he set another friend of his witnessed at least two people being shot in the gunman spared that other friend. this takedown, a 66-year-old mass shooting suspect, we are learning new details about what is believed to have happen. >> all the evidence we have points to this being the instance of workplace violence. quakes details of how the shootings may have played out starting to come to light. quakes the witnesses have shared with us that h he knew exactly who he was going after. and face. quakes seven people were killed and one person was injured at two locations including mountain mushroom farm where he worked as a forklift driver in concord

farms. all of the victims were of hispanic and asian dissent. the mexican consulate confirms that three of the victims are from mexico and two of them were shot and killed. the third now recovering in the hospital. q■uakes are someof thesevictims were members of our migrant community, this represents a unique challenge when it comes to notifications and identifications of next of kin. quakes even with the challenges, news of the killings has spread fast to some like maria, who lost her friend josé. talked with me all the time. my other friend, he died too. and i know him for 15 years. >> the governor, who is just a monterey park addressing the mass shooting there, making a second stuff -- stop in half moon bay to address this mass shooting as he demanded action on gun laws.

the courts. santa clara county records show that he has a history of making workplace threats. in 2013 a roommate who he worked with got a restraining order. the remake claimed he had been fired and threatened to kill the roommate if he didn't get him his job back. he also says he once tried to suffocate him with a pillow. >> evermore mike -- a memorial is growing in half moon bay to remember the victims. people have been dropping off flowers and lighting candles. there are new witness accounts and word from a family of a man who was killed. abc7news reporter joins us live from downtown half moon bay. where the city has set up a memorial. there was no vigil held here tonight. according to city officials they say friends and fam s of those impacted by yesterday's shooting are simply not ready.

in the heart of moon bay, a growing memorial in the message as a community is grieving. following monday's deadly shooting at two mushroom farms. the family of marciano martinez is sharing details about their loved one killed at concord farms. the victim' him as a good person and a good coworker who was an admired supervisor, saying the loss has left the family broken. chilling stories have come to light about the violent suffered and witnessed by families and children who were out the scenes. this man, a witness, describes having heard everything, saying he was doing maintenance work with two people who were eventual vic don's. >> two people shared with that they have to hide in the porter probably to get away from the shooter. >> the vice mayor serves as a half moon bay farmworker program director. before t mes is team spent monday

morning bringing goods to the mountain mushroom farm site. items needed for farmworkers. after the devastating storms passed through a week earlier. hours later, word of a shooting. he said he called the farmworker friend who did not answer. and then tried another. >> i asked, how are you, are you ok, i heard something happen. he said, yes, there was a shooting and two people are dead. >> seven people between mountain mushroom farm and concord farms. five men and two women. a survivor remains in the hospital. the community only beginning the healing process. >> i needed to connect community around this. this is not supposed to happen here. i will say it like everyone else.

>> by the memorial. most in search of a vigil. city officials say they are planning a vigil in the days to come. in half moon bay, abc7news. >> thank you. following the mass shooting in half moon bay, local and state lawmakers are once again calling for new gun reform measures. our reporter has been following the latest of elements on that front and joins us live from the newsroom. but many out there are saying lawmakers can only do so much. >> california already has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation, and the firearm use at half moon bay was purchased illegally. that hasn't stopped the growing calls for more measures to be taken, not just at a state, but a national level. with more mass shootings than days and 20, the chorus for gun reform is growing ever louder following the tragedy at half moon bay. both from state leaders.

>> what the hell is wrong with us that we allow the weapons of war and large capacity clips out in the streets and sidewalks. >> as well as local politicians. >> we have to have strict restrictions on who can own guns. >> one is the state's simile men has long called on -- to set an example for the rest of the nation. >> we should have much tighter licensing restriction. we should really focus on making sure that it's banned across country. quick spot california has the strictest gun laws in the u.s., it's much easier to obtain a firearm here than any other country. >> if you compare california to any other nation in the western industrialized world. japan, south korea, england, france, we have some of the loosest, most permissive gun laws in the world. lexi is a professor at ucla law has written extensively about guns in america. he says individual states can only do so much even the patchwork of firearm laws across

the nation. he believes that in order for real change to occur, laws need to shift on a nationwide level. given the divided congress in a conservative majority on the supreme court. >> the supreme court has expanded second amendment protections in the past year, and some of california's most aggressive gun safety reforms are likely to be called into question in the coming years. >> despite the tough road ahead, he says no other option remains. he wants to buy -- once the violence to stop once and for all. like sino people talk about civil rights, they never thought we would ever had -- and an end to segregation, we need to make sure this happens for our country to be safe. >> despite it being far worse, california's per capita rate for gun related deaths remains one of the lowest in the u.s. for 2020 was 38 percent lower than the national average. >>

stolen in san francisco. eight dogs were inside when thieves took the van today at piedmont street and ashbury heights. i suppose one of the animals was a guard dog was taken. the owner of the van contacted abc7news. we had nothing to do with it, but we are happy to report a short time later the van was found in the castro with all the dogs safe inside. >> what a relief. just days before the san francisco 49ers plane the nfc championship game, one of their defensive lineman has been arrested. san jose police say charles is accused of misdemeanor domestic violence. his girlfriend alleges he pushed her to the ground during an argument monday afternoon. police say the woman did not have visible injuries. the santa clara county district attorney's office will decide whether to press charges. >> ticketmaster's office is apologizing to taylor swift. top executives were on capitol hill today. you may remember ticketmaster was unable to handle ticket

demand for her latest tour. furious fans complain because many of them can access available tickets, even with a presale code. the president of live nation blamed the issue on bots. >> one person is dead after gunfire broke out during a music video shoot in oakland. it happened last night at a valero station on macarthur boulevard at seminary avenue. oakland police say 40, maybe 50 people were there when bullets are flying in every direction. police say the 18-year-old was killed. four others were hurt in three more were hurt in a car crash connected to the shooting. investigators believe this was gang-related, and they fear there could be more bloodshed. >> the biggest threat to us right now as retaliatory shootings. the groups going back and forth we continue to see violence that will stem from this particular incidents. >> police and city leaders say they are doing all they can to stop the violence but can't do it without the community's health -- help.

supporters of oakland's police chief held a big rally today to call for his immediate reinstatement. >> when do we want it? we want it now, now, now, now. ask the end held a rally. armstrong is on a ministry of levon claims he failed to take action on department investigation period he said he will keep fighting until he's allowed back on the force. >> to work to get to this and have it taken away from you hurt. it doesn't just hurt me, it hurts my community because every day i come into this job to try to make oakland black. i'm from west oakland. i will pick a fight, but i'm not running from nothing. >> the chief has said the federal monitor overseeing the department created a crisis to keep federal monitoring in place. armstrong supporters are calling for an outside investigation in connection to that claim. >> former vice president mike

pence is now under investigation by the department of justice after classified documents were found at his indiana home. they were discovered last week i lawyers that were asked to review records stored in his home. abc news reports they found a small number of documents aixa potentially obtain sensitive or classified information. records show the former vp has since turned the documents over to the fbi. a rare fox has been start -- spot in the southern sierra for the first time in nearly a hundred years. a sierra nevada red fox was spotted four times in the last year on the eastern edge of sequoia and kings canyon national park. the fox is an endangered species and was thought to no longer exist in the sierra range until some of them were spotted in sonora in 2010. this one was seen about 100 miles south of that area. >> that's great to see. >> love it. >> let's turn our attention to the midweek forecast. spencer: i'm going to start with

a look at this big high-pressure system, the dominant feature bringing us clear and calm days. because i want to show you this in contrast to the where we could be. if you are in this part of the country from the northeast, you'd be under watches and warnings from winter storm to dallas and st. louis to chicago to new york, to québec. so it's cold and snowy there, but we have nice,, almost pre-springlike conditions back here in the bay area. as take a look at what's happening. here's a live view from our central tower camera over san francisco where it's currently 52 degrees. we have low to mid 40's. now off to fortier at san jose and half moon bay. 16 degrees at south lake tahoe. that's pretty cool. looking across the bay from the east bay oaks camera. 40 degrees in santa rosa. low 40's that the navarro, napa, fairfield. and from the rooftop. looking towards the bay bridge. he also presented a view of the

forecast headlines are mostly clear overnight. chili in the inland valleys. warmer than average the next few days but it will be cloudy and cooler this weekend. overnight under clear skies, we will see low temperatures dropping mainly into the mid 30's, in mid to upper 30's and the north bay, maine the upper 30's and the inland east bay. upper 30's to 40 down to south bay and right around the bay shoreline and we will see highs. we will see lows in the lower 40's as well as on the coast line. highs tomorrow under sunny skies will range from 60 and half moon bay to 61 san francisco. 62 in most locations around the bay shoreline. up in the north bay we get our warmest level with highs and 68 in santa rosa and 64 napa. on the long -- long torn forecast on thursday shows increasing clouds going in friday and into saturday. char activity will come in early sunday morning, light rain through the day on sunday into early monday before it tapers off. here the accuweather 7-day
