near purdue avenue. that is where lena howland is right now. you just got an update from the police on the officers condition. lena: officer shot overnight is a five-year veteran, is expected to be ok after being shot in his lower body. he is receiving treatment for what the department is calling a non-life-threatening injury. this all started as a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation on a dodge charger just after 11:00 last night. the driver got out of the car and ran away. officers chased him along fordham street. as officers were struggling to get the suspect into custody, he fired a gun once, hitting one officer. officers were able to get him into custody and east palo alto

say that no shots were fired by their officers. willie wiley was known to be a ghost gun converted to a fully automatic gun. ghost guns have been a major issue across the area for the last few years. according to the state attorney general, california law agencies seized a total of 26 ghost gun. by 2021, that increased to 12,38 8. this is an ongoing investigation. we just heard from the interim police chief here who said this is a very stark reminder of the dangers their officers face every day, the ongoing dangers of gun violence. reggie: li na, thank you. now to store much and the

positive signs we have been seeing at our reservoirs. in the east bay and south bay, reservoirs are rising. in marin county, all of the reservoirs are at capacity. >> the last time we were full was 2019 in february. it's been a long time since we have seen them where they are at. reggie: we are not out of the drought. statewide reservoirs are still below normal levels. we would need constant rain through the year to make a dent in our drought conditions. new details about two men found in a home in sea ranch in sonoma county. it appears they died from carbon monoxide poisoning. a generator was found inside the home, on, with the tank empty. liz: we ar husband of a woman who died in the flooding from tuesday storm in sonoma county. daphne fontino was driving to work when she got stuck in high

waterspout, although ocean tornado works. liz: relief for drivers in the east bay. crews have reopened the road in fremont after a mudslide blocked the highway. crews were able to address the flooding near the alameda creek. reggie: the oakland zoo will stay close with the rest of the month as crews worked to repair a sinkhole at the entrance. that is weeks later than they were originally thinking. it does not expect to open until early february. the new year's eve storm resulted in a 10-foot wide sinkhole that is blocking the roads to the zoo's main entrance. officials are now using a back road to care for the animals and say that the animals are doing well. liz: if you are traveling to tahoe for the weekend, you should be right -- should leave right now.

salinas river yesterday afternoon. ag fields remain underwater in parts of monterey county. there are several road closures in the area and some homes are already surrounded by water, and the river is still rising. that is why officials ordered an evacuation for small towns nearby. one woman says she and her family plans to stay despite the evacuation order. >> this is a slow-moving event. the river crests at different times. this will not occur at the same time. >> we have a couple of sandbags laid out. just going to wait it out. gloria: video from our abc 7 archives from the 1995 letting in the monterey area. the salinas river crested more than seven feet above flood stage, topping out above 30 feet. there were major road closures, 68, 156, as well as highway one

within their life. liz: senator wiener says been pushing for rights for conservatorship. not everyone needs it, but for those that do, he says we need more mental health beds and infrastructure like hospital or supportive housing. reggie: the man accused in what police are calling a revenge killing in the east bay will enter a plea. louis lopez is facing murder charges. this happened in december in newark. lopez shot him because he blamed him for the death of his 16-year-old daughter who was hit and killed by a car. liz: there is new information about san francisco's embattled laguna hospital. it's been $536,000 by the state after patients died after being transferred from the hospital. last year, the hospital began discharging patients as part of an order preparing foreclosure.

liz: a live look outside from our sfo camera. the airport is apparently one of the best to fly out of in the country. sfo was among the top six airports with a low percentage of flight delays. sfo had only about 16% delays in 2022, compared to some of the worst experiences, international airport, 28% of flight delays. reggie: airbus is testing out autonomous flying technology for its planes. it is designed for emergencies. if needed, the system could automatically divert a flight to the best airport nearby.
