and move so it wasn't contained to just one area inside. we don't know that there's any other victims. a lot of people were running out so there could be more out there. intense moments. indeed, police eventually shot and killed the suspect. there was no immediate word on a possible motive for the shooting. now onto the weather. snow is slamming parts of new england. it's the tail end of a storm that swept across the country now making for a messy morning commute. this morning. millions of americans remain under winter storm alerts from the midwest to maine to o'clock in the morning. we are all getting steady snow at that point, and we're going to wake up to several inches of snow on the ground. this will likely slow down the morning commuter, freezing rain and heavy snow is expected for the northeast today. while overnight forecasters warned of 60 mile per hour wind gusts in cleveland as storms moved across the ohio valley. strong winds blew this carport into a house in arora,

indiana, and in michigan, a woman's college basketball team work together off the court, pushing their own bus out of the snow bank. hi snowfall in minneapolis pushed the twin cities over their seasonal average for snow with two months left until winter officially ends everywhere. meanwhile president biden spent yesterday in california surveying damage from multiple storms, the president linking the damage from mudslides and floods to climate change if anybody doubts climate is changing. and they must have been asleep for the last couple of years. the rain in deep snow in the rocky mountains have brought temporary relief to the drought stricken west. but experts say it will take several seasons like this season to eliminate the drought in the colorado river basin, which includes reservoirs, lake mead and lake powell, providing water to people in seven states. meanwhile up to eight inches of snow could fall in parts of new

england will check your forecast in just a few minutes. now to the case against alec baldwin, facing manslaughter charges for the deadly shooting on the set of his movie rust, legal analysts say if this case goes to trial, prosecutors face an uphill battle. the felony criminal charges prosecutors are pursuing against alec baldwin could result in the actor spending five years in prison if he's convicted, but experts describe the potential trial as a difficult one for the prosecution. alec baldwin and the armorer here, hannah gutierrez read, have had the book thrown at them. the district attorney in new mexico , says baldwin and the films are more hannah gutierrez read each face two counts of involuntary manslaughter for the deadly shooting on the set of rust. baldwin's prop gun somehow fired a live bullet killing cinematographer helena hutchins and wounding the movie's director. they were not doing the things that they should have been doing in order to have a safety conscious and certainly with guns. a gun conscious movie set. one of the involuntary

manslaughter charges carries a penalty of anything from no jail time to 18 months. but prosecutors added what's called a firearm enhancement to the second charge. the prosecutors could have said, we're just going to pursue an involuntary manslaughter charge here. but instead they've said that's one possible charge and another one that a jury could consider. would be an involuntary manslaughter count. which involves more than just negligence and we're going to throw in a what's called a firearm enhancement. the question here is our prosecutors throwing the kitchen sink at baldwin and gutierrez read in an effort to get them to plead. court documents show, gutierrez read and assistant director dave halls handled the gun before baldwin investigators say halls who struck a plea deal said cold gun on the set, meaning no live rounds were being used. in an interview with george stephanopoulos, baldwin insisted he did not pull the trigger. you

never pulled the trigger. ono fbi report found the gun could not have fired without pulling the trigger. in a new statement , baldwin's lawyer says mr baldwin had no reason to believe there was a live bullet in the gun or anywhere on the movie set . he relied on the professionals with whom he worked, who assured him the gun did not have live rounds. we will fight these charges and we will win. a lawyer for gutierrez read called the investigation flawed, saying these charges are the result of a very flawed investigation and an inaccurate understanding of the full facts. the district attorney says a magistrate judge will now determine if there's enough evidence to move toward a trial. regular life. anyone who fires a weapon is responsible. for what happens, question is going to be if you're an actor in pretend life. are you also responsible? authorities say six live rounds were found on the set. they have not determined how they got there. the parents

of the six year old who police say shot and wounded his first grade teacher in virginia are breaking their silence. they say their son suffers from an acute disability, and they previously attended school with him for the shooting happened during the first week. they left them alone . they insist the gun that he used was secured at their home, but it's unclear how he got access to it. let's turn now to washington, where president biden is addressing the scandal surrounding his handling of classified documents, he says. there's no their a b. c s. j. o brien is here with more j. good morning. andrew good morning, the president appears confident that there was no serious wrongdoing in this case in three separate searches, beginning back in november, president biden's lawyers found classified documents at his delaware home and his former office in washington, but basic questions still remain unanswered here, including why did the white house not disclose these documents sooner? what's the nature of the documents? what's in them? even the total number of documents remains unclear.
