priority from the beginning is life. we are concerned about our residents in the county. jobina: there is chance of a quaker stronger than a magnitude five heading in the next week. residents are urged to strap down any large items. abc7news reported liz kreutz is an humble county and she will have live report for a starting midday live at 11 a clock in reggie: state officials say the earthquake warning system work, happened right before the quake. >> the early warning system, the new system we have, was able to

actually push out alerts 10 seconds in advance of the earthquake shaking to some 3 million people in northern california. reggie: the advance warning gave people the opportunity to drop, cover, and hold or get to a safe place with the 10 seconds before the earthquake struck area kumasi: since the original earthquake, dozens of aftershocks in the area including at least two this morning and one happened in the middle of a news conference with local officials. look at this. >> aftershocks uninvited guests. kumasi: ironically, one year ago yesterday magnitude 6.2 earthquake at the same region. that earthquake was 27 kilometers in depth, much deeper than yesterday's 10 glebe -- 10 kilometer depth. the greater death made it feel less intense peer the region is called a mendocino triple

up on airports across the country and it comes at the same time as a powerful winter storm is bearing down on tens of millions of americans. lena howland is live at sfo as people are trying to get out of town. hi, lena. >> hey, reggie, good morning. we are seeing a steady flow of travelers heading into sfo this morning. rushing to catch their flights before christmas. also to get out before the major storm pummels parts of the midwest and east coast. the timing of the storm really could not be worse though. all major airlines say tomorrow and friday are the busiest travel days and that is when the storm is hitting. blizzard conditions, dangerous winds, and freezing conditions are expected across several major cities. because of this, the national weather service is already telling people in chicago, parts of indiana, and ohio to reconsider travel tomorrow with places like chicago forecasted
