cooperating with the investigation. >> the scene of the first shooting at a mushroom farm on highway 92. the second scene at a mushroom farm on highway one. deputies were called to the first shooting scene at 222. they found four people dead and one critically injured. shortly after they found three people shot to death at nearby concord farms. the search was on. at 4:40 deputies found him sitting in his car in the parking lot of the sheriff's substation. they say they found a gun in his car. >> our abc seven news crew was there at that very moment watching as the gunman was taken into custody by law enforcement. the suspect was sitting in a maroon suv and ordered out of the car and pulled to the ground, cuffed and arrested. j.r. stone was there to see at

a man he has known for more than 13 years. he came to meet the victims family but too emotional to discuss anymore. -- a man he has known for more than 30 years. they say the community is still struggling with the aftermath of january's rain and flooding but adds he feels more safe knowing the suspect was arrested. >> you hear about this on the news all the time but when it comes home to you like this in a small town it really does bring it home. it is deplorable. >> saw all the sirens going one way and spend the other way. we were like what is happening? that was really terrifying. >> sarah is another local resident who came to the shelter to help out the families. she is also happy the suspect was arrested but wants answers. >> i am happy he is alive so hopefully we get some answers. i don't know how open this person is to talking and

first scene, a short six minute drive. investigators are still hard at work but when we got to the scene at around 5:00 we connected with family members desperate for answers. >> i am not concerned about anything else just hoping to see him come out because i really do not want to -- yeah. >> carlos speaking with us around 5:00 monday afternoon about his uncle working at the mushroom farm along cabrillo highway where three people were shot and killed hours earlier. throughout the evening they arrived at the location attempting to piece together what answers they could. >> i dad got a call -- my dad got a call saying this mushroom farm got shot up by someone or something and he basically left us, drove over here. he did not explain what was going on. we are worried right now because he is not answering his calls

and they are not letting anyone go in or out. they are not telling us who the deceased are because they know there are three people. >> at 7:00 p.m. he says workers from the farm confirmed to the family his uncle was one of the family shot and killed at the scene. a location busy with the office investigators, even the fbi monday night. >> martinez is uncle who was known to coworkers as parton. -- martin. the family did not want to comment more on the subject as there -- they are still sorting through everything that happened. >> thank you so much. just minutes ago abc news received a statement from the principal at concord farms. he says in part quote with the

one person is dead and seven injured. they are investigating the shooting at a valero gas station on macarthur boulevard after 6:00 tonight. officers found several shell casings there. the department was notified of multiple gunshot victims. they self transported to several area hospitals. >> there have been at least 38 mass shootings as of today. they defined a mass shooting as one with four or killed not including the perpetrator. there were 690 one mass shootings in 2021. 647 and 2022 and 38 that is more than the number of calendar days we have had this year. the mass shootings of today and this weekend and monterey park are reminders of the painful toll of gun violence whether you have lost a loved one, have been a victim yourself or are feeling

next to the police take down. deputies arrested the 67-year-old man suspected of killing seven people and physically injuring another at two half moon bay farm locations today. >> our reporter j.r. stone was at the sheriff office substation when it happened. >> we are still thinking about what went down earlier. what a scene it was in the parking lot that is still roped off. i had just been in the community center building and was walking back to the area behind me. as i got closer to the direct parking lot, i could hear yelling and here get out of the vehicle, get your hands up. at that point i saw two deputies with guns drawn. a short time later i saw a third deputy with guns drawn and they were ordering that suspect out of the vehicle. i looked down to see where my photographer was.

he was in it that direct area. he was around 10 feet away recording the whole thing and this is what he recorded during that moment. quite a moment it was as they were arresting the 67-year-old. he was arrested in connection to the shooting deaths of at least seven people. the sheriffs believe he acted alone and there is no further threat to the community. i talked to a witness out here who watched all this go down. she had parked her vehicle right next to where the suspect parked his vehicle. she was coming back to her car as this was going down and signaling to deputies who signaled to her to go the other way and she did go the other way. they took him into custody. j.r. stone, abc7news. >> incredible, thank you so much. we are glad no one else was
