heaviest rain will arrive and when will dry out. thanks for joining us. i'm jr. stone, maybe a bit wet out there today, but it's not having much of an impact on one of the largest cultural celebrations in the bay area a live. look now is the chinese new year parade in san francisco set to kick off in about 45 minutes organizers say it is the biggest lunar new year parade outside of asia. we'll have a live report from that area in just minutes abc 7 weather anchor spencer christian joins us now all eyes on the weather right now for the chinese new year parade spencer. how is it looking? how long is it going to last? well, jr. i'm afraid to say that we have rain now in some parts of san francisco and more is on the way but it's scattered showers. he's pointing out earlier now as you look at the live doppler 7, you can see the heaviest studies rain is over in the east bay, but all attention right now. is on san francisco for the chinese new year parade and you can see it is raining in parts of downtown san francisco and in

chinatown right now says to look at the parade route. you can see that it's it's going to be confined to that area where it looks like going to have showers off and on into the evening hours from 6pm to about 8 pm. this is a level one storm on the abc 7 exclusive storm impact scale so through are we expect rain to be a bit heavy at times but mainly showers and is to go into the evening hours. you can see another line of showers will be coming in right around 7 pm, so. people who are on the parade route just needs to be on the lookout for getting wet. i'll have the full seven-day forecast a little bit later jr. thank you so much a wet. parade is a memorable parade new developments now san francisco police tracked down a man suspected of shooting inside a san francisco synagogue this week security video shows him walk into the schneerson jewish center, wednesday and opened fire shooting blacks. no one was injured abc 7 news reporter cornell bernard spoke to congregants at the synagogue who say they feel some relief, but still a lot of fear.

i think we're still all in shock. and you know, we're still kind of taking it all in matthew finkelstein says members of the sneers and jewish center are still processing events of last wednesday night security video shows a man entering the center pulling a gun and firing off several rounds. people didn't even leave their chairs. this guy was like we holding a gun it's because they were paralyzed of fear. nobody was hurt. it's believed the shots fired were blanks the sfpd with assistance from the fbi arrested a suspect on friday police sources. tell abc 7 news that he is 51 year old dimitri mechan from san francisco. nobody knows who this guy is and no one's ever seen him before so, you know the fact that he came in here and spoke russian is very telling it seems like he obviously new where he was going police believe. he's the same man who walked into a theater on balboa street the day before and waved a gun at employees on saturday police car was posted outside the small synagogue, which serves mostly russian speaking -- finkleston explains why it took the center 24 hours. years to call police some people

south bay leaders hosted a town hall focusing on the mental health of the asian american and pacific islander community following the mass shootings in half moon bay and monterey park. it was organized by congressman. rocana who represents the only asian-american majority district in the continental us and these shootings, even though the perfect trainer was asian american i think they triggered for so many in our community a sense of vulnerability what people are feeling the fear the anxiety the triggering from the trauma is all very real and the importance of recognizing when somebody needs help being able to talk about it is so

overnight and into tomorrow. here's the forecast animation once again taking you to the evening hours. looks like a wave of rather steady downpours will start pushing into the bay area on shore around 7 pm and then swing on through giving away to more scattered showers overnight. and through the day tomorrow before it all winds down tomorrow evening, and we expect rainfall totals to be generally under an inch, but some places will be a little bit over an inch like oakland and hayward on we go to over. low temperatures mainly in the upper 40s and highs tomorrow right in the mid-fifties not a very wide range of high temperatures at all tomorrow and here is the accuweather seven-day forecast after the showers taper off tomorrow night. we can expect sunny skies on monday, although it'll get off to a cold start on monday morning also pretty chilly in the morning hours on wednesday, but notice how they'll be a gradual warming trend going into the latter part of the week. so dry conditions mainly sunny days high temperatures getting up into the mid 60s around the bay shoreline and inland by friday lovely week ahead.
