a public vigil on main street across from city hall to honor the seven lives lost earlier this week. prior to the gathering, the san francisco archbishop will visit the two shooting sites for prayer and a blessing. dozens gathered last night in san francisco's chinatown to mourn those killed in monterey park and half moon bay. one of the organizers said the shootings, which are rare in the asian community, have shaken it to its core and come at a time of heightened anxiety. >> the trauma in our community i think has come to a boiling point for some of these individuals. we have been through years of anti-asian hates, senseless violence. kumasi: these events are giving people a chance to grieve and bring vulnerability to the topic of mental health and the api community. the event starts at 5:00 p.m. this evening. reggie: california terra gardens, known as mountain

mushroom farm, was the side of another shooting in july. san mateo road district attorney says the victim and suspect were managers at the half moon bay farm. they lived in trailers there and had ongoing work-related tension. the das office is the victim was no home, when he heard the suspect threatening to kill him and his family and threatened to fire a gun. they arrested the suspect. they said he smelled of alcohol and denied the shooting. that july shooting and the recent mass shooting this week involved different people and different circumstances. what they may have had in common was tension between employees at the farm. an official motive and the most recent shooting has not been given. however, investigators say the suspect was allegedly taunted with an offensive nickname may have fueled his anger. kumasi: deplorable, how is san mateo county supervisor described conditions workers were living in at the mushroom farm at half moon bay.

you can see multiple trailers and homes on the property. tara garden has owned the mushroom farm since 2022 and says the state inspected the mobile homes. according to the farm's team, eight families lived on the property, paying $300 a month. they inspected the property and confirmed that they will have to read tag every unit. >> horrible, horrific, deplorable conditions. we saw basically what looked like sheds, storage containers that people were living in. no insulation, running water, nor anywhere you would want to prepare food. no one is going to go back to live there. we will declare a state of emergency. that is what i am hoping for actually. kumasi: on tuesday, governor newsom said he was told about the farms. the company who owns the farm says the comments are inaccurate and homes are equipped with kitchens, bathrooms and shower facilities and addition to standard living facilities.

warriors championship celebration. you see him in a black cat on the left talking to draymond green. kumasi: cities across the nation are preparing for protests as the country prepares for the release of what is expected to be graphic video showing the beating and arrest of terry nichols. -- tyre n five former police officers have been charged with murder and four were released from police custody overnight. jobina has mourn with the family is saying. jobina: schools and memphis have been canceled today ahead of the video release. the nichols family says it shows officers beating tyre for three minutes in an assault that their lawyers like into the infamous 1991 attack on rodney king. during a vigil fortyre last night, his mother said she could not bear to watch the video, but she has heard it is "going to be horrific." she has also called for protests to remain peaceful. >> i do not want us burning up our cities, tearing up the

horizon. gloria rodríguez is in the newsroom with what we could see in the future. gloria: ridership is increasing but not fast enough. 150,000 are writing daily, compared to 140,000 pre-pandemic. that is a problem considering 70% of their operating budget has historically come from affairs. the board of directors is getting real about its financial future. bart received $1.6 billion in federal aid to sustain service, but the funding is expected to run out by 2025. if that happens, the transit agency critics potential consequences, such as fewer trains, stations opening later and closing earlier, station closers, line shutdowns, and no weekend service, mass layoffs, and no bart service at all. abc 7 asking if that is a real possibility or just a scare tactic. >> it is a very real possibility

when the federal emergency funds run out and there is no more money and people are still working from home that drastic service cuts will happen. * bart plans -- gloria: plans to ask governor proposed slashing the budget for public transit. bart may take the issue to the voters as a transportation measure. kumasi: thank you. there are growing calls for oakland's police chief to be reinstated immediately. the chief was put on administrative leave last week after a report raised questions about his handling of misconduct cases, but armstrong says the federal monitor overseeing the department created a drama to extend monitoring that was supposed to end later this year. during the police commission meeting last night, embers did not publicly address it but went into a closed session for over two hours, but the public had plenty to say. >> we wanted to have a

police chief and people are trying to throw him under the bus. >> i am calling to support chief armstrong because he has made a huge difference. kumasi: the commission scheduled a special session for next thursday. reggie: new at 6:00, travelers on the way to cancún are being warned about services likethe uo mexico issued a security advisory, saying the tension between local taxi unions and uber drivers is intensifying and disputes between drivers have returned violent and resulted in u.s. citizens being hurt. a court hearing determined uber drivers could operate without a medallion, which is required of taxi drivers. kumasi: if you stayed in a las vegas hotel the past few years, you may have been ripped off, the accusation in a new lawsuit claiming caesars entertainment, mgm, treasure island, wynn and

other hotels artificially inflated prices since 2019. the lawsuit claims they used ai technology to illegally fix prices. according to the las vegas review journal, average daily rates hit record highs in 2022. some hotels declined to comment on the lawsuit and others say the claims are meritless. reggie: in egypt, dozens of n archaeological discoveries were unveiled, including two ancient tombs. big fines include statues, amulets, and a well preserved sarcophagus. some are 4300 years old. inside was the mommy of a man covered in layers of gold, possibly the oldest of are in the country. all the new items were unearthed during a year of excavation found beneath an ancient stone enclosure. they are dated back to the fifth and six dynasties of the old kingdom, which spanned from 2500 bc to 2100 bc. drew: wow.

ok, looks like we but hopefully we get him back soon. let's check in with reggie. reggie: ok, thank you. this morning, the country is bracing for the release of video showing the eating of tyre nickels. the memphis police chief talked about it on "gma." >> what was your reaction when you first saw the video? >> in my 36 years would have to say i don't think i have ever been more horrified and disgusted, sad, you know, and to some degree confused. reggie: chief cj davis calle into question the reason behind the traffic stop that preceded the beating. she said she was not able to verify any reckless driving accusations while combing through surveillance video on the day he was arrested. officials expect protests to break out across the country once the video was made public.

in the bay area, a justice for tyre nichols's planned for 5:00 p.m. in san francisco. murder charges have been filed against the former officers involved. jobina: all officers have been charged with second-degree murder. in tennessee, second-degree murder is defined as "a knowing kyl," i considered a class a felony, meaning they could spend 15 to 16 years in prison. four of the officers have been released. the other charges are aggravated assault, two charges of aggravated kidnapping, two charges of official misconduct, and one charge of official oppression. the attorney for tyre nichols' family watch the body camera footage and describes what he saw. >> it wasan mma fight, but only one side was mma. tyre was helpless, defenseless, and restrained. and that is why you are seeing the types of charges you are seeing here. jobina: another attorney for the

shower chance, but let's check in with jobina and see this major commuter alert. jobina: good morning. the newest information we have is if you are traveling from san francisco into the east bay, you can get as far as west oakland and then the trains turn around. there is some major disruption within the transbay tower two. because of emergency repair work. ac transit is providing bus service on bus nl from 19th street and broadway from uptown oakland. due to the emergency track work, you are looking at systemwide delays. there is no green or red line service right now. bart is asking if you are not already on a bart train, to please consider alternate forms of transportation. which brings me to cars at the bay bridge toll plaza. westbound will be the heaviest. 22 minutes across the bridge, once you make it through the metering lights. if you would like to try the

reggie: breaking news involving bart. jobina has been updating us. systemwide delays because of emergency track repairs. bart is suspending trans bay service until they can fix the problem. lena howland is at a station. what is happening there? lena: we are at the end barker dare a bart station in san francisco, where moments ago trains started going into the transbay tube once again behind us here, and that is because of the latest update from officials telling us trains can now go through the tube once again, but they are being forced to turn around and oakland.

they can only go as far as oakland, meaning this is causing a major disruption for commuters in the east bay. they are not able to get into the city. i will step out of the shot to show you what we are seeing, which is not a lot of action here at the embarcadero b station. from the san francisco side, trains from the yellow, blue and orange line will get you to various stations in oakland but will then need to turn back from the san francisco side. trains go as far as the west oakland station only. this is a major disruption for the entire bay area happening before peak commute time, as many people depend on the transit service to get into the city for work. more information we have learned from bart, they are telling us it is because bart workers are making emergency repairs in downtown oakland. there was about a 10 foot to 20 foot section of track damaged by a transit vehicle during

overnight maintenance hours. they see the transit vehicle needs to be repaired, but they need special equipment to repair the damage, meaning this will likely take a bit of time. that is why bart officials are telling commuters to make alternative plans to commute into the city for work if you need to come into work this friday morning because of this major disruption. you can go to their website on bart.gov or head over to their app to get a little more information on alternate methods to get into the city for work. we will continue to stay out here. this is a developing and fluid situation. we will continue to stay on this as developments continue. lena howland, abc 7 news. kumasi: cvs and w pharmacy hours and march as tickets new to struggle with staffing shortages. cvs is expected to cut or shift
