after authority said he was attacked by a mountain lion. this happened on tonight's creek road before 7:00 last night. we don't know the child's current condition. he was conscious when taken to a trauma center after the attack. video of the area shows conditions made for wildlife which is whenever stale -- which is why neighbors tell abc news they are not surprised to hear of mountain lions in the area. ku alameda county where the district attorney is that you open it police use of force cases. in the highland has updates -- lena howland has updates. lena: a new district attorney has announced the creation of a new unit called the public accountability unit which will be responsible for reopening and investigating these age different cases across the

today last day for every city in california to submit plans to build more affordable housing. atherton city council decided to move forward with their plan and there is resistance. it would turn his single property on oakwood boulevard into townhomes. many residents in this neighborhood are not very happy. that includes staff and a sugary -- steph curry and aisha. during last night's city council meeting, others voiced opposition. >> rezoning site would set a precedent that pet projects not on material roads is acceptable. >> we have real genuine needs for affordable housing. almost no one who atherton can afford to live in atherton. reggie: the state issued this

mandate as part of a project to build 400,000 new units. if cities don't submit a plan, developers will be allowed to fit housing that fits state standards regardless of the local zoning laws. a battle is building in one neighborhood. residents along their street have been asked to remove what he city is calling unpermitted encroachments. you and i would just say it is a bench. over the past decades, neighbors say they have made enhancements to make the street more family-friendly. now someone is complaining about the stone benches. residents now need to go to the city for a permit which costs about $1400. >> no way am i going to pay $1400. i will just take it down. >> it is similar to how the school board was willing with renaming high schools rather than dealing with distance-learning. and seems like it is a nonissue

center for performing arts. reggie: severe weather is bringing airports to a standstill from texas to virginia, thousands of flights being canceled or delayed. jobina is tracking that. jobina: flights are being impacted as travelers are trying to move across the county -- across the country. travelers from texas are from the storm. more than 2000 flights have already been canceled with at least and 6300 delays. those numbers are continuing to grow. three major airports in texas are reporting the bulk of cancellations today. more cancellations are expected this afternoon as the severe winter storm makes its way to the east coast. at least two people have died due to slick roadways in texas and people are experiencing power outages across the state. at least 7000 outages were reported on tuesday. reggie: still do,, the move
