lisa: it is out. it's chilly out there. looking at dropping temperatures in the national weather service has highlighted the freeze warning in the valley through tomorrow morning and a frost advisory that goes into effect midnight tomorrow night to 9:00. when san francisco is expecting frost, the coastal communities will be cold. three quarter of a mile visibility right now. we are looking at some patchy fog with milder temperatures. 48 in fremont. two degrees to 10 degrees warmer this morning in the wind is already kicking up to the 38 mile per hour range. clouds are overtaking the skies without partly partly cloudy conditions for some of us but rain showers are coming into play. we will plot them out for you and talk totals in a few minutes. liz? liz: thank you. the country to still talking

about the brutal beating and death of tyre nichols at the hands of police officers friday protests remain peaceful. tara campbell spoke to one of the organizers of an event planned for today in san francisco. >> across the nation, walk -- marching in wake of the release of the memphis policeman bodycam footage. sunday, they are taking to the streets of oakland. >> we are looking at some of the older days protests. i think we are expecting several thousand folks on the street. >> cap brooks is the director of the anti-police terror project and says people are fed up. >> i know that people are tired. but the white folks were allies say it's too much. it's too much. it's got to stop. >> tomorrow afternoon at third baptist church at 3:00 sharp there will be a gathering of persons from all walks of life in order that we might express

our peaceful protest. >> reverend amos brown is the leader of the naacp in san francisco and says they will be playing for the family of nichols. praying for change. >> the issue is not about black officers. it's about the culture in the police departments of this nation. >> cap brooks has been working for change for a long time. i asked her what keeps her hopeful. how do you keep going? >> i can't call it hope. i actually don't know that i believe that things in this country are going to change for black people. >> she may not call it hope. but she is not calling it quits, either. >> to be perfectly honest with you, i'm so tired of marching. but i have to keep going. what drives me is a deep love for my people.

>> tara campbell, abc 7 news. liz: there will also be a candlelight vigil for tyre nichols at regency skate park tomorrow. he was from sacramento originally but moved to memphis a couple of years ago. the family says the vigil is not a protest but a time for healing , love, and closure. his mother started a gofundme for his memorial expenses. you can see it has already raised $900,000. money will go to the costs for mental health services and time off from work for the family. they plan to use the funds for the construction of a more memorial skate park for tyre nichols. there was that a half moon bay to house workers. this has been under scrutiny since the mass shooting that left several dead and more injured. some have described these living conditions as deplorable.

intentionally plunged his tesla over a cliff with his daughter, wife, and son inside. he is being held without bail in could be in court as soon as tomorrow. sam bankman-fried of the ftx scandal has tried to contact potential witnesses in his criminal cases and in a letter to a judge they asked to change the conditions of his release to not contact or communicate with former or current employees of ftx and they are asking him not to use any encrypted messaging apps. prosecutors say it's justified given the nature of the case in which he is free right now on a 250 million dollars bond after being hit with fraud and conspiracy charges. lisa argen, let's get a check outside right now. lisa: it's a pretty marginal and weak system on the way. you can see coit tower decked out in the niner red and gold.

liz: taking a live san francisco skyline. a gorgeous start to this morning, but a chilly one. we check in with lisa in a moment. the coast guard, navy, and first responders have been searching for a diver who's gone missing off of fanshawe beach. there was a report on saturday the four divers caught the riptide off the beach just after 4 p.m. but only three have been able to swim to shore.

people using the waterways are asked to keep a lookout for signs of distress and report any information to the coast guard sector in san francisco. for the past year the family of alexis gabe has been trying to find her daughter -- their daughter. police say that she was killed by her ex-boyfriend who then dismembered her body. a year to the day after she was murdered the family held a memorial in oakley. we were there and spoke to the family about what they plan to do next. >> they now know how her story ended. could have had with you. >> alexis went missing on january 20 six. saturday, a year to the date, her family marked the occasion with a memorial.

not much expected. 50 in hayward and berkeley. with a bit of a breeze out there temperatures are much warmer this morning. it is freezing with some fog in the north bay. 32 degrees. seven to 10 degrees milder from san francisco to livermore and a look at the wind, it's breezy. gusts to 33 miles per hour. sfo, 29. getting breezy around san mateo as well. upper elevation wins at 40 miles per hour. that's where we have the advisories later today for those guesting north winds. clouds increasing today with light rain and spotty showers for some of you. cold mornings and chilly days following into early next week. we are tracking it for you right now and as you noticed have some clouds out there. here comes the colder air into lake county and you can see some of the showers on the coast.

get into the freeze warning and frost advisory for san francisco, look at that, there could be a record downtown with temperatures around the bay area or below freezing and tuesday the wind will back off. meaning just as cold and perhaps even colder into tuesday morning and wednesday. accuweather, a week level 1 system today. chilly with spotty showers in freezing cold mornings on monday and tuesday. slightly warmer in the later parts of the week as we track another system heading our way by friday. liz: good to know, nice to have just a little bit more rain. just ahead it's another sign that the pandemic isn't what it used to be. a new change that could make dinner even more expensive in san francisco.

leah melendez tells us what this means for your next order. >> the hawaiian barbecue in the financial district benefited greatly from a 15% delivery fee cap during the pandemic. >> definitely helpful, yes. >> the city wanted to make the cap permanent up when two of the food delivery apps sued, san francisco reached a compromise, compromise meaning it's up to small business owners to decide if they want to make changes to their contract. the new contract tells apps that as a small business owner i want to keep that 15% fee option. if i don't, the fee could go up as high as 30%. so, what does a small business owner lose by staying at the 15% level? billy lee says a lot marketing, advertising, consulting, basically you lose

temperatures in the 40's hitting our high temperatures by the early part of the day. dropping thereafter. we will talk in detail about how much rain to expect and how much cold we can expect in a few minutes. liz: the police chief of the memphis police department has dismantled the crime task force and there have been calls for police to shut down that unit for weeks. justin finch reports from memphis with the latest. >> overnight the police department taking action after the release of video showing the brutal bea 29-ye tyre nichols after a traffic stop. police chief davis permanently dismantling the scorpion unit, the specialized team on which the five former officers facing second-degree murder and other charges in connection to his death served. the chief saying they came after listening to the community and other involved officers.

shooting yesterday morning in an upscale neighborhood in beverly hills, near beverly hills. lapd says it happened in front of a home they believe has been used as a short-term rental. investigators did not confirm whether a party was happening there the time. the victims were found dead inside of a vehicle. the other four people who were shot were standing outside and police say they have no other information on any suspects. a group of youth activists held a rally yesterday outside city hall in response to the recent mass shootings. march for our lives was behind the event. it followed the deadly shooting in florida. the group came together after the shooting in parkland, florida in 2018,say to prevent gun violence by changing laws. >> ideallyederal legislation to ban assault rifles and military weapons. those weapons were developed for

war. >> the event was originally planned in response to the monterey park shooting that left 11 people dead. there have since been three more mass shootings in california. steph and aisha curry expressing their opposition to the addition of multifamily housing near their atherton home. they cited privacy and safety concerns. they sent an emailed to the mayor of atherton expressing their concerns. the housing plan is to add more affordable housing in the city. a public hearing on the resolution to adopt the plan is scheduled for tuesday, january 31. damar hamlin penned a sweet message to his fans in his first public comment since collapsing on the field in cincinnati, sending a huge thank you to people for their unwavering support. he went into cardiac a wrap -- a rest after a tackle during the game on january 2. hamlin collapsed and had to be

through the morning hours? 10:00, snow towards lake county and then spotty showers develop as a cold area of low pressure moves over the bay area. you can see the rotation with the cloud cover. we could see a downpour here or there but this is moving to the south and taking most of the moisture with it. clearing by 8:00 in the north bay but not before we see snow on top of mount hamilton. may not see anything at all out there or a couple of hundredths. you could get more from san jose into the santa cruz mountains. the wind is another big factor on the system. already breezy out there, we will continue to see the wind ramp up with this wind advisory in the north bay. anywhere from 30 to 50 miles per hour 1:00 this afternoon through the evening.is going to be behis
