the incident and difficult to watch. besides the body camera footage, surveillance video captured the kicks, punches, and baton strikes. five officers involved have already been fired and faced several charges. it took 22 minutes for an ambulance to arrive after the officers announced he was in custody. there have been numerous protests in response including some in the bay area. tim johns reports from san francisco. protests sweeping the country following the release of video showing the final moments of tyre nichols life. from the hometown of memphis to the streets of san francisco. many protesters with the same chant -- >> the racist police. >> following the release of the footage, his parents out down, his family -- >> this justifies our son was no threat to them. >> this once again sparks debate

downtown half moon bay friday, several hundred people gathered for a vigil at the plaza to honor this -- the seven kyl this week. many admitting in the aftermath every detail released has been eye-opening. >> it is so sad that it takes a tragedy like lost lives what is in the community around us. >> this resident and others say they have -- had no idea about the farmers living conditions and less than livable wages paid. this unknown reality only compounding the community pain. >> it's hard to see that here where we had such affluence and wealth that there is people living less than a mile away with very little in terrible conditions. >> how anyone could let someone who worked for them live like that i do not understand it. >> then mayor spoke with reporters ahead of the vigil. sharing she was unaware chinese migrants were part of the local

farming community. among the victims killed, two were latino and five were chinese. >> to be honest, i lived here for two and a years and did not realize there is a chinese immigrant community here. i did not realize there are so many people living really -- if you look at the tv reports, the conditions are really bad. i hope this gets improved. >> but where there is shock and sadness, there is new found inspiration to get involved for a better future or farmworkers. addressing the crowd friday. a man who is one is recovering on the other did not survive. >> [speaking spanish] >> now i'm very sad and i feel much pain. amanda: i'm amanda del castillo you, abc7news. liz:herchbishop of the archdiocese of san francisco visited both sites yesterday in

half moon bay. the service was held for the seven lives lost in monday's mass shooting. the archbishop prayed with loved ones of the victims at both locations. community members also joined in, offering moral and financial support to the families. some family members held up pictures and showed emotional words for the victims. the archbishop told abc7news the service provided light during what has been a dark time. >> to see us coming together and in love and unity in the midst of this deep darkness is a little light of hope. >> friday's service was one of several public vigils held for community members to on their lives lost in the tragedy. so many have asked how they can pitch in to support the grieving town of half moon bay. considered owning two alas, a nonprofit supporting the farmworker community since 2006 and set up a fund. you can go to the website, abc7news.com/takeaction for a

visibility in the north bay, half-mile santa rosa, so we are looking at a very foggy start, mountain view a mile visibility. good morning walnut creek, 36. it is cold and will get colder into your sunday night and into monday morning and even tuesday morning. 37 novato, cold and foggy with 40's closer to the bay and we have the gray sky in the south bay. there is salesforce and low cloud deck so sort of like a summer type scenario with the morning fog, onshore flow getting the sunshine in the afternoon, then spotty showers arriving through your sunday, cold mornings, talking below freezing as we get into monday and tuesday, than the cool afternoons. today with sunshine, the fog will begin to lift at 10:00 11:00 and the winds will be a factor, first at the coast. 30 to 38 miles per hour, later on in the day, then filling in across the bay throughout the
