another two batches of pushing on shore. and highway one is getting washed out right now. not literally but getting rained on heavily. this storm on the exclusive impact scale is a level two, a moderate storm. tomorrow continued showers. it does not look like we can expect the storm to begin to let up until after 6:00 or 7:00 tomorrow. i will have the full forecast in a few minutes. dion: staying on the peninsula we continue our team coverage with abc 7 news reporter j.r. stone who found more downed trees. and for one homeowner it made for a dangerous situation. reporter: there has been a steady rainfall for much of sunday evening. the difference in this storm is winter. it does not feel yearly as

powerful as those past storms but without being said there are still major issues on roadways and in neighborhoods. in menlo park this massive tree took down power lines. firefighters still waiting for pg&e. fire crews advised that the homeowner to stay inside until the lines were cleared. in this neighborhood we also came across a number of branches leaning against a power lines. the roadways have been an issue. in san mateo the driver of the mustang lost control on the entrance ramp ending up in a ditch. the driver was not hurt but a bit embarrassed over what happened. the tow truck showed up to get the car out of the ditch. those we have been talking to say they do not mind the rain but they are ready for nicer weather. >> i'm looking forward to clear weather. i have a lot of shoes that are

[laughter] i come out with my shoes and my umbrella. the shoes are in my garage. they dry out after a few days. what can we do? you hope you do not have trees or accidents on the street and all that kind of stuff but it is what it is. reporter: we came across this spin out in daly city that backed up traffic no one was hurt. rain is still coming down. if you have to go somewhere, be careful. hydroplaning is an issue. j.r. stone, abc 7 news. dion: the u.s. postal service confirmed that one of its trucks toppled over on the golden gate bridge yesterday. the tractor-trailer was heading south over the bridge when it was blown onto its side. the bridge was shut down for over an hour as crews worked to remove the truck. a spokesperson said the trailer was nearly empty.

the driver was not hurt and no mail was lost. crews have resumed the search for a five-year-old missing boy. kyle was swept away as his mom's suv was overtaken by floodwaters on monday of last week. the mother told authorities his last words to her before being swept away was -- mom, it is ok. searches are taking place in what the sheriff as calling extremely challenging conditions. sheriff's office will make a decision on search conditions on a day to day basis. to the north bay where the buildup of rain is leading to serious problems on local roads. this road collapsed along redwood drive. the fire department says the road is closed indefinitely. and highway 37 remains closed due to flooding. abc 7 news reporter cornell barnard takes a look at the mess

this could cause for the monday morning commute. >> too much rain. reporter: caltrans says six water pumps are working to reduce flooding on a two mile stretch on highway 37. the road has been closed to traffic since saturday afternoon. runoff is making the job tough. >> they are pumping the water but it is difficult to get ahead of the game. there is so much water and it is still coming down. reporter: even the smart train tracks are also underwater. caltrans says it repaired and elevated a stretch of 37 in 2019 a levee breach. recent storms though have been no match. >> unless you do a major project , we are still going to get that sort of flooding. >> trashbags. reporter: in sonoma county this

assistance center opened in guerneville. >> we are giving out food and supplies. we are also giving stuff to clean up your house. reporter: there is financial assistance for those that qualify. adelaide says she has of work because of the storms. flooded roads making it dangerous and difficult to travel. the county is not waiting for fema wanting to get funds into those that need it most. >> we have heard from many people concerned that they cannot pay their rent or electric bill. reporter: the recovery center will be open through wednesday night. here on highway 37 caltrans says water pumps have been doing a great job removing floodwater from the roadway. it is essentially gone but with

slamming the sierra all weekend. and look at what yesterday looked like on i-80 near the donner summit. drivers dealt with white out conditions so bad that stretches were closed. chains are now required on i-80 and route 50. people are urged to postpone driving until tuesday. but the snow lab said in the last seven days it is measured more than 7.5 feet of snow. these are astronomical numbers. spencer: incredible. you had the best description of other traffic conditions, no going. it is still snowing. wild. here is a look at the winter storm warning for the sierra. it is still in effect until tomorrow evening, tomorrow night. heavy snow continues to fall and we expect maybe an additional 1-3 feet. travel conditions are almost impossible.

back here we are getting a deluge of rain across the bay area. it has been this way all evening. these oranges and yellows indicate where the heaviest rain is. into san jose and beyond. it is going on and on. on the exclusive abc 7 storm impact scale this storm rates a number two. through the night and into tomorrow morning we expect light to moderate rain with an occasional downpour and there is still the possibility of an isolated thunderstorm with the system. it continues until 6:00 a.m. as a widespread storm and then it moves out of the bay area a little bit and by midmorning to midday we expect most of the storm to have moved out with just a few areas of widespread, scattered showers. overnight rainfall estimate into tomorrow afternoon, nearly a

developing news in new officials are investigating a close call at jfk airport friday night between an airplane approaching a runway and another preparing for a take off. there were no injuries and post -- and both flights eventually continued on their way but it could have been a major disaster. the abc news reporter has more. reporter: friday night if rented call from air traffic control at kennedy airport to get a delta airlines boeing 730 72 aboard its takeoff. >> cancel takeoff plans. reporter: the controller noticing an american airlines plane heading to london was crossing the same runway. >> we have a possible pilot deviation. reporter: the delta plane accelerating to 150 miles per hour down the runway forced to abruptly abort takeoff. the planes missing each other by just 1000 feet according to the faa.
