the two men lived in trailers on site and had ongoing tension. the july shooting and monday's shooting involved to different people and different circumstances, keep in mind. today we are learning more about the details of living conditions. >> abc 7 news or porter lewis peña spoke to someone where the shooting took place. the conditions are deplorable. >> from the air the living conditions of the mushroom farm off highway 92 look room with multiple trailers and mobile homes and a makeshift community. up close supervisor rita moeller says it is worse. >> it's basically a storage shed. >> why did you find? >> horrible conditions. basically what looked like sheds, storage containers people were living in. no insulation, no running water know where where you would ever want to prepare food. >> the supervisor inspected the

farm and confirmed the county will have two -- every unit. governor newsom said he was told about deplorable working conditions at the shooting site. now his office is investigating, but the company that owns the farm said the governor's comments are inaccurate and although homes are equipped with kitchens, bathrooms and shower facilities in addition to standard living amenities. according to the mushroom farm steam, eight families lived on the property, paid about $300 a month. they confirmed workers farm is not in operation at this time. >> they had porta potty's for restrooms. they lived in trailers that were similar to camper style. it was muddy. rodents. having to cook outside. >> california garden has owned the mushroom farm since 2022 and

since the state inspected the mobile homes. half moon bay's vice has been to the facility multiple times and says the issue is widespread. >> there are other farms that have the same thing. >> in a station cal they are looking into workplace safety and health violations for the worksites in half moon bay where the mass shootings took place. there is concern on wages. the mushroom farm says they pay workers $24 an hour. they worked at the mushroom farm four weeks ago under a different ownership. she said she was paid $11 an hour. did they offer health insurance? of that. the county is considering further action. >> we will declare a state of emergency. that is what i am hoping for. >> in half moon bay, abc 7

news. >> five of seven farmworkers killed in the shooting were chinese and tonight several asian pacific islander community groups are launching a gofundme page to help the families of all of the victims. abc seven news reporter suzanne fonda has that story. >> it has been a struggle to learn more about the chinese workers killed in half moon bay. >> we're are just learning about the names. we knew that one of the things that was difficult was finding next of kin, because of the fact that they are migrant workforce. >> five of the workers were chinese. the oldest was 73, the youngest, 43. cynthia is with chinese for affirmative action. they plan to meet city and county authorities to help the asian farmworkers. caa and other community groups set up a gofundme page. >> these are individuals who are traumatized, in shock.

they have been displaced from their homes. >> we don't know anything about the employees, how long they have been at the farm or where their families live. >> that raises additional questions. we don't know what the immigration status is of the folks involved people feeling vulnerable. >> some argue it is rare to have chinese workers in the agricultural industry. we checked with farmworker justice and according to the u.s. department of labor california has as many as 800,000 farmworkers and less than 1% reported they were of asian descent. they say the u.s. has a history of asian farmworkers. >> in california this is an invisible population. and when we think of farmworkers, very rarely do people think of asian farmworkers or farmworkers of asian descent. >> eight api community groups say it is going to take work to help people heal. >> organization of

crews finish repairs. this is not related to the sinkhole on 92 near skyline boulevard. drivers can get by in both directions but it will take time for crews to repair the road as you can see. on monday we will learn when the oakland zoo plans to reopen. it closed on new year's day after a sinkhole opened out on the main road out front. they could not do business that way. a recent stor damage but they made a difference in our drought. the new map came out today. on the right what our drought situation was a month ago. the state is totally out of the worst two levels of drought now with shades of red locating exceptional drought. the majority of california is now classified as moderate drought. very encouraging. the state department of water resources announced it is increasing the allocation from 5% to 30% to agencies that lie

money from the pg and e bankruptcy settlement. he received 45% of his determination and recently found out he will receive an additional 15%, bringing him to 60% as of january 31. the victim trust says the increase was made possible by the sales of 190 million shares of stock since october of last year. >> it's great if we get it. >> according to claims put out by the trust as of january 13 approximately 34% of claimants have not received 45% payments. the trust says as january 12 it has issued determination notices to 91% of all claimants. less than 1% of all claims have been appealed. those who have not been paid yet, the trust attributes the problem to what it is calling overhang. those who have received a determination but have not accepted their determination. a spokesperson for the victim trust says 22% of claimants
