being blamed for at least one death. what we are learning after a truck fell on a young child. reggie: here is a live look outside as we see that storm moving east but the threat is not over. we are on a level three on the storm impact scale. drew tuma is backtracking the impact today and went more rain will be moving in. let's start with the latest on the storm's aftermath. tens of thousands of people are without power. just over 80,000 people in the area. we will get another update and a little bit. five that are down are in daly city and south san francisco. there are two deaths being blamed on the storm, a child in sonoma county a woman in fairfield. drew: there are evacuation orders in sonoma and santa clara counties. several school districts have

shut schools today. we have that information on abc7news.com. reggie: thank you for joining us for this special edition of abc7 news. kumasi: we want to start with drew. drew: we still have pockets of flooding that will develop later this morning. we are seeing scattered light showers right now. we will press in closer down into the peninsula in the south bay, palo alto, southview, san jose seeing an isolated showers or down work. this line right here, a heavier rain is starting to develop. that will move through in the next few hours and there is a threat of a thunderstorm. a flood watch is still in effect for the entire region. anyone is fair game for a new pockets of flooding this morning as this next round of rain moves through. on the storm impact scale, it is a level three because of the downpours keeping the flood threat elevated. we will track those scattered

showers and downpours. flooding in isolated spots is likely. this afternoon and evening the storm is moving out and we will see storm cleanup from the past 24 hours. we will go hour-by-hour and show where the storm lines up in a few minutes. eck it jobina and see hng anyic. jobina: a number of issues out there, including a couple of sig alert's. in los altos hills, a tree is down northbound 280 before page mill road blocking at least one lane. there is a crash in that spot. it looks like someone may have been trying to avoid the tree. our second sig alert, downed power lines state route 35. pg&e is not coming out of this area right now. they are saying it is too dangerous at the moment. caltrans has put in a full blockage in that area. moving to sausalito where we

have a rockslide reported. this is our newest issue on southbound 101 at rodeo. one lane appears to be impacted. we have a mudslide and this is our most significant closure in terms of slides. westbound 92 at toledo's creek road, all the westbound lanes are blocked. we will rub up here with a live look in san jose. traffic is moving. in terms of vehicles on the roadways, that appears to be low. it is light out there but be aware of any standing water, especially trees coming down and power lines because it is windy. kumasi: there is a lot of damage in sonoma county where the storm is being blamed in the death of a child. there is a threat of flooding along the russian river. in holland is on the way to the -- lena howland is on the way to the area. tell us about this. lena: we are still heading over to --

reggie: we just lost signal. we will get back to her when we can. reggie: another big problem, power outages. pg&e gave us an update in the last hour. there are 80,000 customers without power in the bay area. you can see where the problem areas are on this map. the biggest outages seem to be in daly city in south san francisco and pacifica. gloria rodriguez is covering the impact of the storm had on the peninsula. gloria is one of those people without power and you have new flooding coming in. gloria: we do. we know there was damage in this area and they wind gusts reached up to 50 miles per hour. we want to show you some of the damage we found. we are at a valero gas station. you can see those aghast pumps were crushed, the awning fell on them.

we are not hearing about any reports of injuries here. it doesn't show you how powerful those winds were -- does show you how powerful those winds were. heavy rain and flooding near el camino avenue and el camino real. pg&e crews were out yesterday and overnight. pg&e says it is 1300 workers to handle power outages. if you had a power ethics like i did, you might be wondering what to do. pg&e says you should call and report the outage to locate the problem and get it resolved. >> we do encourage customers if they have questions concerning a power outage or they have damaged equipment, please give us a call. safety is our number one priority. we want to assure not only our customers are safe but we want to restore power as quickly as possible. gloria: if you need to

any outage, you can call this number. you can also check on their website to see where the outages are and if your neighborhood is affected. you can see the trashcan knocked over and quite a bit of damage here at the valero in south san francisco. we will be here all morning long. we will see if anyone will be out here today cleaning this up. as far as power outages, if you haven't already reported yours, make sure you do that so they are aware of the problem and you can get information on when you can get the power back. our power went out at 2:00 p.m. on the coast so we have been without power, without internet and cell phone service. hopefully that will get restored soon. cory rodriguez, abc7news. kumasi: flooding has been an issue across the bay area. we saw this car at 34th and webster in oakland.

it was under 580 near cultivate medical center. reggie: falling trees are another concern. we have already seen some trees coming down in the bay area. this one took out the power to a i heard this loud crack, i thought it was in the earthquake. i looked out and my tree was totally down. it scared me. reggie: the homeowner says pg&e won't reconnect the power until the tree is cleaned up. drew: we are still on storm watch. i want to give you the latest on this flood warning in sonoma county. we are watching our streams and creeks in this area, especially green valley creek and santa rosa creek because we had issues overnight where they did overflow their banks. we are seeing that water slowly receded but we have more showers on the way. here is live doppler seven. scattered light showers out

there but we are watching this line. we are seeing it energize more, downpours pickup. this line, when it moves through will bring about a renewed threat for areas of new flooding.a wind advisory is in n our hills. 30 in the city, 31 in sfo, 29 and a santa rosa and nevada. it is windy out there. future weather come here is that line moving through and focusing on areas of red. that could create a new areas of flooding this morning. it will not take a lot of rain to create that issue. showers move through between 6:00 and 10:00 a.m., we will see half an inch to one inch of new rain coming our way. we will look at the seven day forecast which is wet in six minutes. jobina, we have a lot of issues from this storm. jobina: we will show some of that problem. this is niles canyon road, also known as highway 84.

it runs along alameda creek. it is completely shut down in the eastbound and westbound directions until tomorrow night because of mudslides and flooding in that area. this is flooding showing a crews out there. you can see trees is that moving the debris but it is not safe to drive on. if we come out here to our maps in the studio, we can assure you that impacted area. that stretches what is closed. we have been following that in the past couple of days. because hills, a tree is dow blocking two lanes on northbound 280 before page mill road. downed power lines on state to 35 at skaggs point overlook. this will be in woodside. i wanted to show you live cameras of our bridges. we have high wind advisory is issued by the chp for all of our bay area bridges. this is the san rafael bridge here and check out our emeryville camera showing you how powerful it is out there.

reggie: we are back with drew tuma who has been bidding us through this storm coverage since yesterday morning. drew: the one thing we are watching is when it comes to mudslides and landslides, that can happen days after a storm. overnight in the marin county hills, we had winds gusts up to 110 miles per hour. that is why we are seeing so many trees coming down. sfo and oakla per hour winds.

that is why this storm pecked a punch. a high surf warning is in effect. 20 to 31 foot waves along our coastlines. we see these waves continue through tomorrow morning. please do not turn your back to the ocean if you're going to the coast, you should stay away from the coast. look how they are backing -- they are bouncing around. the winds are fierce, winds gusting over 30 miles per hour at times and even higher winds in our hills. we take a look at live doppler seven, scattered light showers. we are watching this , it will get more energy in the next couple of hours. more downpours are developing. is that land moves through, we could see new areas of isolated flooding. we are still under a flood watch across the entire region. here is future weather showing yo 7:30 that line is moving through and will find gusty winds as the line moves through the bay area.

at 10:30 we are behind that line but still seeing scattered downpours across the region. where they set up they will likely create pockets of the flooding. as we look at 12:30, we are not out of the woods but early afternoon at the showers will get out of here. total rainfall, it will pack half an inch to one inch of rain this morning. that is enough to give us the elevated flood threat. we have a wind advisory until 10:00 a.m. after that, the winds will calm down. the winds are strongest this morning and weaken j. temperatures later today. tonight, the best chance of a shower is in the north bay. storm impact scale will stay at a level one today and on our friday. winter storm warning is in effect still. when the storm is all said and done, we will likely find one to four feet of snow.

snow levels are down to 5000 feet so it is a colder storm, difficult to impossible travel is possible. when's a gusting up to 100 miles per hour. here is the seven-day forecast. today, the level three is from now until 10:00 a.m., that is the worst of the rain and the wind. after that we transitioned to a level one. tomorrow, the best chance is in the north bay. that sets the stage for level two. saturday, sunday, monday and tuesday. story pattern come on and off showers, keep the flood threat elevated. any showers we see comes with a potential for more flooding. reggie: people living new the san ramon creek in denville have been watching conditions all night. that area flooded during saturday's storm so emergency crews used tractors to dig trenches so water could be pushed back into the creek. crews cut down trees and removed ranches and debris from the

us but we still have a lot of rain ahead. drew: the big headline is that we still have the threat for new areas of the flooding as the morning goes on. live doppler 7 shows scattered showers across parts of the bay area. what we are watching now is we have this line off of our coastline that is developing as we speak. you are seeing more yellows pop up within this line indicating this strengthening. as it crosses through between 6:00 and 10:00 a.m., it will bring isolated downpours, gusty winds. where we see those downpours set up we will let me see pockets of new flooding develop in parts of the bay area. the entire region is still under a flood watch. what this means is everyone is fair game as this line moves through this morning for new isolated areas of flooding. we a -xptiwheom half an inch to rarain and wind, wind was a huge

concern last night. we were talking earlier that parts of marin county had wind gusts 90 to 100 miles per hour so that took down a lot of trees. this morning, they are not as strong when we talk about winds but they are breezy. as the line moves through, we will see areas where winds get stronger than this. on the storm impact scale, it is a level three strong storm this morning as downpours move through. we have threat of a thunderstorm as well. the flood threat is elevated. we saw flooding last night and we will likely see new pockets this morning and the winds are breezy. here is future weather. 7:30 come here is that line. what we are focused on is where you see isolated deep reds. those are indicated the heaviest downpours. where those set up, we will likely see pockets of flooding. 9:00 a.m., we are behind that line still seeing scattered showers.

kernville a couple of minutes ago, not far from where the russian river is. most of main street is in the dark without power. this area is also facing a serious evacuation warning over fear of the russian river cresting tonight into tomorrow morning we did check that out, we were not seeing signs of a flooding. this rain is coming down pretty good on us right now which explains the possible evacuation warning issued by sonoma county from healdsburg to jenner as that is expected to crest 33 feet by tonight into tomorrow morning. in sonoma county, we have learned a child was killed by a falling tree last night in occidental which is northwest of san francisco. the fire chief says a redwood

fell on a double wide trailer on joy road killing a 2.5-year-old boy at home inside. his parents were also home when it happened but were not hurt. >> a father in with the child, he was covered in debris and said my child is not breathing. lena: the fire chief drove the father and child to the main road to reach the rescue squad. they started cpr while waiting for medics to arrive but tragically the child died. a lot of members of the department have children the same age as the victim. he is planning to hold a debriefing for members of the department today. back in kernville on main street, this area is under evacuation warning if the russian river does continue to rise at levels expected later today.

over on top of them during yesterday's heavy winds. you can see that pole is sideways into trashcan was not over and the canopy was cash was knocked over and the command -- knocked over and the canopy was completely collapsed. the good news here is that no injuries were reported after this happened. we are keeping an ion the weather because we are expecting more winds and more rain today. we know a lot of people in this area are without power. live in south san francisco, gloria rodriguez, abc7 news. reggie: an amazing fire letter rescue in contra costa county. a father and son were rescued off the hood of a fire truck -- hood of a truck using that letter. they were stuck in the middle of rising floodwater on the offramp of westbound highway four.

no one was hurt but it could have been worse for this family. >> if they did not get out, it could have been bad consequences. they could have been trapped and possibly ground. reggie: interim fire chief johnson urges people to not go through flood waters in the roads. kumasi: sky 7 is showing the yubas canyon. santa clara county has issued evacuation notices to people along the reservoir and river basin. further south, there is a flash flood warning. water is expecting to overflow the dam today. reggie: high winds and heavy rain way recipe for disaster. it caused widespread -- widespread outages. the wind brought down trees and power lines. you can see a tree that fell on the -- in san jose.

left upper seven sure we have a line of downpours moving through. sonoma county got hit hard. we are seeing more showers developing in parts of the sonoma county region. downpours right now, i want to track this line slowly moving to the north and east. downpours into kernville about 73. santa rosa road 6:49 a.m. this line will cross the entire bay area and it is with this line we could see thunderstorms developing and downpours that could great new pockets of flooding. we are at a level strong storm of this morning as that line moves through because the flood threat is elevated and it is breezy and gusty. how it looks today, this morning we have scattered downpours, new pockets of flooding are likely. this afternoon and evening we are going to try out and see cleanup from our storm. let's check in with jobina. we have some issues with traffic. jobina: a brand-new crash that

line that is about to move through here this morning will bring new arkansas flooding. sutro tower is bouncing. we have winds that are strong in spots, not as strong as yesterday. yesterday we had wind gusts in marin county and the hills up to 101 miles per hour. we are just under a wind advisory this morning. those winds are gusting 20 to 31 miles per hour. a flood watch is in effect for the region. what this means at this point is when this line of rain moves through this morning, anyone is fair game to see isolated pockets of flooding. that is something we are tracking closely. we are watching that line move through. you notice the deep red sun your screen. those are heavy rainfall rates we will be watching. later morning hours, scattered downpours out there. into the early afternoon there could be an isolated downpour but later today we are trying

out. rainfall totals, likely picking up half an inch to one inch of rainfall. that is enough rainfall to create new problems. the winds are active. they will weaken. after 10:00 a.m. we expect the winds to back off. today is a level three for rain and wind and the threat of new flooding. later today we begin to dry out. upper 50's for afternoon highs. overnight tonight we keep a level one on storm impact scale because we have isolated showers with the best chance falling in the north bay. temperatures in the 40's. the next seven days for you today, this level three is for the morning, before the first wind and rain and new pockets of the flooding. tomorrow it is a one with the best chance in the north bay. that sets the stage for the weekend and early next week. we have level two and what this means is on and off showers through this forecast creates
