they all try to cram around the areas and if there lost luggage is actually here at oakland international airport. of all the people we have been coming across today, some people have been waiting for days to get the luggage others have been trying to get the next flight out of the bay area. stranded for days now. we have seen at least one happy person. we caught with -- caught up with one man who landed in the bay area on christmas day and has not seen his bag since. >> quick and easy. quick did you think it would be quick and easy? i did not, i thought i would beer for hours. >> any minute, anything can happen to anyone else. i'm not blaming anybody. the system is collapsing. >> okun international airport at the scrum of bags, people trying to find her luggage.

they're hoping it is at oakland airport. some people have been lucky and they have been able to find those bags. others being told your bag is not here. i want to start with some of the frustration of passengers trying to get the next flight out. we spoke with 11 who had her flight to san diego canceled. it was canceled again just about one hour ago. now southwest airlines is telling her she will not be able to get here, just down to san diego, not until new year's day. lots of frustration, lots of anxiety, travelers at open international. reporting live, i am julian glover. >> thank. the ceo of southwest released a -- released a video statement today, a spinning the airline's issues. >> here is why this tide pods is taking several days to solve. southwest is the largest carrier in the country not only because of our values but because we built our flight schedule around.

live to answer the question coming up at 6:30. >> airlines are blaming the weather for delays and we surely had a stormy morning here in the bay area. suzanne joins us live from sfo where the weather continues to create some travel headaches. 70 flights canceled. airport authorities say things have dramatically improved today compared to the last couple of days. he has some people wrap up their christmas travel, a major storm passes through the area here. >> at ocean beach, the waves look fierce. with the high surf advisory, no servers were found in the water today. there were no cars to be seen on the stretch of the highway. the southbound leg was closed for a while. quick she had said. she is not a fan of the rain. >> morgan and her four-legged buddy braved the elements or

what is left of an outgoing storm that drenched the bay area. >> it has been more tolerable here. my family is in chicago rate they are getting the worst of it. i feel lucky to be in the bay area. i got wet but just really extreme. >> according to the san francisco department of public works, there was minor flooding on the street because of the heavy rains but nothing to be concerned about. pg&e says at one point, 400 customers were without power. that number has significant lead dropped. meanwhile, at sfo, some of the weather-related delays and cancellations continue. so do the headaches. >> i was in line over three hours. >> sarah is trying to get to portland. >> my flight out of san francisco was late about one hour and 45 minutes. there were probably 100 people on there who did not make their connections.

days. story. around the bay area. the system has moved its way south. talk about rainfall amounts. we saw anywhere from one to three, even four inches of rain, mount tam is the most impressive at slightly over six inches. 4.7 inches, sam sisco, 1.9 inches. the least amount of rain we saw was in san jose due to the rain, only three fourths of an inch. any areas in east bay well over two inches. it is quiet a system. we have another one on the way. for now, we have a little bit of a break. tuesday and then all the way into wednesday, you notice it is drying out.

>> we continued to get information when a black he sedan drove on the wrong side of south airport boulevard and crashed head on into another vehicle. police say one of the vehicles was reported stolen and that they chased it briefly. eventually, the stolen vehicle took off and crashed head on. three people were injured, none seriously. the driver was taken into custody. >> the storm did some serious damage. big five sporting goods store had the roof collapsed but it could have been worse. we have more with the story tonight. good evening, you're right, it could have been a lot worse. no injuries to report. behind me you will see yellow caution tape, red danger tape still blocking the entrance to the store. i got an email from the city a short while ago. it says the main beam of the

center of the storm broke which caused the roof to collapse. it flooded the store. the hole in the roof at this big fives -- big five sporting goods store shows the impact of tuesday morning's rain. >> thank goodness there. >> the fire department got the call just before 6:00 a.m. but when they arrived on scene, a big part of the stores repaired collapsed. it likely also caused water damage to the rated store. crews working to pump out the water. the san ramon valley fire chief says with a large amount of rain and the flat roof, drainage might have been an issue. >> with a flat roof, rain is going to be the weight of the water. drainage is very important. >> win myint would come down, definitely notice.

>> airlines are blaming the weather for thousands of delayed flights. if you got stranded by your airline, what can you do? >> michael finney keeps track of all of these things and he is here now. >> we were talking about this at 5:00, to get compensated for delays, the airline must be at fault. if your flight is delayed by weather, you're entitled to no compensation at all. but what about your luggage? if your luggage is lost, you're owed as much as $3800 for a domestic flight and $1850 for an international one. you have to prove that you lost what you lost and some high-value items are not included depending on the airline. if your luggage is just delayed, the airlines do have to help you out. >> if the airline mishandled your luggage and it separates you from your luggage, passengers are entitled to some compensation for out-of-pocket

>> it has been exactly a week since that big earthquake hit humble county. people are still under a boil water advisory to make sure there any water is safe to drink. red cross is still open but the emergency supply this tradition center may have its last day tomorrow. the red cross has just repeated nearly 200 cleanup kits to help people remove debris. at least 30 homes are not safe to live in because of the way. two people died and several others were hurt.
