of america appears to wipe out people's money. later boy meets congress, the beloved child actor with big new ambitions. and no more sweets at the office. the new push to stop people from bringing cake and other treats into work to share with their colleagues. from news in new york. this is america this morning. good thursday morning, everyone i'm andrew denberg jockey in furry annan. we begin with the major winter storm expanding into more states right now. 50 million americans are in the storm's path. the system stretches from the gulf of mexico all the way to the canadian border. heavy rain and tornadoes have been the biggest threat in the south. at least one tornado already hit southern arkansas 100 mile per hour. wind gusts caused this damage in the town of waldo. meanwhile in the upper midwest, people from minneapolis to milwaukee can expect several inches of snow. roads already creating dangers travel near denver more than 20 vehicles

a podcast in 2021 santos said his mother's death was linked to debris from ground zero. my mom was a 9 11 survivor. she was in the south tower. um and she made it out. she got caught up in the ash cloud. my mom fought cancer. tell her death, but immigration documents obtained by alex caldera through a freedom of information act request and provided to abc news suggests santos's mother wasn't even in the united states on that day. jorge santos has essentially lied about every aspect of his life. he has essentially pretended. to be a biracial ukrainian, belgian brazilian volleyball champion of brain cancer survivor whose mother died twice, including on 9 11. the freshmen congressmen also under fire for allegations that he has ties to a ponzi scheme in florida faces charges of check fraud in brazil and even allegedly used a different name to set up a go fund me to raise $3000 for a veterans dying dog and then never handed over the

was being used. halls reportedly told investigators he didn't know there were any live rounds in the gun. there's no evidence that this was intense. this was clearly an accident, but. perhaps a criminal accident. just because something is an accident doesn't mean that a criminal act didn't occur. the district attorney said. additional live rounds were found on the set, but declined to say how many. the announcement on possible charges in this case is expected later this morning. but fell candidate for state office in new mexico accused of terrorizing democrats is being held without bond after his first court appearance, solomon pena is charged with hiring several men to open fire at the homes of four political rivals. prosecutors say he wanted the hitmen to aim lower and shoot around eight pm when the target's wouldn't be lying down yet. pena's an election denier who served prison time for burglary. the justice department has launched an investigation into the death of a memphis man after a traffic stop. memphis police say they

arrested tyree nichols on january 7th after he ran from the scene. they say he complained he couldn't breathe and took him to a hospital where he later died. his family says police beat him, causing a fatal heart attack. police have said they will release body camera video when they finish their investigation, and they say they're fully cooperating with the justice department's investigation. police in san francisco ever arrested the owner of an art gallery scene on this viral video using a hose to spray down a homeless woman. she was reported, reportedly refusing to move from the sidewalk outside. his gallery is now being charged with misdemeanor battery. and president biden will be in california today to see the damage from recent storms that triggered flooding and mudslides . he'll meet with the residents of the central coast and first responders. the white house overnight announced more federal aid to help with recovery efforts. now for a look at your thursday weather. after more than a foot of snow in central nebraska, this storm

friday night on abc. authorities in southern california are searching for british actor julian sands he's been missing since friday after going for a hike in the mount baldy area outside of los angeles. the search is complicated by the risk of avalanches right now, sands has appeared in dozens of movies and tv shows, including a room with a view leaving las vegas and warlock. now to the murder of those four college students in idaho. investigators are now revealing the items they say we're taking it from suspected killer brian co. berger's apartment after his arrest. this morning, newly unsealed search warrants, show boxes and bags of potentially crucial evidence collected brian co burgers home, including mattress covers and a pillow with a reddish brown stain, possible strands of hair and a disposable black glove. the 28 year old criminal justice student is charged with four counts of murder for the deaths of madison mogul caylee gonzalez , zanna, corn, adele and ethan shape in. he has not yet entered

a plea warrants reveal. police were looking for any evidence of the victims in co burgers, belongings or evidence linking him to caylee gonsalves dog seen in these tiktok videos was found alone after the murders. we have not determined if the dog was inside the residents during the murders or not. what we do know is that the dog was inside when officers arrived in the affidavit for his arrest. police say they found dna tying co burger to the crime scene and now a former neighbor tells the idaho statesman co. burger recently used the dna kid to learn his ancestry which could shed light on how police zeroed in on him. now also among the evidence seized from co burgers apartment was part of a vacuum and a computer. his next court hearing scheduled in june, promising vaccine under development for hiv has failed in a late stage trial. johnson and johnson says testing showed it was ineffective. it was the only hiv vaccine in a late stage trial, researchers say that sets them back about 3 to 5 years and

more a scary day for some bank of america customers wednesday they check their accounts and found their money gone missing $1400 from my account, and they're telling me that there is no way they can help us. you made some money to there you go. it was a nationwide issue text alert, and it says my account is overdrawn. one customer tweeted their balance of negative $2000. most complaints involved the payment transfer service. zell i did see that what was causing my negative balance was that transfer that i had at one time seen in my account and had received notification. it just disappeared. went to see my bank account. and then i saw there's $100 less zealous owned by bank of america and six other banks. it issued a statement saying. we understand that as l network financial institution may have experienced issues processing some of their customers, l transactions which has now been
