exclusive storm impact scale. drew tuma is back more rain is going to be moving in. we will start with the latest on the aftermath of the storm. tens of thousands are still without power across northern california this morning. pg&e boards that the majority of the bay area, daly san francisco, a young child was killed in occidental when a tree fell on a home. the first death being blamed on the storm so far. reggie: there are -- kumasi: there are evacuation orders due to the threat of flooding. several school districts have closed campuses today. that list is growing at the bottom of your screen. you can also find the information on abc7news.com. reggie: thank you for joining us for this special edition. kumasi: live team coverage of the storm again today and we are starting with meteorologist drew tuma. drew: flooding and wind threats,

the next round of rain likely coming through between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. this morning and it's not out of the question that we could see thunderstorms as well. live doppler 7, scattering of thundershowers out there. all the green on your screen, we have seen flooding through 5:45 a.m. for places like green valley, santa rosa, holden, willowbrook. these areas saw a lot of rain overnight and the water has subsided. there is still a windindv athis. we have a flood watch in effect through this afternoon because we are expecting more rain on the way. it is a strong storm at a three. scatter downpours with a threat of a thunderstorm. really anymore downpours we see this morning could cause more flooding out there. the wind is breezy and gusty. by 6 a.m. here's the

moving through and by 8 a.m. it's likely on top of those downpours. we will plan the rest of your day coming up in a few minutes. lena: good morning, everyone. mudslide right now as you are approaching -- we would probably call this, i will get on the map to see exactly the spot this is in terms of the city, it's a couple of different lines. westbound 92, westbound lanes are blocked. you can see it's highlighting on the sensors and it's going to be one way traffic control for a while in that area. over to woodside, now, downed power lines at the skids point ovlo and we are learning that caltrans is not going to respond to this right away because it's a dangerous situation is what they are telling us. that area is blocked as well. i will get to flooding later on in the show but i did want to talk about the wind, we have

high wind advisories issued for pretty much all the major bay area bridges right now. san mateo, the bay bridge camera is shaking as well. this includes the golden gate bridge and the richmond san rafael. the list goes on this morning. kumasi: thank you, jobina. martinez, you can see the cars moving slowly overnight. remember, this is not advised. you do not need to do this this morning. if you see flooded roadways, do not drive in them. you really can't tell how deep the water is. there's also a lot of damage in sonoma county, where the storm is being blamed for the death of a child. there is a threat this morning of flooding on the rushing river. lena howland is on the way to thar. good morning, lena. off to petaluma right now wheng we are getting early reports of

flooding happening right now near stony creek road and petaluma boulevard. we are headed that way to give you a closer live look at thoseg northbound near the san rafael area, where the roads are honestly pretty clear, only seeing a couple of sprinkles and no problem areas whatsoever in the san rafael area. not much traffic on the roads at this hour either. up in sonoma county we have learned a child was killed by a falling tree last night in occidental. the fire chief says a redwood fell on a double wide trailer killing a two-year book -- two-year-old boy at home inside. his parents were also inside but not hurt in the coast, trees were down, closing the road near timber cove. fire fighters say have been

responding to toppled trees since dawn and it may be a similar story for them today. sebastian poole, strong winds and heavy rain with metal floodgates going up at the barlow shopping district to protect businesses from water damage in case nearby laguna santa rosa overflows. you may remember that parts of downtown saw flooding back in 2019, which is why this area was a big concern. we are also keeping a close eye on the rushing river area where homeowners are being asked to get prepared. sonoma county issued a flood warning for the area last night as the river is expected to crest at 33 feet by tonight into tomorrow morning. again, that is a very serious situation. if you get evacuated you are asked to remember to take all essential items with you like medication. we are again heading to petaluma

right now and are hoping to give you a live look at the situation with the flooding, coming up soon. lena howland, reporting. reggie: the other issue this morning's power outages. on this map you can see a large section with outages across northern california. there's quite a bit of damage there, too? gloria: there is and it's still pretty windy out here. we are live in -- south san francisco at a valero. this gas pump was crushed by the canopy. thankfully not hearing about reports of injuries out here but it shows you how powerful the wind was yesterday. we saw pg&e cruise out all day and evening yesterday. they say they have 1300 workers to handle power outages.

says to call and reported to help locate the project -- problem. >> if customers have questions around a power outage or if they see damaged equipment, don't hesitate. please give us a call. safety is one of our biggest priorities and we want to make sure the not only are the customers safe but we want to be able to restore power as quickly as possible to them as well. gloria: if you want to report an outage, you can call them. pg&e has a map on their website so you can see where the outages are to see if your neighborhood is affected and when power might be restored. i've got to tell you i live on the coast and our power went out at 2:00 yesterday at the start of the heaviest part of the storm. we lost power, cell phone

reception, internet. i know a lot of people are dealing with that today. gloria rodríguez, abc 7. kumasi: thank you, gloria. we know flooding has been an issue across the area. look at this, we saw a car floating in a flooded underpass at 34th and webster. it was under 580 no one was in the car. reggie: falling trees are another big concern. we have seen them coming out across the bay area. this one took out a power line in el cerrito. >> i heard a loud, loud crack. i thought it was an earthquake. i looked out and my tree was totally down. yeah, scared me. reggie: can see why. the homeowners says that -- that pg&e will not reconnect the power until the tree is cleaned up. drew: update on the russian river near kernville. minor flooding early tomorrow

morning ashe tiv r first crest, 30.8 feet. were ach w closely. early sunday morning is when we expect moderate flooding. major flooding on the russian river at this point. looks like there crest is at 38.1 feet. scattered showers out there right now with downpours as well. we are watching this line here likely bringing more downpours later this morning and the threat of a thunderstorm. you heard gloria say that it was windy out there. 30 in the abc impact scale, threat this morning. breezy and gusty. future weather showing you the line screen. there could be isolated flooding. more rain is on the way in the next seven days.

more on that in about eight minutes. let's go to jobina with traffic. jobina: if you were with us yesterday or even the day before, then you are familiar with this issue. between fremont and said hola on highway 84, the entire stretch from mission boulevard all the way over to main street is completely shut down and that is because of what you are seeing on your screen here. various mudslides on that stretch of roadway, as well as flooding. we were able to get some video to give you an image of what's going on there. chp says they will not have this area reopened until 6 p.m. tomorrow and on the graphics you can see the purple line, a long stretch of road that will be shut down, they are asking everyone to avoid the area. the golden gate is another example of an area with a wind advisory today. the san rafael bridge, we are watching these cameras shaking.

i spaced out as to which city this would be in for this new mudslide. it's half moon bay that's right on the line there. westbound 90 do -- 92, al westbound lanes are blocked. one way traffic controls with power lines down on state route 35 at the skaggs point overlook in woodside. reggie: the storm impacted a lot of the state. next a mandatory evacuation is being put in place in southern california. kumasi: and the efforts to keep a creek in danville from overflowing for the second time in one week. a live look outside, this is downtown san francisco right now at four: 12. to get the latest breaking updates, get the abc app on your

overflowing their banks. issues out there, the wind is an issue and a lot of people are waking up and seeing and assessing what's happening. reggie and i were talking about driving today and there's a lot of bridges in the city and we will likely see a lot of issues when the sun comes up this morning. here's the flood warning in effect through sonoma county, 5:45, the following streams and creeks, green valley, mark west, cold and greek wiggins creek, east washington creek, we have all this runoff right now and there is flooding in the area. be aware, we will keep our eyes on that location. overnight we had a lot of trees come down, a lot of areas of flooding. once the sun comes up he will do some storm assessing but that comes at a time when more wet weather be moving through. live doppler 7, scattered showers. some in the south bay, some in the east bay. we are waiting for this line moving through here between 5:30

and 8:00, bringing in another round of showers. we could see scattered downpours, not out of the question. the issue is and we are going to talk about this a lot today, we are saturated. any more downpours will easily start flooding isolated areas. there is still a wind advisory in effect. the high wind warning that was in effect all of yesterday is gone. the wind is strongest in the hills. the areas in yellow on the screen. there's a flood warning between the russian river and hopkin. we will keep our eyes on that. the entire region is again under a flood watch and that is because any downpours that we see could create more areas of isolated flooding. we will watch that closely as the day goes on. the wind is an issue, still, and will be through 10:00 a.m. because we have another round of rain to get through. the wind in the hills, gusty as well. 42 miles per hour.

on the exclusive storm impact scale it's a strong storm still because downpours and the threat of a thunderstorm keep the threat elevated along with breezy, gusty wind. taking a look, moving forward through the graphic, there we go, 6:00 a.m. we have a line entering the north bay. 8 a.m., you can see the showers moving through the heart of the region. even through 10 a.m. we are not done with the downpours. it's likely not until the early afternoon that we get rid of the showers and later today we start to dry out. official rainfall, anywhere from half an inch to an inch as the showers move through, certainly causing areas of isolated flooding. the seven-day forecast, just to show you what's happening, there was a morning rain and wind threat in the afternoon, drying out. tomorrow the best chance for any showers come in the north bay and then over the weekend we have level two on the board with more showers working in and early next week have stormy days

compounding the flood threats for the next seven days. reggie? reggie: drew, thank you. people living near san ramon in danville heaven watching the flooding all night. yesterday emergency crews used tractors to dig trenches so the overflow water could be pushed back into the creek. the crews also cut down trees and removed branches and debris to keep the water flowing and hopefully prevent flooding. residents are still very worried about how the saturated ground is going to hold up. trees are falling.and water. >> you are concerned about the saturated soil? >> definitely, yes. trees have been falling more than usual. more than usual. we are not used to all this. reggie: the town of danville has put in a state of emergency. we have more on that coming up this morning. kumasi: you can find the latest

kumasi: here are the seven things to know this morning at 4:22. evacuation order for the watershed areas of the ubs reservoir and the pacheco pass river basin this morning, there is a real threat of flood there after the storm. a little further south there is a flash flood warning you're the north fork damme and water is expected to overflow the dan today. drew: number two, tracking more showers and downpours. flood threat may be elevated this morning as another line of

heavy downpours moves through on the exclusive storm impact scale. level three strong storm because any downpours we see have isolated flooding this morning. jobina: the newest and biggest issue is a mudslide in half moon bay. all westbound lanes of 92 at pillar seato's creek road are blocked right now. one way traffic control is in effect. reggie: the storm is now being blamed on two deaths. a child killed when a tree fell on a home in occidental last night and a 19-year-old died in a crash in fairfield yesterday morning. kumasi: pg&e is working to restore power to thousands across northern california. the biggest outages in the bay area right now are in bay city. reggie: a state of emergency declared for the entire state because of the storm. several bay area counties have made their own declarations to help with response and recovery. kumasi: several bay area schools are closed due to the storm.
