>> right now people are concerned about other trees coming down after this one fell and sent a man to the hospital with serious injuries. >> tonight j.r. stone has more from castro valley. this massive eucalyptus tree has been sitting in the middle of this castro valley home for a week and a half. the family living there which includes four kids, their parents are now homeless. the father who was hit by the tree and rescued still in the hospital right now. >> he was pinned under the tree. literally right under, luckily the couch and a wall behind it supported the tree, he was responsive the entire time so he could tell them i can breathe. i can hold on and they took their time to really figure it out and cut him out. >> heather gonzalez was inside us over the couple's four kids, the tree came down on their father who was sitting alone on the couch watching the raiders

and chiefs game. >> i felt the shake and i thought it was an earthquake and i said nobody move because aftershock and then one of our middle kids comes in and he is screaming daddy screaming and there debris everywhere and i see a huge trunk crossing my living room and it is when it dawns on me that a tree fell and it's massive. >> she says as the focus and concern outside of her partner working to walk is now on these other big trees. the ones bordering the kelly canyon creek, what is left of her home and many other houses. half a dozen neighbors living in homes near these trees told us no county or city officials have talked with them about possible removal. >> who is going to take care of this? we don't want a blind eye to be thrown to the situation. >> when it is a public nuisance that means this tree could fall

over, hit my house, hit the sidewalk hit the street. the street and sidewalk is owned by the county so of course it is a public nuisance. >> we reached out to alameda county public works about the issue but have not heard back. nearly 1000 people have signed a petition asking that the county act immediately. >> you should be safe at home and you can't stay home now because you're scared, nobody is helping. we need help. and they need to step up. >> the process to remove this tree will start up at 8 a.m. on wednesday but you can see the size of it, that is obviously going to take some time. in castro valley j.r. stone, abc7news. >> a massive mudslide stopped a train in its tracks today more than 200 passengers were stranded for hours. the a's train came up to the mudslide just after eight this morning near niles canyon after about four hours another train it came to rescue the stranded passengers who were then

announcement. >> some people think it is presumptuous to go forward with replacing someone who has served so long and is still there, it is stepping on toes and being disrespectful as some say. but california is a big state, there are other people lining up behind the scenes. >> porter could face challenges from local congress members by barbara lee and ro khanna, battle she says she would win on issues like climate change health care and affordable housing. >> solutions are there, we know what to do. do we have the will to get it done. >> porter spoke to hundreds of voters here and we wondered how her message resonated. >> she puts on a very good show, she was lively. i think she will do all right. >> with 22 months to go until the next election katie porter has a long road ahead of her in walnut creek tim johns abc7news. >> the golden state warriors had some politics of their own to attend to today sort of.

president biden and vice president harris invited the team and their families to the white house to celebrate their nba title. not only hailed as champs they were recognized for using their high profile to force positive change. golden state warriors head coach steve kerr and nb p -- m.v.p. steph curry led a championship celebration at the white house. as much as they spoke about their incredible m.v.p. title run at least spoke to americans about the issues they're facing. the coach sat in on a roundtable about gun violence with white house staff. >> we learned a lot about what this administration is doing to help create a safer environment in our country. something that is close to my heart. >> he is deeply passionate about the issue, his father was a victim of gun violence. curry used his opportunity in front of the white house press corps to thank the biden administration for securing the release of wnba start brittney

43 in oakland, 38 in santa clara. 46 at half moon bay. another lie view from the east bay hills camera, 39° in santa rosa. low 40's in novato napa fairfield and livermore. here is your view from the rooftop camera looking towards the bay bridge and these are our forecast features partly cloudy but level 1 light storm is coming in tomorrow evening. we can expect a dry and sunny pattern beginning thursday. overnight as the clouds move and it's going to be pretty chilly temperatures dropping into the low to mid 30's in parts of the north bay only mid 30's and upper 30's and the south bay and low 40's right around the bay shoreline and on the coast. tomorrow for high temperatures, as skies get cloudier mainly in the mid 50's that storm is going to start up north and sweep southward. let's take a look at the details on this storm which on the exclusive impact scale is a level one. a fast-moving system that will

swing through tomorrow evening bringing light rain and brief downpours, less than 4/10 of an inch of rain for most areas. forecast starting tonight clear skies and cloudier skies. pods get thicker tomorrow morning and then that storm, frontal system starts to sweep through the north bay around five or 6 p.m. tomorrow. it will move quickly out of the bay area by late tomorrow night and leave behind some rainfall. we expect totals to be anywhere from 2/10 of an inch to 4/10 of an inch generally. not a soaking storm but creating concerns for flooding. in the sierra a winter weather advisory will be in effect from 6 p.m. tomorrow to 4 a.m. thursday with another six to 12 inches of snow expected there and wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour. here's the seven-day forecast. once that light storm swings through tomorrow evening we can expect a string of sunny days and then drying out and recovering from all the storms we had. thursday, sunny skies all the way through next tuesday and then we don't see an end to that
